I hired Craig and his team to cater my wedding, which took place at a remote venue about 2 hours outside of Tucson. The event was a challenge because not only was it remote, but I was also planning the event from the other side of the country. That meant I didn't have the benefit of meeting with caterers in person, trying food in advance, and undertaking all the traditional steps of finding vendors for a wedding. I knew I had found the right person to handle the event from the very first call. He was cordial, asked the right questions, clearly communicated his requirements, and was honest. He didn't disappear or go radio silent after I signed the contract and he was communicative all the way through the planning process and leading up to the event. About two months before the event, he graciously drove the two hours out to the venue to conduct a property walk-through with me when I was in town for the holidays. He refused additional reimbursement for his time or gas money to get out to the venue. In the last month leading up to the event, I communicated to Craig that a few of my guests had some allergies, and one was vegan. This was a quaint wedding of only about 20 people, so that meant coming up with some original alternatives for those few individuals. Furthermore, I hired him to prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner the day of the wedding, which exasperated those challenges. On the day of the event, he had a custom vegan-friendly dish prepared for all three meals and took extraordinary precautions to prevent allergen cross-contamination. Every single meal was punctual, artfully presented, and delicious. This is not your standard wedding food or copy-and-paste banquet meal. Craig is extraordinarily talented and was continuously present throughout each meal to greet guests and present his dishes. Every guest was impressed and raving about the food. In addition to the tremendous food, Craig also helped to arrange servers for the event and even helped bring additional tables for the event. Craig is just a genuinely good person and you cannot do better than hiring him for your next event.

I was just thinking about the holidays the other day. Chef Craig will go to your home and teach "how to cook the best holiday dinner ever". It'd be a fun at-home class/pre-holiday party with friends who also want to learn how to wow their friends and families. Or, I could always get a private lesson and take the credit for myself ; ).

Tucson JCC - The J is a vibrant non-profit community center that serves over 5,000 members on its 110,000 square-foot facility.

When snowbirds are here you can't really get into classes ( most are great) unless you set alarms for yourself and sign up a couple of days ahead. The place skews older and I although there are high school kids there in the afternoons it's not age diverse. Plus side is it's very forgiving and a great place to start weight lifting and more. There are paid programs for that and I think that would be worth it. I belong to a few other places so it's not a problem. I really like yin yoga there and trx . If this is going to be your main place you will be frustrated.

I discovered the Tucson Jewish Community Center after they hosted the Hot Cocoa Run 5K (hands down one of the funnest, most vendor-packed races I've ever done ), and let me tell you--walking into the JCC feels like stepping into a whole other world. This place is HUGE and has everything. They gifted a week pass in our swag bags from 5k and I fully leaned in--and I'm so glad I did. First off, the community + programming here is next level. I got to participate in pottery and ceramics classes (SO fun and surprisingly legit), and I love that they partner with local creatives and groups. It gives the whole place a collab, community-driven feel that I'm always looking for. On the fitness side--they're not playing around. I took multiple classes, and their cycle class (aka performance ride ) was actually really solid. Great energy, great programming. I also hit a strength-based class that delivered, and the gym floor itself is super clean, spacious, and not overcrowded (major win). The crowd is also refreshingly diverse in age, which I loved--it truly feels inclusive. And can we talk about the Cafe at the J... because YES. Tons of vegan options , actually flavorful, and super affordable. Not your typical "gym cafe" situation at all. Beyond that, this place is basically a mini campus--tennis, pools, art spaces, events, rentals, and even traditional Jewish baked goods (fresh bread, hello ). They also host a TON of events--like so many it's hard to keep up--so definitely check their calendar because there's always something happening. Overall, I'd absolutely go back. Whether you're going for fitness, arts, community events, or just to explore something new in Tucson--this place is a whole experience.

A masterpiece of culinary intention - my 70th birthday dinner!…read more When I decided to celebrate my 70th birthday with seven beloved guests, I knew I wanted something truly extraordinary. Chef Adrian Ortega of ADOR Cuisine delivered what I can only describe as the ultimate experience -- and that is exactly what he promises. Chef Adrian designed a stunning five-course dinner, each course paired with a cocktail or mocktail from his custom elixir menu. What made the elixirs truly remarkable is that they were crafted from all-natural ingredients -- including fresh vegetables -- and tasted absolutely wonderful. Who knew butternut squash could be the star of a cocktail? My personal favorite, the Butternut Fresca, was a vibrant, silky blend that was as surprising as it was delicious. The evening flowed beautifully from the opening Sonoran Beets appetizer through a vibrant Spiralized Roots salad, a soulful Smokey Chili Broth, and the artfully composed Metamorphisis -- a course as beautiful to look at as it was to taste. With a secret change, hence the name Metamorphosis. Dessert was a double delight: a showstopping Capirotada Baklava followed by a delicate Citrus Olive Oil Birthday Cake that brought the evening to a perfect, luminous close. What sets Chef Adrian apart is that he cooks with intention. You feel it in every course -- the cultural depth, the creativity, the genuine desire to honor his guests. My table was filled with joy, laughter, and pure amazement all evening long. If you are looking for a personal chef who elevates any occasion into an unforgettable memory, look no further. Chef Adrian Ortega and ADOR Cuisine are in a class of their own. He made my 70th birthday one of the greatest nights of my life.
