What a cool bridge!…read more My family had me worried about driving over it, but it wasn't a big deal at all. Just merging and slow due to the high volume of traffic. LET'S GO MAINE !!!!

If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you'll probably want to know is how incredibly…read moredepressing the George Washington Bridge is. It's supposed to be this grand, important thing they even name drop old George Washington like he'd actually care about a bunch of noisy cars crawling into New Jersey. It's the "world's busiest motor vehicle bridge," which just means it's packed full of thousands of miserable phonies trapped in their automobiles, honking at each other and getting nowhere fast. They brag about having fourteen whole lanes and being double-decked, but all that really means is you get twice as much exhaust fumes in your face. If you look up the facts, it's 4,760 feet long, and back in 1931, it was the longest bridge span in the whole damn world until the Golden Gate Bridge opened up in San Francisco and stole its thunder. People get so excited about those stupid records, like having fourteen lanes of traffic is something to write home about. And then you look at all these photos of it. People take these fancy pictures at sunset or night when all the lights are on, making it look all romantic and marvelous, but it's pure nonsense. In real life, it's just cold gray steel, buzzing lanes, and a bunch of construction guys dangling off cables doing biennial inspections while a million semi-trucks rumble underneath them. Looking at all those endless cars crawling across the Hudson River packed with sad faces just makes you feel depressed as hell.
