Went here recently for a couple of drinks and appetizers. We sat at the bar around 8:00PM and there…read morewere a decent amount of people there. After ordering our first round of drinks we realized they had a happy hour menu which we wished we had known about beforehand. Would've been nice to have been given the menu when we first sat down. They had quite a few drink and food options at reasonable prices. We ordered the buffalo chicken wings, truffle fries, ahi tuna and calamari which were all great especially for the price. We also got a side of pasta with red sauce which was just okay, nothing to write home about and the pasta was overcooked. I also recommend the lychee martini, really enjoyed that. Overall it was a good experience and a great place to grab drinks and apps with friends. I'd definitely come back and would be interested in trying more items off the menu.

This was our 2nd recent visit to Salvatore's. We were in the area last week and decided to visit…read moresince we hadn't been to Salvatore's in several years. My wife had the Steak Tips and I enjoyed the Braised Short Rib, and both meals were so good that we made up our minds to share this great place with friends. We did just that last night. Donna had Steak Tips again and this time I had the Steak Tip Salad. Our friends had a Salmon Salad and Veal Saltimbocca. I heartily recommend sitting outside around sunset to enjoy the brilliant sky with your meal. And oh, the drinks were great, and my only disappointment is that they don't use large ice cubes for the Old Fashioned. I ordered mine with ice on the side but enjoyed it straight up. Our server was very attentive and made some excellent recommendations.

We contacted Salvatore's regarding a bereavement meal. I spoke with Marci about our needs. She…read morereserved the 'Caesar' room based on the number of guests we expected and emailed several meal options they offer for private events. Once we had chosen a meal package, we spoke again on the phone where she asked for some additional information (such as how many 'littles' would be part of the event) and forwarded a contract to me via email to sign. On the day of the event, there seemed to be a bit of a misunderstanding with staff on duty about the timing of our event. Our contract stated 4:30 but when people began to arrive the doors were still locked, the bar was not yet set and the coffee service not yet out. By the time we arrived from the funeral home about 5pm they had most of these things addressed. In the meantime, guests were able to purchase drinks at the restaurant bar. The room was set with seven tables of eight seats. Each table had a white cloth, silk floral center piece, flatware, cloth napkin and water glass. The room itself has high ceilings and large windows overlooking the river. A buffet station was set up at one end of the room near the bar. The staff did a wonderful job serving the buffet. Bread, butter and salad were self serve while entrée options were served by staff. Once everyone had received their food a staff member came around to each table to be sure everyone was happy with their meal. He very much wanted to be sure everyone was satisfied. The hot food remained available throughout the event and take away containers were left nearby for those who wished to take home any left overs once an appropriate amount of time had passed. Cannoli, cookies and brownies were laid out near the coffee urns (regular and decaf, along with hot water and tea bags) for dessert. About thirty minutes before departure, take away containers were left on this table too. We paid the bartender the agreed upon amount for our event before departing. All of the staff were very helpful, considerate and kind. All of our guests were very happy with both the accommodations and the meal, as were we. Salvatore's is located in a renovated mill building with shared parking. A ramp leads up to their door for wheelchair access. Gendered restrooms are located off a hallway between the entrance and the event room. The temperature inside was quite pleasant, neither cold nor hot.

Flavor up, Lawrence! Here is one terrific and tasty entry in the downtown Essex Street food scene…read more After some very enthusiastic and eager recommendations by the owner, we settled on two of the truly best cocktails we've had in a while. First, the Mermaid Water (La Serena) martini, with Bacardi, coconut rum, pineapple, and Blue Curacao will transport you to the islands with every sip. Then the Amor de Medianoche oh my, lip-smacking combo of Deep Eddy Vodka, St. Germain elderflower liqueur, blackberry, lime, and vanilla. We started with tempura cauliflower florets that were tossed in sweet and sour and also chili sauce for a light kick. Quite lovely. Then our entrees were the braised beef pappardelle, which was a unique non-red-sauce pasta dish. And the carnitas tostada tacos with pork shoulder. Both were excellent. It is not a giant menu, but there is something in every category and obviously made with care and fresh ingredients and amore. There is plentiful seating in an open-concept space, as well as a bar with a large tv that thankfully was playing a tennis tournament and not news. Low seatbacks (vs tall booths) make it more group-friendly vs private/cozy but bonus points for well-cushioned seats at the 4-person tables or half-booth/half-table setups. Glass walls and a window-wall to the patio allow plentiful natural light. Spacious patio sits in a hipster chic alleyway with lights and colorful murals. The front entrance is at sidewalk level, so wheelchairs and walkers/canes should manage easily through the wide double-doors. Metered street parking on both sides of this busy thoroughfare, free on Sundays and holidays. There is also valet available at certain times you should check ahead. All in all, a positive drinking and dining experience in a welcoming and classy but not formal atmosphere. It is still a hidden gem, having just opened a few months ago as of this visit. But folks, put any skepticism aside and let your tastebuds lead you ASAP to this delicious new Merrimack Valley delight. Buon appetito!

What an amazing experience and cannot say enough about the service, the food, and the atmosphere. They were busy, but noise levels were good even with a large party who were behind us. Because we didn't make a reservation, we ended up parking ourselves at the bar. Drinks were good and we had the wontons for an app. Absolutely delicious! For our meals, GF 1 got the Tostada, which was hearty and delicious. Our GF 2 ordered a salmon "special" which was gone about 30 seconds after they put the plate down, and she raved about how good it was... I ordered the short rib grilled cheese, which was very tasty. If I have any dings, the French fries weren't as crispy as I prefer, but they were still good and were hot, so really just being nit picky! This place is good, really good, and we'll definitely be adding it to our rotation. It's getting harder to find places who still bring good food at reasonable prices, and Micheal's Bistro hits the mark on both. Looking forward to our next visit. Great spot for a throuple date

The complimentary warm chips and salsa was a nice start. The salsa was on the medium heat side. Without our asking, our server happily replenished the chips 3 times. We decided to order the tableside fresh guacamole and quite honestly it was one of the best we've ever had. It was indeed prepared freshly, albeit not at the table, and slightly chunky as we like it. They ran through the list of ingredient options and we went with onion, tomato, cilantro, and lime juice. We opted out of the Jalapeno. It was a good sized order and delicious!!! We both loved our entrees. My wife ordered the combo of chicken enchilada and burrito. I went with the Pollo Jalisco, a chicken Cutlets with onion, mushroom, rancero sauce and melted cheese. Both came with Spanish rice and refried beans. The rice was awesome, light and fluffy and full of flavor. The refried beans were fine. Our server was fantastic. She was attentive and personable. Cruisin' through Andover, I roll up to The Autograph American Tavern lookin' for some comfort food, and they hit me with a chicken pot pie that was straight-up gasoline. Capisce? This thing comes out in a cast iron skillet, sizzlin' hot, with a giant puff pastry dome on top, golden and flaky like a perfect peeling wave. Sprinkle of flaky sea salt, little fresh parsley on top. Bellissimo. You crack through that crust and the creamy filling underneath is bubblin' up around the edges, rich and hearty, just beggin' you to dive in. I was fully barreled, brah. On a cold New England day, this is the kinda dish that warms you up from the inside out. Tastes like somebody's nonna made it with love, but with that upscale tavern touch.
