This Hampton Inn is only about six years old, but feels older and not as well maintained compared…read moreto other Hampton Inns we've stayed at. We usually stay here when visiting friends in the area. The rooms don't seem well constructed-while were were simply walking around the room for less than 10 minutes the front desk called to say the guests below us were complaining about stomping. At that point, we were already siting down, which suggests the floors are poorly insulated. Breakfast was the standard Hampton Inn offering and fairly average. The location is the bigger plus-close to friends, along with several of our old favorite restaurants and coffee shops. The staff is friendly, and the hotel does offer a workout room and pool. Overall, its a decent place to stay, but there's room for improvement.

Andrew the General manager can stop scamming guests! Watch out. Customers beware…read more Andrew, the general manager is a scam artist. He likes to charge people's charge account after the booking was canceled in advanced and yet claims they checked in, but somehow cannot show proof, license, or video that the guest was there. And then when asked to provide proof, he sends me and the bank somebody else's information. Definitely a privacy and HIPAA violation. Glad I have that customer's name, address and number, I sent him a nice letter to inform him. Funny part of this story was I cancelled the original booking because of a location error and rebooked to a Holiday Inn but a different location and checked into that location... lol so I guess I'm a magician that can be at two places the same time!! Scan and fraud.... Wonder if corporate knows he violated someone's personal privacy.

So we check in and the room smells horrid! Like stale cigarette smoke. We try another room and also smelly, so just stay in room one, and bring in air fresheners & deodorizers. It's also dirty, not kept up with broken bathroom shelving and dark/dingy. To make matters worse, desk help chases me out of breakfast room because I have a service animal?! What?!? She is small, totally quiet and very well trained. I am SO embarrassed!!! Policeman shows up and talks to the desk clerk. Worst residence Inn experience EVER- Ugh!! Just when you think it can't get worse...shower door was entirely broken off track when we came back late tonight. Also--no pillows at desk to make uncomfortable sofa bed for our teen son?! Please...worst residence inn EVER. Just DON'T STAY HERE

Our company headquarters is in Rocky Hill, so we've stayed here consistently several times per year…read moresince 2008. The staff is always friendly with the common areas always very nice, however, room experience varies widely here. You definitely do not want a room that is on the South side facing outwards towards West Street or towards the I-91 exit. There is tremendous road noise all night long making it hard to get a good night's sleep. If you have a room that's facing the interior courtyard or the North side, you can rest quite peacefully. If you're unfortunate enough to get one of their disabled/accessible rooms, often those are not as well maintained, have broken items such as curtains (see photo), and fixtures are uncomfortably sized for a taller person. They should better maintain them and limit these rooms for people that actually need them. Overall, we still rate the property with 4 stars because barring the location/type of room mentioned, the rest of the hotel is quite nice. We're basing this on 17 years of stays here. We regularly choose Residence Inn when traveling for business and have stayed in several in nearly every state (we are Marriott Lifetime Titanium Elite Members). This hotel is predominantly a good to great stay. There are comments about it being dated decor, which we think is less about this location and more about the Residence Inn brand as a whole. We find this consistent and nicer than most we've stayed in within the brand. Our only reason for 4 vs. 5 stars is the noisy South side and that over the years we've been given one of these accessible rooms despite being listed on our profile that we do not want one.

Have you ever been the only guest at a bed and breakfast?-- it's a little awkward. However, the inn is just beautiful. My room (room 3) was large and luxurious, with a door to the balcony outdoors. It is all immaculately clean, and the bed was super soft. The owners did their best to be unobtrusive. I didn't eat breakfast with them, so I can't comment on the food. There's a coffee maker in the room as well as in the common area. I adored that I could walk out the door and be so close to the coffee shops, stores, etc in Glastonbury. I ate supper at Plan B burger bar, because it's a five minute walk. I would absolutely return here next time I need to stay in town.

My fiancee emailed her on that day to confirm and when she got no response, texted her, but still no response. We arrived on time and after a few minutes of waiting around, Pat appeared and said she had forgotten that we were coming or the reason why were there, even asking if we had an appointment. As I said, the grounds are very nice. We had what we thought was a good conversation and were excited about the prospects of putting together our special day. Pat said "her printer wasn't working" and she couldn't print out the prices and details, but said she would email us the specifics. Welp, we're still waiting. My fiancee even emailed her the next day to say that we enjoyed meeting with her and she would look out for the materials. NO RESPONSE. It's simple courtesy to get back to people, not go silent on them, wasting everyone's time and resources. She "might" be able to handle smaller events (maybe a birthday party), but her abysmal lack of communication certainly doesn't instill confidence. And she'll probably respond to this poor review with some excuse - it's probably about the only time she'll be willing to communicate with us.

