Took it to deters and put the parts in and labor for the door came out 1,100 and with a warranty so two weeks before warranty was out the door broke same thing fixed but charged me for parts cause they said that it was something different that caused it . (water was getting in the door some how ) you would think they would seal it and fix and send me on my way . So just yesterday same thing happen either they don't know what the heck there doing there just being neglectful and not fixing it right . after spending 2100 .0 they would think they say bring it in this is on us . No not the case ! Taking advantage of the elderly and the disabled !! Don't go there is the worst place I have ever delt with and have been on this earth 55 yrs. Go somewhere else. they can care less for elderly people what goes around comes around they'll be getting there Karma .FYI the owner dosent take complaints even if you ask for him only the assistant manager does. After a few seconds he softly said, "It's your tie rods." He then raised the cars and showed me. I didn't even know what a tie rod was! He said, "Would you like to work on it with me and learn how to fix it?" Oh boy, did I ever! He stood behind me, holding my hands like that scene in the movie "Ghost". At the end of everything, he didn't even charge me for labor. He just said, "Now you know. And knowing is half the battle." I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone in western Iowa.

Little did I know that was only the beginning. I bought a 2004 Land Rover, with a warranty on the engine, that they installed themselves to make it even better, and the Rover is not drivable 3 weeks after buying it from them. The device engine light began going off a couple weeks after getting it home and it began to shake, I did not feel safe in it. I bought the vehicle knowing it would need some work eventually, but didn't imagine it would be 2 weeks after buying it. The sales manager Tom, has no idea what he's talking about only wants your money. After speaking with the owner, Tad Olsen, about the problem we were in, he made sure to remind me it is my car and my problem but hey he would be willing to look at the car i bought from him 2 weeks before without charging me a diagnostic fee, let's not forget the engine had a warranty and was installed by his staff. And it would have to be towed there on my dime. He went as far questioning ME during our conversation and at one point told me to "shut my mouth". The lack of customer service and people skill is ridiculous. They sell nothing but lemons. Do not waste your time or your money. I will be contacting the BBB.

I had some car trouble on the interstate about 9 miles east of here. I pull up Google and find this…read moreplace (what seems to be the only place between Des Moines and Omaha) and get the tow operator to bring me there. Their business hours were listed as open till 5. Normally, that means that until 5, I would be able to have someone at least take a look at my issue, not necessarily resolve it, but look... Yeah -- Not here. Kind lady at the desk told me I'd be best to buy some Duck Tape at NAPA and tape the plastic piece on my car up till I got home. Super awesome tow-operator ended up bringing me to another (hole in the wall) place near to here. Guy there asked what the issue was, put the car up and FIXED it for just $10. Got me all the way home with no issues. I trust the previous reviewer had a great experience here... Mine was lackluster. I'd support Harkins over Craig's any day of the week!

AAA said they couldn't help us. Then a local recommended we call 2nd Street repair. Scott, the business owner, drove over 30 min both ways to tow our car at 6pm on a Friday. He diagnosed the problem and ordered a replacement part on the drive to his shop. He replaced our alternator and did a basic inspection of the rest of our car and gave us some really good suggestions for future maintenance. He charged us far below what we researched the standard price for an alternator replacement and he did it all before 8:00pm. He did it all by himself while he was missing out on his family dinner! (I'm sure his wife had a few words but I wish I could thank her on his behalf!) He literally saved our weekend and we got to Des Moines and back with zero problems after that. On top of all that, he was super personable and fun to talk to. My wife and I both left feeling not only relieved, but also like we had made a new friend. Great business, great people. If you ever break down, definitely do it within range of 2nd St repair!

The Second Street mechanics fit me into their busy day and were able to quickly diagnose the problem and make a repair so I could continue on my way. They even gave me a cash discount. If I need auto or truck repair service in this area, I'm definitely going back. Very happy and grateful for their kindness and help. Instead he sold me one after a blowout on I-80 and suggested I get 4 tires for my all wheel drive RAV 4 in Des Moines, which I did. Beware, the tire that blew was a replacement tire that The TOYOTA dealer in Marina del Rey, CA had put on my new 2017 vehicle after I turned over a parking lot curb at a bad angle. He put on a tire manufactured in 2014. Of course, all my other tires were made in 2017. Just saying. It was the 2014 tire that blew. I had been told by two repair places, one of them a Goodyear tire place, that there was enough tread left for my 8K road trip. As it turned out, I shouldn't have listened.
