I had…read morethe misfortune of selecting this company to do renovations in my condo that had experienced a devastating flood. Thinking there would be some economy of scale to the work, I had LA Design undertake a kitchen and master bath remodel with the remediation. The only thing this company does promptly is issue invoices. The work took 7 months to complete -- 4 more months than promised. The remediation and renovation work was terrible. Most of the kitchen cabinets were measured incorrectly and had to be re-ordered and re-installed. The brand new flooring throughout the 900 sq ft apartment was the first project completed and was, despite my repeated pleas to protect the flooring, significantly damaged with deep gouges, chips and paint splatter after being exposed to months of exposure to tools, appliances, trash and careless laborers. The living room was painted in 3 different shades of white as every day laborer and painter would just buy the white paint that was most convenient for them to pick up in the morning on their way to the job. The kitchen cabinets were never "finished" -- trim was left raw and unpainted. The plumbing work was performed with a degree of outstanding incompetence. All of the walls and ceilings that needed to be replaced due to the flood were installed with a staggering degree of sloppiness. The building maintenance team at Riva Pointe was staggered by the monumental incompetence of this company. Worst experience with a contractor -- EVER.

After…read morebeing left in a lurch with a sketchy contractor (trying to save money), I had cabinets, a floor plan, most parts and a window order in and waiting (with cabinets in the garage!) so we were panicking. Larry Sr came over the same day as we called to assess and give us a quote. Not only was it reasonable, but was able to use our original timeline to get everything done. Not to mention it was all done faster than the original contractor told us too. The original team was 2 guys, told us it would take 15K over our budget and over 6+ weeks. LA came in just on budget and got everything done in 13 business days. The guys they have are incredibly attentive to detail and were willing to go back in and fix up anything that was slightly off too. We also had to pivot a few minor things because the original floor plan ended up not being ideal and Larry's guys made it all happen, listening to us, making sure we felt heard and were not stressed. We are absolutely in love with the final result. While construction is definitely always stressful, LA helped reduce that as much as possible and we can't wait to use them again soon.

I interviewed several drywallers, painters, and contractors before choosing EC Painting & Home Maintenance. Efrain's verbal communication and English is EXCELLENT which was very important to me when choosing a contractor to make sure everything went smoothly. I knew my project had unique challenges--unlevel floors, walls and doorways that weren't square or plumb, nail pops, and large settling cracks from a 49+ year-old building. I was very concerned no matter what I did things would never look "straight," but Efrain worked with me diligently to get things "picture perfect" so that the crooked walls and floors disappeared and became invisible to the naked eye when finished. From the start, Efrain listened carefully, answered all my detailed (often technical) questions, and worked with me to find the best approach--for example, reframing bifold doors so they would look straight and close properly when one side of the floor was nearly 2" lower than the other. I know I'm not the easiest customer since I like to understand exactly how things will be done, but Efrain was patient, explained everything clearly, and was flexible as we figured out solutions along the way. Also, unlike some contractors/owners who show up for an estimate but then send different workers to do the job, which often results in gaps in communication, he also did most of the work personally (adding 1-2 additional crew when needed) and was always available and responsive to calls, texts and emails, so there were no communication gaps. Whenever something wasn't "just right" and needed a little tweaking or change, he never complained once and made sure I was completely satisfied with the finished result. Efrain is professional, patient, communicative, and genuinely a pleasure to work with. His crew works efficiently and respectfully, and he goes above and beyond to make sure everything looks right. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing and frankly misleading. They sent two workers--one young girl and another woman--who claimed to perform a thorough clean. I sent in a deposit as well. However, the results fell well short of expectations. I was charged extra for shutters, but they barely cleaned them, leaving them almost untouched. The deep clean itself was subpar; the fridge was cleaned with food still inside, suggesting chemicals were left behind, and the rest of the downstairs was left dusty, with no proper mopping or thorough cleaning. I sent proof in the form of photos and videos to the owner, as I'm not the type to tarnish a company's reputation unnecessarily--I prefer to be fair, welcoming, and supportive of businesses. She said she'd get back to me and even offered a discount, but I never heard back. In the meantime, I ended up re-cleaning my entire house--starting at the same time they arrived--to try and lessen the work and give them a chance to finish up efficiently. Instead, this only resulted in more work for me and a sense that they spent around four hours in the kitchen alone to justify their hourly charge. Yet, even after that, the area wasn't cleaned properly. I was told that there will be training organized for the cleaners however i'm assuming this meant they sent me a non trained staff? I feel bad writing this review however it has to be said. I had guests from out of state come and didn't realize hiring a "deep cleaning" service would mean that I'd be doing more work and spent 8 hours cleaning myself and re cleaning what they did. Overall, I am very disappointed. Their promises were misleading, and their service fell far below standard. I expected professional cleaning but was left to do most of the work myself. I would not recommend this company based on my experience. Waste of $450.00

After being turned away by multiple other hardwood flooring bizs, John said he could help us out. Our floors were a time consuming project because we had to replace multiple boards without tearing up all surrounding wood. John sent "two of his most patient guys" for two days of labor - which included fixing the main problem in our kitchen, and then small flooring projects all over the house that we could squeeze in. That's exactly what we needed. Overall, they did a great job. They know how to work with old, original hardwood flooring, their work feels secure and sturdy, and they did as best a job as they could've done on color matching the stain. I think we paid a fair price, and I would definitely work with John again on future flooring projects.
