Portions were also extremely small - think, not well fed at a wedding - including just one small pour of table wine with main courses. The appetizer setup was terrible - a chafing tray in the corner and some cheese, essentially. They didn't have anything to accommodate the dietary restrictions of our group for apps. Dinner options were more accommodating. The food tasted fine, but I'd prefer to even pay a little more and get an actual Petite Violette meal. At the end of the day, most people are likely to return to a restaurant more often than they are to a dinner theater experience. The restaurant should consider this and feature their actual menu a little better to make people excited to visit again.

Having great PEI Mussels elsewhere perhaps at a different time of year, I know that the Anise Café could do much better. Someone needs to tell the chef to refuse delivery of substandard seafood.

As many restaurants do for Valentine's Day, they offered a prix fixe menu including a starter (wonderful chestnut soup), main (we chose a savory crepe with sautéed chicken), and dessert (a light raspberry puff pastry). Each course was delicious and accented by additional Valentine's touches (see photos). I'm not an expert on French cuisine but I can say the food is reminiscent of meals I've enjoyed traveling in France. Service was on point and we were well taken care of throughout the night with each course arriving in a timely manner. Note they do not have parking or valet, so if you make a reservation allow time to find a parking spot in downtown Decatur (some of the public garages are quite pricey so a short walk is worthwhile). Cafe Alsace offers a delicious meal in a romantic setting, so give them a try if you want a can't-miss date night.

Hot, filling, French onion soup, topped with more of the crusty bread and a slice of Gruyère cheese should start off any cold weather meal here. Tonight we came specifically for the raw oysters so we got a dozen they come with the normal cocktail sauce, set up and crackers, but they also have mignonette sauce available. This is one of my go to restaurants for extraordinary meals.
