Delicious! And that is evident by how quickly they run out of some flavours, would highly recommend to any locals or anyone visiting.

The staff is so very friendly and make sure you know they really appreciate your business! i was supposed to order bread and treats from The Tasty Bakery on Saturday, as I was coming to Red Deer today from two hours away, but I forgot! I called the store this morning hoping there might be some treats available for me to put aside. The owner Don (such a nice guy) answered the phone and asked what I would like. I told him my order and he did say he didn't have all that I wanted but would do his best! Well, I got to the store just after noon and was grateful he had put aside what he had! I paid and set off for my two hour drive home. I got home and opened the bags and there was EXACTLY what I had ordered! I don't know if he found he had more than he thought or baked extra just for me but I was so surprised and pleased! I don't know why anyone would buy their baked goods anywhere else!

Fantastic little find on the way back to Calgary from Drumheller…read more This is a quaint little diner that appears to be family run. They were all warm and attentive. The photos don't look like much but the seasoning was perfect on everything. I ordered the special of chicken milanesa. It was a pounded chicken breast breaded perfectly, topped with sauteed onions, with a side of fries that I could not finish. My lunch partner ordered a small bowl of borscht, which was not very small, and a meal of perogies. The borscht was loaded with vegetables and sausage. The perogies had a perfect cheese filling and sausage on the side. Both of us had a side of coleslaw with a light but creamy dressing. I cant say enough about their seasoning. It was light but perfect. It totally enhanced the food instead of overwhelming it. This place has perfected some very good hearty recipes. We were way too full to try the pies. That is my only regret. This place is one where I would highly recommend if you are near Drumheller and looking for food. It is worth the 30 min drive

I really hope this review somehow pushes the average of Country Cousins up to 5 full stars. That…read moreit's currently at 4.5 is a travesty. This is the small town dining experience of your, my, and every respectable person's dreams. This is the place that your favourite local joint tries and fails to emulate. This, good people of Yelp, is a place you simply cannot miss if you happen to be out and about in God's country. The Mennonite waitress here was the most sincerely kind server I've ever come across. She was helpful, efficient, and encapsulated the warmth that Country Cousins emanates. Over the course of two visits, I had the Famous Iced Tea, the Mennonite Plate, the 4 Berry Pie, the Peanut Butter Pie, and the pickled carrots. First things first: I'm not sure just how famous the famous iced is, but I can tell you one thing - it's not famous enough. This iced tea would be served iced cold with my last meal. In fact, if it were my last meal I'd die happy. Is it sweet? Oh yeah. But it's got a flavour that I remember from my childhood which I just can't pinpoint. Like Pruste's madeleine, this iced tea brings you way, way, back and leaves you there long after the mason jar the tea is served in has dried up. The Mennonite plate is a wicked combination of Mennonite sausage, the finest cabbage rolls anyone could put together, and the single best half dozen pirogies this man has ever had (get the cottage cheese option). The sausage is made by people that make sausage like their lives depend on it. Meaty, tasty, filling cooked sausage an inch in diameter and split in half. Delicious. The cabbage rolls perfectly combine juicy cabbage with tasty ground beef, pleasantly acidic tomato sauce with sour cream. Yum. But the pirogies are where the sun really shines. These pan fried delights taste like how pirogies can be at their best. The dough stands out with a starchy flavour of its own, and the cottage cheese provides that cottage cheese texture that only it has, along with a familiar tang. The pirogies are dressed in a rich white sauce that probably isn't necessary but definitely doesn't hurt either. The 4 Berry Pie meets and exceeds your expectations for what small town pie can be - juicy, sweet, whole berry fillings ooze under the most buttery, flaky crust imaginable. The Peanut Butter Pie is unlike any pie I've ever had. It has a custard and whipped cream base which is essentially flavoured with peanut butter. Delicious, but a bit too sweet for my liking. Had to drown it down with that Famous Iced Tea. The pickled carrots were a revelation. Perfect crunch, perfect proportions of dill and garlic. Just a delight. Bought a jar to bring back home. Overall, Country Cousin's an absolute must-try if you're in the area. An experience you won't soon forget.

I won a 50 dollar gift certificate from them, and have had nothing but trouble trying to get it. I…read morewas told I could use it online, instead of in person, which is the only fair thing to do, as they do not have a store in my city, they just come to town once in a while, at an event center, as part of a show, and there is a 15 dollar or so entrance fee to the show....you cannot, legally, ask someone to pay any amount of money whatsoever to collect a prize, so you can't ask someone to pay a 15 dollar door fee to collect their prize. Well, first they said I could use it online, then suddenly they said, no I couldn't. They said it would be 'easier' to use in person. Easier for who? Not for me. It is not easier for me to get across the city, pay 15 dollars to get into a show I don't want to see, and walk a zillion miles around an event center to locate their booth. I had been asking them about ingredients, and things, and that was why they said it would be 'easier', I think - they meant, well, just go to the booth and look at the ingredients yourself. I'd also been asking about who they use as a shipper. Well, sorry, but, no, going to the show isn't easier for me, it's easier for them. In my opinion, it is completely unprofessional behavior. I spent months trying to get them to answer simple questions about ingredients and such - they'd take weeks to get back to me. I personally think what happened was that they didn't want to take the time to snap a few photos of ingredient lists, so it was easier for them - not me - if I just went to the show. I was always super polite. I didn't want to be rude, or drag in into the public sphere. I didn't want to do any of that, unless I had to. There is no reason to do that, unless you have to, unless you've tired all other options. Well, I've tried all other options. I've emailed, phoned, tweeted, and FB messaged them, and it didn't work. When they told me it would be 'easier' to just use it in person, I wrote back, politely explaining that it wasn't easier, etc., and just asking if I could please place an online order as we already had agreed I could do, and their response? To ignore me. Never wrote me back. I could see, because this was on FB, that the message had been read. But nobody wrote back, ever. That is completely unprofessional. What it felt like to me was that since I wasn't paying for these products, they could treat me badly. I don't know how that makes sense to them. All it means is that, due to their terrible behavior, I won't want to spend my money with them in the future. It's just not professional behavior. I have contacted them again for the zillionth time, and we will see what happens. If they contact me and finally do the right thing, I will update this review. If not, the bad review stays, because that's what they deserve. Don't want bad publicity? Then don't give people reasons to write bad reviews. UPDATE - a very nice woman did get back to me, and offered to remedy the situation. Once that is finalized, I will delete this entire review.

We drove up and a man asked if it was our first time and where we were visiting from. He was lovely and I assume he's the owner. A full pail of berries is $15 and we only picked half a pail so they charged us $7. The boys had Saskatoon slushies and hubby was thrilled to find tiger tail ice cream. Childhood flashback!!! They have a lovely swing set and play area for the kids and before we left we purchased a Saskatoon black currant pie, 6 Saskatoon apple tarts which were delicious!!! And a jar of jam. Saving the pie for tomorrow but the tart pastry was light and flaky. I'd definitely go back to pick berries next year. It's about an hour drive from Calgary and we also stopped at the Torrington Gopher Museum. That'll be in a separate review!
