Sloppy. That's the one word I would best use to describe this painting company. I hired Ben and his crew to paint my apartment last December, and ultimately I wish I had gone with a different painting crew. The problems were myriad, including: 1) A shoddy paint job showing a lack of attention to detail. As you can see from my attached photos, there were large splotches of mismatched colored walls in my closet, and a doorframe to one of my closets was obviously not painted carefully as evidenced by the poor finished product. Dried speckles of paint were sprinkled literally all throughout my apartment's floors. I spent well over 8 hours cleaning off all of the dried paint that these guys left behind on my apartment's floors, so they quite clearly do not cover the floors with any protective layer, nor do they demonstrate any care when doing the actual painting. 2) Garbage left in my sinks, and dried paint left behind all over my sinks and bath tubs. Totally understandable that these guys would wash their equipment in my apartment, but totally unacceptable for them to leave a mess of dried paint caked all over my sinks and bath tubs that I had to clean myself. 3) Poor communication and lack of follow up when these problems were brought to their attention. I sent numerous emails to Ben about these problems and gave him multiple opportunities to fix them, but he simply stopped returning the emails. Clearly, Ben and his company show little concern or care for ensuring customer satisfaction. All in all, I would absolutely NOT recommend hiring Ben and his crew for your next paint job. While they are definitely not the most expensive paint crew, the old adage 'you get what you pay for' is quite evident here. The shoddy craftsmanship, piss poor communication, general carelessness and inattention to detail, and disregard for customer satisfaction all add up to money that is most definitely not well spent here, and I would highly recommend NOT hiring Ben and his crew to paint your next project. read more

Zero liability, shady work and horrible service. Ben painted our apartment while we were not present. He was supposed to paint the whole apartment but he deliberately skipped some areas including a partial wall painted in gray primer where the whole apartment is painted in white. Upon reaching out to him (in the rare case he answered the phone) he was pretending to be nice but actually was not willing to come finish the job and kept postponing and then not answering the phone. We had to chase him down for more than two months and ended up giving up and hiring another contractor to finish the job. read more

I can't recommend Ben and crew highly enough. I found AT on Yelp and they just finished painting my entire apartment. Ben was communicative from beginning to end and accommodated a very ambitious schedule. He jumped through the hoops of my Co-op (including COVID protections), ordered everything, and used quality materials. The crew were professional and their work was thorough, including the clean-up. There was a lot of patching that needed to be done (~100 drywall anchors) and you can no longer see where they were. All in all, a true pleasure to work with. read more

