Things were fine for most of the two years I was a patient here, but everything fell apart toward the end. Braces treatment normally runs for about 2 years, but I was only in braces for roughly 16 months (22 months total, but 6 of those were on a different appliance not braces). He told us my teeth were ready and perfect, and since he is the specialist, we trusted his judgment. I now realize that it was too early to end treatment, especially since we still had about a year of treatment left on our contract. The contract was $58 per month, but at the last visit, we had to pay the rest of the future payments, totaling around $700, meaning literally had 12 months left. On top of that, at one point my back molar was broken off during treatment, and when I asked to have it fixed, I was flatly refused. I am still confused on why they never fixed it after so many visits. When it came time for retainers, which cost $700, significantly more than other offices charge. For $700 I expected this to be done right, but instead the back molars were cut off on both my top and bottom retainers, leaving them exposed. Since then, my molars have shifted inward and my jaw has dropped, and I've started grinding my teeth in my sleep which is something that never happened before. I brought a second opinion from another orthodontist, Harvard trained, 30+ years of experience, owner of two practices, along with clear photos showing my molars curving inward. He still insisted that he did a perfect job. There was literally a model of an ideal jaw and molar shape sitting on his own desk that contradicted his position, and he still refused to acknowledge anything was wrong. It was infuriating. He then dismissed the second orthodontist's credentials and accused him of just "trying to get braces money". I tried to talk to him, showing him other images but he just completely dismissed me and walked out of the room, leaving us sitting there alone for about 10 minutes. Didn't even say where he was going, just sat up and left, which felt so disrespectful. When someone else finally came back to us, we asked twice to speak with him directly and he refused us both times. He didn't even have the courtesy to address his own patients face to face, especially when he knows that I am clearly frustrated. His "solution" is that if we want to go back into braces or redo the retainers, we'd have to pay full price again for a treatment that ended early and retainers that didn't work correctly the first time. We stated many times that he should at least own up to his mistake and at least redo the brace or retainers but yet again, he refused. He ultimately relayed a message saying he "refuses to go through with any further treatment." I feel frustrated, disrespected, and honestly worried about my own teeth because of how this was handled. Please do your research and get a second opinion before committing to this office. Since he took over this practice, it looks like the negative reviews only started once he took over. Dr. Hoang, the previous orthodontist, had such a genuinely good reputation. read more
