Came to Spinnakers last month while in Sylvan for a hockey tournament…read more It's a small little mom and pop shop that started out as a coffee shop and has evolved into Vietnamese and bubble tea. I was sooooo excited to find a little hole in the wall and even more excited when I saw CAT artwork on the wall. While we dined we chatted with a few locals. Hubs ordered pho, I ordered vermicelli, and we shared salad rolls and an iced coffee (though I ordered Vietnamese iced coffee). The adorable older couple were attentive and friendly throughout our visit. Unfortunately the flavours did not live up to the excitement of what we had hoped for. That being said the prices are probably the lowest you are going to find for a restaurant in Sylvan and the atmosphere was pleasant. And to be fair, Vietnamese is my absolute favourite food in the world. There wa nothing wrong per se with the food here, but everything was missing that extra something that makes you want that dish again - hubs noted a lack of depth of flavour in the pho. The salad roll was probably the best item we had here. The locals next to us recommended we try the house special chow mein or fried rice next time and the chicken bun. I had ordered the beef bun with spring rolls and did not care for the texture of the beef. If reviewing on the food alone I would give 3 stars but the sweet owners, adorable cat decor, and favorable prices bump this spot up to 4 stars.

Easy to pop into from the highway 2 and since it's part of a strip mall area there was plenty of parking nearby. We were seated right away, the space is quite large and bright. Very sunny vibes. The single person bathrooms are nice but there are only 3 of them I think. I right away was eager to try their fancy coffee - in particular the caramel tiramisu latte (topped with caramel drizzle, whipped cream and cinnamon sprinkle ($5.99) but this drink was a bit of a let down in my opinion. Over the top sweet and since it's served in a glass cup it doesn't retain its heat, gets cold fast, and is actually kind of small. I get that it's a latte but the sheer sweetness makes me wonder is there any coffee in it? Okay I've given you the worst part the food was not disappointing! We ordered the Hot honey chicken Benedict ($19.99) and this was divine! The spicy and sweet combo was excellent and I loved that it got on the Hashbrowns too! Good serving size and eggs were perfect. We also had to order some pancakes and asked for the most popular, which was the signature stacks Cinnabon cakes ($15.99). These were huge and terribly delightful! Fluffy and the sauce combination of cream cheese icing and whip and icing sugar- wowzers! Very good and a reason it's a popular choice. We also got a kids pancakes ($8.49) and added a side of sausage ($2.49). Overall a nice spot for a spot of breakfast.

She never brought a kids' menu, disappeared for long stretches, and ignored our repeated requests for water--it finally showed up right before we left. Even when we asked other servers, we were met with, "I'm busy, you'll have to wait," rather than any willingness to help. When we politely asked Kya about her attitude, her only reply was, "Do you want the manager?" The rudeness and lack of care from beginning to end ruined what should have been a pleasant, celebratory morning. We won't be back.

We both ordered the Hash bowl, which is unusual for us. The service was attentive, and excellent. The ladies were engaging and knew their stuff. The poached eggs were perfect, the potatoes nicely cooked were not crispy as advertised. There was more food on the plate than it looked like there as. We left well fed, and impressed with the experience. Not sure when we will be back in Red Deer, but this place will be on the docket for sure!

The chicken was breaded with the most amazing seasoning. And the hot maple syrup made this dish even more amazing. Love that you can get tater tots with it. This place is amazing.

Lemon with homemade curd and the cookies and cream were delightful. The icing tasted like real sugar and butter and not processed oils! The classic chocolate and earl grey citrus were okay. Moist enough, but lacking a richness of flavour. There was not enough tea flavour to make the earl grey cupcake distinct. In general the owner seemed nice, cupcakes were beautiful, some of the flavours were amazing. I would go again.

Sometimes bubble tea places are slammed but when we arrived it wasn't too busy, but the longer we stayed the more people arrived! Not much for seating, definitely a pick up and take out kind of place. I like being able to pick regular or a jumbo size, plus options with amounts of sugar/sweetener and ice amounts! They had some seats still and a fun photo op spot. BUT absolutely no public washrooms! What we tried: New Red mango coconut Pearl coolers - amazing! With fresh mango this one was my absolute fav for flavor Yamtaro mochi milk tea - really interesting, with a classic milk tea kind of flavor. Fun to try different mochi/pearls. Kyoto Matcha cheesecake - rich and thick. Had a nice matcha flavor as well

I do appreciate that they are open later however (10pm on weekdays, 11pm on weekends, 9pm on Sunday) for those late-night boba cravings! Their interior is very inviting but it is a smaller space with a few tables and a counter to sit down at. The back of the store has a backdrop, ring light, and phone holder for those looking for a mini photo session while waiting for your drinks! The simple reason that they are not my top pick is because I've had a fair share of not-so-great flavours while exploring their selection. Many of their blends that use strawberry tastes like the artificial powder stuff vs. real fruit, and leaves a gritty mouthfeel. I've tried many of their seasonal featured drinks as well and have been left feeling disappointed more than impressed. On the other hand, their milk brulee and cheesecake series have been really good! I also enjoy their fresh avocado latte. Their pearls have also been inconsistent, sometimes being overcooked and other times, too chewy. We've also visited when they ran out of their tapioca but we were still charged full price for our drinks. This is why I think they are deserving of a 3/5 as they have a mix of great, mediocre, and not so great drinks.
