In all my years stuffing my face full of fast food, I've never came across a chippy quite so chic, or upmarket as this place. The embossed wooden sign above the entrance instantly gives Atlantis a fresh, modern look and once inside, it feels more mid-range restaurant than high street takeaway, with walls lined with decorative pebbles, pictures of freshly caught fish all round and a giant, four-piece picture of a British seaside town somewhere. Oh, and that's just the waiting area.
Delve deeper into the store and the nautical theme continues with a very attractive indoor seating area, made up of inviting wooden booths, decorative brick-work, old-fashioned clocks and framed pictures of boats, fishermen and allsorts. The interior of this place is truly stunning when you consider its merely a local chippy, but unfortunately, the food isn't quite as catch-of-the-day fresh as you might hope. On my visit, the chips I purchased were rock hard and the cod meat was full of lumps of grey. I'd think if I had to label it, I'd go for 10 out of 10 for layout and atmosphere, and 4 out of 10 for food quality. read more
