So, I've have been a Verizon phone customer for 9 years. Then about a month and a half ago a guy…read morenamed Jered knocked on my door. He promised me 178 Mbps wireless Internet with Verizon. He said "That's our tower right there" So, I signed up. I averaged about 30 Mbps when I used the Ookla Speed Test. So I began to call. I got varying responses. 100 Mbps, 40-80 Mbps, 50-100 Mbps, on and on. My complaint was upgraded to the offices in New York City! But nothing changed, they offered higher speeds for more money and a different plan. "Hmmm. You mean I can pay more?" I asked. Well that's a bargain. What value! What a choice! "But can't I just get what I'm paying for?" I asked. So eventually they sent a technician over. He said " That's not our tower and the way your house is built, Verizon Wireless is a bad choice. So, I went ahead and got a different mobile phone company and Internet service provider. Verizon lost a 9 year customer. Unfortunately it took more than a month to hash this out. So, the moral of the story is: Verizon will poach you away from your existing provider, offer you the moon, the stars, the sun, but lie and leave you in the dark. Oh, by the way, Verizon trained Jered, and he gets commission.
