I'll admit -- I wasn't sure about this place at first, but I was pleasantly surprised. As my wife and I walked along the Hollywood Beach boardwalk, nearly every host and hostess from different restaurants tried to pull us in. We were tired, hungry, and ready to commit somewhere when a lovely hostess warmly invited us into her restaurant. Just before that, another place called Venice had tried to entice us. She smiled and said, "You're from NYC -- do you really think you're going to like the pizza there?" She made a lot of sense. That bit of honesty won us over, and she seated us at what felt like the best table in the house. My wife ordered a virgin piña colada, and I went with the regular version. Both were icy, creamy, and delicious -- the perfect start to a relaxing evening. We shared a strip steak served with sweet plantains and wonderful white rice, along with a beautifully fried fish dish. Both entrées were flavorful and satisfying -- simple, well-prepared, and exactly what we were hoping for. As we lingered over our piña coladas, we watched the steady parade of life along the boardwalk -- people strolling, skating, riding bikes, and walking along the sand by the ocean. The breeze was gentle, the atmosphere easy and relaxed. It was the perfect Florida night. Our waitress was attentive and genuinely kind, which only added to the experience. The overall experience was okay, but despite the price, I was not impressed with anything in particular. The beach front view is great. The fried fish appetizer was tasty, but the fish did not hold together on the fork to even use the dipping sauce. I'm not sure if this was because of the amount of time the fish was cooked, or the type of fish. Either way, it was close to being really good but fell short. The tallarin verde (pesto pasta w/ steak) had meat that felt like it was cooked on a BBQ. The lomo saltado was ordered medium temperature for the steak, but the large chunks we served rare. While the serving size was great, the food may have come out unexpectedfly fast. In fact, maybe 2-3 minutes after our appetizer arrived, our main courses arrived. We did voice our concern about the temperature and they removed it from the bill. Additionally, both dishes above were Market Price for the beef. The cocktails were also decent (pisco sour & a similar passion/mint/peaflower variation). While the food appearance of the food says "Peruvian", the flavor doesn't quite meet expectations I have based on many other encounters. read more

Mini weekend getaway while staying at Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort. We were a group of four and very hungry the Broadwalk is full of options, but Peruvian food rarely disappoints, so we decided to give At Peru a try. Great choice. The server was friendly and attentive, and they even offered vegetarian options, which we really appreciated. Food came out quickly and hot. The pescado a lo macho was absolutely delicious, and the fried fish was huge and very fresh (just be ready it's over $60, but worth it) Loved the ambience with the music and ocean waves in the background. I was hanging out at the Hollywood Beach and needed to grab some dinner. I had Peruvian food for the first time just a few days before so when I saw this restaurant I knew I had to go. I ordered a seafood mix ceviche and the grilled fish with rice and plantains. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!! The fish was soooo fresh and the grilled fish entree was THE BEST fish I've ever had in my life! It was perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. Compliments to the chef that night. The ceviche was a bit smaller than I was expecting for the price so that is why I ordered the grilled fish and I'm so glad I did. The pricing is a bit higher than is normal since I spent almost $70 for just me. Food is good; pretty consistent every time I go. Last time we were there for breakfast. They have a variety of choices; American, healthy BF and Peruvian. We order the American and Peruvian BF and both were good. The scrambled eggs tasted very fresh and not sponge. The Peruvian chicharron was great; not too fatty. And the tamal was delicious. The bet part is the salsa criolla; which they make with leche de tigre. Service was ok; the place git busy and they were short on staff. A small group of us were walking on Hollywood Beach and decided to stop for Peruvian Ceviche. We decided to sit at the bar. They take a while to take our order although there were 3 people in and out from behind the bar. We were sad that they didn't have drafts; but they had plenty bottle beers. The beers were not cold enough and I really wanted it colder since the day was so hot. But I know that is more of a preference. The ceviche was great. It did not disappoint. Looking at the reviews of this place make me laugh, it's like either a 5 star or 1 star review, and it's even funny when people came here and ordered tacos at a perucvian redtaraunt. You go to Peruvian restaurants to get ceviche, papas a la huncaina and lomo slatado, not chicken tacos lol. That being said, the ceviche we had was excellent, we got the street ceviche mixto. More than enough for two people to share. It surprisingly came with fried calamari, along with , , and , it was really fresh and the fried calamari gave it some great additional crunch for texture. You can order the calamari mild, spicy or hot, but if the person you're sharing with doesn't like spiced don't worry, they have some good hot sauces in the side you can mix in. The drinks are definitely over priced, even if it's buy one get one free happy hour, don't let them fool you thinking that if you order two drinks to start, that one of those are free, you are expected to get a 2nd round of each that is free instead. read more

What a great find on the Broadwalk! We were just taking a nice walk on the Broadwalk, when the menu board caught our attention. My hubby is a sucker for Ceviche, and I was craving for octopus , so we decided to give it a try. When we arrived, they were getting ready to close, but the owners welcome us in. When the food came, and took the first bite, we knew we made a good choice. The grill octopus had great flavor, not rubbery or chewy. The ceviche was also fabulous, and even though it's $19, they do give you a good amount of shrimps. Since it was closing time, we asked for the check, because we did not want to hold back their cleaning. However, Mario, the owner, told us to take our time, and we actually had a great conversation.
