Whilst I appreciate their knowledge in general on obesity and acknowledging it's a chronic disease…read more I couldn't NOT get on board that they believe T2D just can "go away" or be "cured". T2D once diagnosed it's either you're CONTROLLED or you're not. To be told that directly from one of the obesity doctors and then told this by one of the dietitians.... Made me feel completely sick to my stomach. To spread such misinformation is beyond scary. I also cannot get on board that they think GLP1 medicines are a "tool" to help aide in weight loss... rather than it being a life long medicine. Would you tell a patient with HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE to just get off their meds?! NO! I challenge their way of thinking and ask, okay let's say someone loses their weight with the help of a GLP1 medicine, then gets off. You think the food noise is just miraculously cured?! Or their metabolic dysregulation is cured as well?! WHY do other obesity doctors disagree with their old way of thinking, and agree with what I am saying?! In my opinion that's just lazy medical practice of thinking with an OUTDATED mentality. Please step into 2024! I cried after getting off my dietitian call, that was the LAST straw for me. To be basically told for the 2nd time for someone who works at this place- that my T2D is basically gone - I wanted to scream. I cannot say this enough ... it doesn't matter if you lost 150lbs and your A1C is 5.5! ONCE A DIABETIC ALWAYS ONE. You are again- either CONTROLLED OR YOU ARE NOT. WHY is that so hard to grasp?! Unbelievable! WHY are all dietitians the same?! It's like they read out of the same damn text book and there's a huge disconnect. I basically paid $150 for her to tell me to eventually do KETO.... Right.... Like I haven't tried that SEVERAL times in my damn life. How insulting and degrading. I WILL be on the hunt for a good, informed, up to date onesity doc/clinic. It's such a shame we have to shop doctors because not enough want to get on board in 2024 and keep up with the data that proves GLP1 medicines are helping aid in so many chronic conditions that they ARE for LONG TERM maintenance. Should've known there was a red flag when they have as their slogan "we try the HOLISTIC approach to weight loss". Yeah.... Okay. Aka move your body more, eat less (ring a bell to anyone?!) and this time we'll use these GLP1 meds until we say you should stop... HOW they cannot see the disconnect here I'll never understand. Thank GOD I've educated myself and I didn't go into anyone of those meetings blindly.

A month after completing my sessions, Jamie from the front desk informed me that she just changed my insurance EOB, and my copay was not applicable to the office and deductible. Now, I'm being billed an unreasonable and exorbitant amount for treatments that lasted less than five minutes each! How could you change insruance EOB after 10 continuous visits? Why don't you tell me at the first visit????? How could you lie to you customer it's in network but it's not? It's very, very, very unprofessional. Be careful beofre visiting!!!!!!!!!!!

Update- 4 years post sleeve…read more Absolutely phenomenal from the initial meeting to now, 4 years later. My husband, myself and my husband's mother have all had gastric sleeves done with Dr. Billings. His bedside manner is wonderful. The price is high (paid out of pocket) but you get what you pay for - we literally bought ourselves more LIFE. More TIME. More ENERGY. More MENTAL SPACE (not having to worry about everything I put in my mouth). It sounds drastic- cutting out 70% of your stomach, but honestly it reset our bodies to experience fullness in a completely new way. I could always eat a little "more" before. I'd be "full" but seemed to have a second stomach or sugar/desserts. Now the experience of fullness is completely different. It's dramatic and intense- no more insane cravings to binge or mental fixation on the next diet craze. We had kids late, at 38 and 41, and I can chase after my toddler without feeling winded. I don't feel like a constant failure for eating carbs. The only food I can't tolerate that I could pre-sleeve is dairy milk. All meats, nuts, raw veggies, etc are fine. A lot of people have negative bias against gastric sleeves because they know someone who did it a decade or more ago and it "didn't work" long term. I'm here to say the technology has improved dramatically. I believe it's going to be incredibly common in the US in the next 10 years and will be solution to the obesity epidemic for those of us who were raised by the 50 billion dollar diet industry. Note- I'm not a fan of ideal protein, the low calorie nutritional program they have- I did it 4x at other places before getting sleeved. Always gained the weight back after the program ended and I was starving while doing it. After being sleeved, I no longer have to worry about food. I yo-yo dieted for 27 years (since I was 10 years-old). I was always 30-60lbs overweight, not huge but mentally the load was insane. To be honest, the recovery was fairly simple. Easier than my C-section when I was fat. Pain was only bad days 1 and 2. I lost 100lbs and have effortlessly kept it off for 4 years, I am 43 years-old and even had baby #2 after surgery. The 29lbs I gained during this time pregnancy fell off effortlessly in 6 weeks postpartum. When I was fat I gained 60lbs and only lost 10lbs afterwards (my baby was 10lbs so I held onto the extra 50 lb weight gain post baby #1). I can't say enough good things about Dr. Billings and his team when it comes to gastric sleeve surgery.
