None of the checkouts work in self serve. They circle and circle on payment and the morning tellers have to look up the price on every item. If you're in any type of hurry at all, don't go there. Bring a chair to have a seat. read more

The selection is good and some fair deals when you keep an eye on the flyers and weekly promos. The big issue is some of the staff. The older staff and managers seem to be helpful if you can find one, but there is a consistent irritating issue with --in my experience -- many of the younger employees. The store is quite large, probably one of the largest supermarkets in the City. This means it is sometimes difficult to find where items are, especially if it is something other than the basics. Almost without fail, when you ask a question about where something is located, you will get a precise answer. Trouble is that it is almost always wrong. (One Saturday, I had to ask a clerk three times and after three trips still couldn't find my item. Finally I just said "Do you know that (the item) is in that aisle or are you just guessing?" Answer: "Well, I thought it might be." This was the fourth visit in a row with a similar scenario where I was sent running around because someone guessed, or made something up, or answered with a location even though, as it turned out, they didn't even know what the item was I asked for was! (Anchovies, if you're wondering.) How hard is it to call someone else if you don't know an answer? Management--Train your staff members to either answer questions correctly or find someone else who can. If they don't know an answer, admit it. It makes a customer feel devalued to get sent on a wild goose chase -- or two or three -- because it is easier to guess or make something up rather than admit you don't know and find the proper person to deal with it. *Sigh* I really wouldn't take time to write this for a single incident, but it happens all the time at this store and it is so easily preventable with a few minutes training. I like the President's Choice products though, so an extra star for them--if I can find them. read more

As soon as you walk into there was a man doing a display of toilet paper that was on sale so we grabbed 2 packages!! Continued to shop once we got to the cash and our cashier Peggy who was amazing rang in the toilet paper it came up at 13.99 we said it's supposed to be on sale. She got the front end Ramey to check as it is protocol. So we told Ramey it was by the entrance she went and checked and came back and said there were none of the ones we picked up at the front door. I said well it was sad said well its not there now asked if we still wanted it I said no she picked the toilet paper and left no sorry nothing!! We felt that she was calling us a liar. I'm not sure if the guy at the front realized that some of the toilet paper was wrong and removed it. All I know is it was there!! Peggy apologized several times she was great!! I told her I was sorry she has a front end manager like Ramey if she treats customers like they are liars and thieves then I would hate to see how she treats staff!! I was so embarrassed as there was a line up behind us!! I left the store very upset!! I will not be shopping in this store again which is too bad as I loved this store!! I guess I will be going to Sobeys I would pay more for a product and be treated with respect then shop in your store and be called a liar and a thief ! I really hope someone reads this and make changes but I'm sure nothing will be done about this review!! If I could give this store a negative score I would!! read more

My partner and I just left this location feeling angry, belittled, and embarrassed. The clerk, Diana, was rude to us for using a roll of toonies to pay for the few things we picked up. We understand if she needed to count the change to make sure that it was accurate, but there was no need for the tone or condescending look she gave us. She was very patronizing and as someone who has worked in customer service for years, I cannot fathom talking to a customer using change to pay in that way. I wasn't originally going to review a second Atlantic Superstore, as I figured one review (Halifax) would be sufficient. But when I walked in and heard LIVE PIANO MUSIC being played on an upstairs balcony, I thought it deserved a mention. Okay, they didn't have quite as much selection of Ziggy's products as the store in Halifax (I should have bought some if only to have the tubs to use as containers in the future), but otherwise the same consistent selection and cleanliness. Plus they had 8 self-check stations, which is more than I've ever seen at any major grocery store in the States. read more

A lot of stores in NB are like mini-Walmarts and this store is no different, offering a small line of clothing, a bank, pharmacy, and, well, um, groceries. Note that I have had my share of sticker shock when HoneyCrisp apples are $5.99/lb...WTF? I'm buying them for $0.88/lb this week (Oct 2015)...okay, okay, I'm in a warmer, albeit drought-ridden, climate. The store has a lot of sales on processed foods, which exemplifies a crisis in this country too -- not enough fresh produce to offset bad eating habits. Atlantic Superstore tries to balance but not in the healthiest ways. read more

My father, little brother, and I went to the Atlantic Superstore (471 Smythe St location) today, and although there were some good experiences, especially with the pharmaceutical department, the lady at the self checkout station was by far the rudest person I have ever dealt with. When asked kindly to help us with the 50% label on both of our bread products, this lady responded back very rudely. She helped us for a minute, then immediately left. We noticed she made a mistake, and only applied the the 50% coupon to only one of our bread products, so we asked her kindly to return and to apply the other coupon. She first questioned us and told us WE were wrong, in a very rude way, and when she noticed her mistake she stopped talking and applied the other 50% discount. When my father responded by saying, "That's why we needed your help", in a very calm manner, she stopped what she was doing, turned around, and gave him an incredibly rude stare, and then went back to our station. She handled our bread in an extremely fussy manner, which was completely not needed. We don't know if this lady had a particular bad day, or is dealing with something personal. Unfortunately, the idea of it possibly also being a racist act also crossed my mind, as I was wearing the traditional Islamic headdress. We did not catch this ladies name, but we suppose she is of Asian descent. We went at around 12 pm today, and she was the only one working there. Looking at our receipt, the MERCHANT # was " 4441499" , and the SLIP # was "479901". If this information helps you in identifying who this lady is, it is very important, because other innocent kind customers do not deserve to be treated the way that we had been today. This store would have received a high rating, as everything included our pharmaceutical experience went very well, however, I am sorry to say this, but this lady let you down. read more