We checked in and the staffed processed the transaction and gave us room keys. The room was fairly clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel has free breakfast in the morning which wasn't bad BUT you must eat in the breakfast room which was hard for us. Another lady was arguing the front desk staff as he asked her if she was staying there then after she confirmed it he told her he couldn't take a plate up to her room. Overall the stay wasn't bad.

The woman I spoke to was rude and indifferent and told me that the hotel was packed and that they would therefor have no ability to extend early check in, even for a fee. This seemed odd, but if they were "packed" it was understandable, so I thanked her for her time, to which she responded with "yeah" and hung up. The following day we arrived at the property at 2:30pm and went to check in so that we could go to Buffalo Wild Wings down the street from the hotel and grab something to eat. We entered the lobby at about 2:45pm and went to the front desk where we were greeted by a woman whose voice I recognized as the rude woman from the above described phone call. My girlfriend took out her wallet to begin checking in and was told she needed to wait until 3:00pm, which was 15 minutes away. The woman said the rooms were not ready yet and my girlfriend had to plead with her to simply check us in so that we could go eat, which she eventually did, but with a really rude demeanor and making comments about "people not being able to understand that 3 mean 3". We asked if the brand new Jeep Wllys Edition with temporary New Jersey plates would be vacating the loading/unloading area where it was parked in the very middle of the access making it impossible get close to the hotel to unpack our luggage (mind you, I am going for full open chest style heart surgery in 8 days), and the woman at the desk simply responded "no, that's where he parks". No idea who "he" is, but when I asked if they had luggage carts the woman simply said "no". We went to eat and returned to the hotel. I struggled to carry our luggage from the parking lot all the way up to our room (210) and was exhausted and wheezing by the time we got there. Upon entering the room we (Carrie and I) began noticing that there was no toilet paper or tissue, the holder for the toilet paper was actually ripped of the wall and the broken pieces were on the vanity. We noticed there were no towels and no coffee or any of the coffee supplies. Then I tried to turn on the television and noticed that someone had removed the coaxial cables from the box and simply left it on the chest the television sat on. I decided to call the front desk, only to discover that the cord connecting the unit to the receiver was also missing. I walked down to the front desk where I met a man who seemed to be the manager and also seemed to be somehow related to the angry woman at the front desk. I explained the situation and he gave me toilet paper, tissue and had ME go into the food service area (which was closed and the lights were off) and look around for cups, utensils, etc. There was no coffee or any of the other items that were missing from the room with the exception of a few paper coffee cups and some plastic spoons, which I grabbed. The manager then cam to our room to try to "fix" the TV. He found that the remote had been literally snapped in have and put back together and that someone had apparently stolen the cables to hook up the router. He grabbed another box and slung it over the top of the TV to just kind of hang there because there was no cable available to place the box in its intended place. He (Manager) then looked up and said "oh, look, they stole the smoke detectors too!!" He said he would wait until we checked out to replace the smoke detectors and when I asked if that was acceptable he said it was ok because there are so many smoke detectors in other parts of the hotel!! He gave us a different remote for the TV (Which was taped together and ultimately we discovered the only way to turn the TV off was to physically unplug it. The manger informed us that the phone cord would not be replaced and when I asked "then why keep the phone in the room?" He said that it was company policy. Once they (Manager, rude woman from front desk and one or two people from housekeeping ) finally left our room the entire place smelled liked really bad body oder. Like, REALLY bad. We actually went across the street to a gas station to buy a spray for the room. When we returned from the gas station and finally unpacked and were about to relax, Carrie decided to take a shower; NO HOT WATER!!! I mean, come on!! Am I being PUNKED at this point?!?! We ran the water in the tub (at the suggestion of the rude woman at the front desk) for over an hour and the best we got was lukewarm for about 30 seconds and then right back to freezing. Carrie now took over because I was actually having chest pains from the anger/stress and went down (once again) to the front desk to demand a refund for this stay. The woman, as expected, was completely unhelpful and actually tried to intimidate Carrie, staring her down and shrugging with a smirk. I finally called (800) 300-8800 where I went around and around in circles with another absolutely abysmal "
