It's a small family business and they trust each other to do the job right. I was impressed everybody got dirty. Our back yard was improved greatly. Nice neat work.

STEVENS CONCRETE -- NEARLY TWO MONTHS OF EXCUSES, POOR WORKMANSHIP, AND SAFETY HAZARDS…read more I strongly caution anyone considering Stevens Concrete. My experience with Tyler was one of the most frustrating and unprofessional experiences I've ever had with a contractor. On August 22, Tyler quoted $6,987 for three concrete areas and a retaining wall, including vegetation removal, concrete removal, and debris hauling. He reduced the price to $6,500, and I agreed to another $800 for six-inch-thick concrete. By October 18, when I terminated the project, 57 days had passed and the job was STILL unfinished. INACCURATE MEASUREMENTS AND ADDITIONAL CHARGES Tyler initially estimated approximately 900 square feet, later discussing 966 square feet for the front and back combined. My measurements and the replacement contractor's assessment revealed significant discrepancies in both areas. Then Tyler demanded another $2,000 for the backyard, citing elevation changes and additional work. I disputed the amount because I wasn't convinced his measurements or explanations justified it. BROKEN PROMISES AND POOR SITE MANAGEMENT Vegetation removal was included in his price, yet he asked ME to rent a chainsaw to remove it. An open-top dumpster was also supposed to be included but was NEVER provided. I specifically instructed him to place excavated dirt around the large tree in my front yard. Instead, he dumped it elsewhere, mixed with broken concrete, including huge chunks. I agreed to keep DIRT, not construction debris! On one occasion, Tyler even had his children participating in the work. The framing was crooked, and the preparation raised serious concerns about workmanship. DANGEROUS SAFETY HAZARDS His crew left nails hammered into the public sidewalk and my carport, protruding approximately 1-1.5 inches above the surfaces. The sidewalk is regularly used by walkers, joggers, and elderly residents. Someone could have been seriously injured. I PERSONALLY STEPPED ON THE NAIL IN MY CARPORT. Leaving these hazards in pedestrian areas is completely unacceptable. NEARLY TWO MONTHS OF EXCUSES Rain, heat, equipment access, excavation, elevations, scheduling, materials -- there was always another excuse. Tyler claimed he couldn't pour the front driveway until the backyard was completed. I disagreed. The front could have been addressed separately while the backyard issues were resolved. Because my driveway wasn't finished, I couldn't bring my fifth-wheel RV home as planned, costing me MORE THAN $800 in additional expenses. $3,250 PAID AND AN UNFINISHED PROJECT By the time I terminated Stevens Concrete, I had paid $3,250 for work that, in my opinion, didn't come close to justifying that amount. I was left with an unfinished project, questionable preparation, misplaced dirt, concrete debris, and exposed nails. THE MOST TELLING PART? After nearly two months dealing with Stevens Concrete, I hired another contractor who COMPLETED THE PROJECT IN JUST THREE DAYS! Tyler later continued defending the delays and suggested he would have compromised if money was the issue. Money wasn't the issue. I was willing to pay for quality work. My issue was poor planning, inaccurate measurements, unsafe conditions, constant delays, and failure to complete the job. AND I HAVE THE DOCUMENTATION TO BACK THIS UP. I have substantially more photographs, text messages, and written communications than I've included here. This review represents only a portion of what I experienced. I have extensive documentation of the delays, workmanship concerns, property conditions, changing explanations, and my communications with Tyler. I stand behind my account of what happened. I WOULD NEVER HIRE STEVENS CONCRETE AGAIN. Homeowners deserve accurate estimates, competent workmanship, safe jobsites, honesty, and accountability. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. One star is more than this experience deserves.

Promised to do a great job cutting out block with his "$30,000" cutting tool…read more Douglas Detrick, his partner Thomas Beaumarchais and his crew made a mess. I explained to them that the vents for flooding were installed too low. And I wanted them higher. Doug said he had this great cutting tool which would slice through the concrete block. And drop it down where the vents had been and then put in the replacement $215 flood vent when I was able to afford them. I need for vents so that's $800 plus and labor. He had a couple of hours free and he pushed to make this job attractive to me. Lowering the price. Paying cash. Etc... I have seen the work that he did in the neighborhood so if he said that they could do it I was willing to trust him. WHAT A MESS. Unbelievable mess. They cut out block so much wider then the actual block or vent 8 x 16 area, I have no idea how I am going to fix it. They left morter all over the grass telling me it was biodegradable. Huh? If that is what they used for the new block and it is biodegradable the block would never be solid and hold. They did a very messy job. I made them clean up the garage and the mortar. But now he won't come back and put in the flood vents. He is too busy. His partner Tom was supposed to call me never did. Douglas is ghosting my once a day calls. Not calling every hour. He is my neighbor. He is a liar. And I kept his crew hydrated with water and gatorade. No one else is that nice to workers. They did some other stuff like putting in new material between the driveway expansions. Except the material kept falling apart because it had been sitting too long and dried out. Seriously costs $3.50 at Home Depot. Acted like him giving it to me was a big favor. Told me it would last 15 years. Oy, it was the same as what they where replacing only lasts at max five years.
