The Roadrunner Transit building is handy if you need to use the restroom or want to buy a day pass. And it is easy to catch the right bus as each stop is clearly marked with the route number.

At first was a little concerned about what my trailer looked liked the day I arrived (had 4 blown tires traveling here and was dirty) before I moved into my spot I found a place to wash my trailer. After that we moved in. They offer 24/7 showers, bathroom, and coin pay laundry at the front by the store (store has its own hours). The place is very cleaned up compared to the last park I stayed at. While I've been here, they have been updating the gravel at spots as it clears. Was really fine gravel now has more Re painting the decorative fences between spots. Doing good trimming on the trees and plants in the area.

The new owners are cleaning up the cat situation and are remodeling the common areas. They are removing and replanting the trees that are dead or dying. They will be improving the campsites by installing sod. I really enjoyed dealing with the park staff. They were always friendly and helpful and they also watch things so you don't have to worry about people stealing or bothering your items even if you leave them out while you are away. Our spot we rented had a pole teather that went right through the middle of our parking area, so we could park but not use our awning. Laundry room is clean and pretty cheap. $2.00 for washer $1.50 for dryer. There is only 4 of each though. They also have a rec room with a pool table and bookcase, tv and couches. Dog park is sand, but they do provide lots of doggie bags and cans. They are pretty strict on the no fences for dogs and 6foot leash at all times. Our site was backed up to the main road and it's super busy, cop cars speeding by with lights and sirens on, ambulances, ATV and side by sides speeding and loud music. Super loud road, we tried to get a spot in the back but unfortunately we were put on a waiting list which was long, since people stay there for years. The worst part of the entire stay is the dairy farm being less than half a mile from the rv park, the wind changes and it smells like the cows are inside your camper, the amount of files were disgusting. Never ending flies that would swarm you if you sit outside, and your dogs. Overall this is a okay park if you are okay with smelling cows at random times and files all the time. But there is hardly any availability, for people to stay one or two nights, they only have a couple open. The workers do patrol on golf florets all the time and even drive through the rear of sites.

The towels & toilet paper were made of sand paper. The sheets were stained & so totally stinky/smelly with chemicals I was thrilled my husband brought our sleeping bags & pillows which we used. The room was queerly arranged. The only accessible electrical out let was very far away from the bed, tho there was one with no way to reach it way behind the head board. Every light switch plate was covered with fingerprints. The toilet seat was sticky-was that unrinsed soap?? a dirty sponge?? or something else? much worse?? We had to disinfect & rinse the toilet seat first thing before we even got our belongings out of the car. At least the manager was nice.

We spent just one night at the Lundeen Inn of the Arts, but could easily have enjoyed a week there…read more It's an amazing combination of bed & breakfast, art gallery, and a welcome change from staying at motels. The place is family-owned and -run, and as a guest there you are welcomed and made to feel at home by Linda Lundeen and her daughter, Lydia. Each room is themed to a particular artist. We enjoyed the Georgia O'Keeffe room, which was bathed in natural light. Another visitor mentioned that their room had but one small window. This is an older and decidedly eclectic place, so don't expect a modern room with all the amenities. The place's charm more than makes up for it. Good coffee is ready at 6:30 am along with pastries, with a hot homemade breakfast served at 8:30. Fruit and juice are available. Linda Lundeen visits with everyone during breakfast. At age 86, she is sharp, spunky, and has a positive outlook. She reminded me greatly of my sister. We would stay at Lundeen's again in a heartbeat.

This is the closest campground I found near White Sands; it was about a 40 minute drive. The stars were beautiful. Make sure to bring exactly $7 cash as you deposit it into the box to get a permit. There were picnic tables and grills for each campsite. We had a nearby garbage bin. The vault toilets were surprisingly very, very clean. The Pine Loop Trail was a lovely four-mile hike that starts right by the campground. It takes you up into the mountains, and it took us about two hours to complete. There were many false trails that weren't marked. It's rated as moderate, although I think it was more challenging.

You can leave this campground anytime (insert boomer Hotel California Dad joke here), but you can't get back in. How do they accomplish this? The road into the campground is gated. The gate is locked on one side (driver's right) and the other side is open, BUT it has those one-way spikes like the rental car agencies have. This is brutal. We were here trying to do rock climbs in the Organs and we had to SPEED back into the campground to not miss the 6pm cutoff. It made it impossible to enjoy the lovely eateries and breweries in Las Cruces so...we chose not to sleep here for multiple nights and just leave our tent setup. Having said all that, this campground is immaculate. It's one of the nicest public campgrounds I've stayed at. Every site has a fire ring, a grill, a picnic table WITH a minipavillion, and a flat area to pitch a tent. To top it all off, it's only $7 a night and has amazing views of the Organ mountains! My guess is that this area has problems with rampant vandalism (many of the Organ mountain trailheads are also locked from 8am to 6pm) and is maybe understaffed, so this is their solution to the issues. If you go to bed early and are really good at cooking in a campground, this is the spot for you. If you're the type of person that likes big days in the mountains followed by hiking out by headlamp followed by crispy brews in town...look elsewhere.