Two of his crew spray-painted four tin ceilings in my apartment-spray painted!-and I now have friends and family who are asking how much I spent on the new ceilings I had installed! They don't believe me! Santos, another member of the team, had the unenviable job of painting a room that had small molding outlines on each wall which needed to be painted a different color than the main wall. Michelangelo might have tossed all his supplies in frustration and gone fishing had he been approached to do this job but Santos killed it with the utmost patience, precision and artistic talent. Ben and his team are top-notch professionals and people. From the moment Ben stepped into my apartment (mask on!) to look around and give me an estimate to the moment they finished the job, I felt I was in great hands. Painting an apartment can be stressful and time consuming and Ben essentially eliminated both of those concerns throughout the process. I only wish I'd picked up the phone to call him sooner! His price was competitive and more than reasonable given the quality of work they put into painting our space. We are incredibly happy with our apartment and the paint job just makes our experience in it so much more enjoyable. Particularly during these COVID times when we are all bottled up inside, it makes a huge difference. I live in a large COOP building in Brooklyn which means there is often red-tape and paperwork involved thanks to our management company and Ben was patient, efficient and professional when working with them ( no easy task!) to get all the paperwork needed to do the job. We also hired him to do some other work in our building and his team has done several jobs inside our space for other tenants as well. All reviews have been glowing and 5-stars. I spoke to this company on Wed 12/4/19 He was suppose to go to the house the next day Between 12p-4p to give me an estimate. I notified the aid there that he was coming. He also said the address was very close to him. Well the next day no one showed up and no one bothered to call me or text me to explain why I was blown off. It is now 12/6/19 and no one came and once again no one bothered to call or text. I absolutely hate it when a supposed professional company fails to do want they say and don't even have the slightest consideration to call or text that your not coming for whatever reason. I wouldn't use this company now even if he offered to do the job for free. There's is no excuse to behave this way when your in business to make money. Ben and his team were a pleasure to work with. We had a leak in the basement and a wall section which had to be removed was plaster, rather than your typical sheet rock. Our local handyman wouldn't touch it so we turned to yelp and found AT Paint and Plaster. Ben was very prompt with the follow-up and we scheduled an estimate. He got back to us quickly after seeing the room with a reasonable quote and we scheduled the work. The work was supposed to take two days but due to issues with our wall (water damage - our issue, not theirs) it took an extra day. Ben and his team could not have been better about scheduling the extra day (no extra cost as his quote is all inclusive for labor and materials - no surprises!), coming on Sunday to get it finished up. This is a long overdue review. We had Anthony paint two apartments in a house we have owned for 25 years. Even though his reviews are stellar, I was blown away by how good his work is. He and his crew took incredible care to make sure every surface was protected. At the end of the first day, I could not believe how much work he completed, and I could not see a single spot of paint on his clothes. When I pointed that out, he said he worked for one of the major museums in NYC for several years working on building exhibits and learned how to paint very carefully. His work is superb and reasonably priced. He came when he said he would and finished right on time, which is pretty rare for even the best contractors. Benny and his worker helped me fix a pretty badly damaged door jamb and corner bead after the fire department knocked down our door to respond to our neighbor's roof fire. He was prompt and courteous in my communication with him. He even helped me with remounting the deadbolt that got knocked loose and patched surrounding cracks in the drywall unrelated to the initial damage. The work was completed the same day, which other contractors I spoke to claimed would be at least 2 days. The work done was professional and it was hard to tell if anything happened to the drywall at all after painting. Benny also came in at a better price than all the other contractors I contacted. I really can't say enough about Ben at AT Paint and Plaster. I had just purchased a 3 family home and needed to paint it ASAP so that I could rent out the other units as soon as possible. I got several estimates but ultimately decided on Ben because he really listened to what I wanted and didn't push his agenda on me...he "got" my vision and understood why I saw some things as important and others as not such a big deal. It also helped that he had the best quote and could start right away! Throughout the process Ben was so agreeable, always had a can do attitude, and just brought great energy into my new home. His crew was respectful, kind, and did great work. There were some things I decided to add along the way, and others I decided could wait, and again, Ben's answer as always was, "no problem!" There was a moment where I decided I wanted one of the hallways grey instead of white but we'd used up all of the grey I wanted. So Ben mixed the white he was working with into a darker grey he had gotten to match an existing wall color, and magically created the exact soft grey I'd wanted! I wish everyone I hired was as easy to work with, as fun, and as professional as Ben. I will definitely be hiring him again to paint the rest of my home. I contacted Ben for a job that had a very tight window on my apt in LIC. He comes exactly on time and cleans up any mess once he is said and done if any. Be aware! This contractor (Ben) did a poor job at our apt, skipped walls, left areas with only Primer and no finish and worst of all - was not available/willing to come and finish the job. Tried to get him to come and spend a couple hours finishing what was undone - no success as he kept avoiding calls, not answering and whenever he did answer he kept postponing as he is super busy etc. Unfortunately I had to hire another contractor to finish the areas that needed finish. We got a few quotes to repair structural cracks in our drywall and painting. We went with ATP as their rates were competitive and Ben at ATP was extremely responsive. Ben didn't disappoint! He and his men were professional and did an excellent job. While he was there, my building super came by to take a look at my sink's broken faucet. The super said he couldn't fix the problem, but Ben said he knew what the issue was, that it was a quick fix and he had the part! Ben fixed the sink and only charged the price of the part. Why call anyone else? I have called upon AT Paint and Plater a number of times for several different home repairs as well as major work. It can be difficult getting the right people to do work on your home, especially when you don't know if the price is really right. This time I didn't hesitate nor did they make me wait. My work needs were addressed without the price gauging or unnecessary bogus work orders. I wanted to paint a small room and when it was completed I couldn't resist having 4 more done by this company. I'm honestly thrilled with the work, timeline and professionalism overall. During this time I expressed my concerns throughout other areas of my home. Ben did a walk though and offered estimates. I didn't feel pressured as he knew I would be getting quotes elsewhere as well. After all that quote wasting time I decided to stick with one company. When I thought I needed a new liter for my house, Ben came by to survey. He not only gave me a fair price but did the work immediately. In fact I never met him since we were traveling and decided to have our living room painted while away but he worked with my neighbors to get the job done in time. Overall, we were very pleased with Ben and their crew. Ben was very professional and very attentive in solving our problems. Ben and his crew knew exactly what to do to solve my kitchen's ceiling crack and finishing our bathroom tiling and painted the entire bathroom ceiling as well. Ben went beyond what was expected to the extent of buying a special cleaner to clean the haze that was originally left from the previous contractor. Not many contractors would do what he did, we fully appreciate it. His pricing was very reasonable and fair. There was a mishap, but at the end of the job, we were pleased with the job.
