made a 1pm appointment for a Russian manicure and was waiting for 20 more minutes. I understand an appointment running behind, but "one more minute" assurances for 15 minutes? I'll pass. And after a glowing review from a friend after a walk in appointment. Incredibly disappointed. read more

I went in a few days ago. Nail tech showed up 25 minutes late which i was willing to overlook however she started rushing the process. She pushed my cuticles too far back and cut 6/10 fingers, 2 of which had bled. On top of the French tip came out bumpy and thick . The owner also kept pushing gel x when I kept saying I wanted acrylic. read more

How did I end up at Astoria Nails? I purchased a great Groupon deal for two gel manicures. I don't get my nails done regularly as I have in the past but decided to make a decision to indulge in self-care for myself. My initial visit was cool and at that time I decided to purchase a pedicure which was great. However, I noticed the next day that my gel manicure had begun to chip and I was upset because as each day passed, it chipped even more. I didn't want to write a negative review without giving them an opportunity to fix the situation. I called and explain what happened and I was told to come in to rectify the problem. The second visit was good because she did the gel manicure over on all of my nails and repainted my toes as well. I'm pleased with the services rendered at Astoria Nails. read more

Terrible customer service. I was fine with the delay in my appt time. But when I arrived and sat for the pedicure, the water was barely warm. The nail tech did not do all that she could and didn't even check in with me to see if I was satisfied with her work on my feet. Not to mention, I booked a manicure, but was not offered slippers to walk over to the chair! It's almost laughable how stern I had to say "NO," I was not putting my feet on their dirty floor! the mani/pedi was mediocre at best. I do not recommend supporting this business. Find another spot. You'll be better off! read more

Found this nail salon through groupon. The price was very good and I decided to try it for the first time. The store is very clean. Staff is polite and even gave me a back massage at the end of the gel manicure. The only con is that the end of some of fingers were hurt to bleeding. Overall, very pleasant experience and I will probably come back. read more

Good nail salon. Not open everyday so double check Good gel Luxurious pedicure, but the actual toenails do not look that great after - polish wise. I would just be aware not to get too relaxed and ask for what you want. That's what i plan on doing. read more

If I could give this place points I would. I called to make an appointment for nostril waxing and the young woman who answered the phone said "Come now. we aren't busy at all." So, I told her that I was "On my way"! When I arrived there were two employees standing at her side. I told the person who took my call that I just called. keep in mind this is about 7 minutes after I got off the phone with her. She then asked one of the women standing next to her to do the waxing. But the woman was not familiar with how to do the process. One of the employees giving a manicure to someone said she would be free and I reluctantly stayed. 20 minutes go by and I turn my chair to ask if it were going to be much longer. She began speaking before I could ask and said "sorry. we can't seem to find the wax. do you want to come back in 20 minutes while I go pick up some wax"? I declined and walked out. As I was vacating I informed her that I was going to leave a review on yelp. She just laughed as though wasting someone else time was somehow funny. read more

Came here only because it was an emergency. The "tech" took about an hour to remove the existing powder I had on my nails! Never in my life has it taken that long before!! She applied the new powder on way too thickly and it looks absolutely terrible. The white color I chose is already yellowing. To top it off, they charged $50 for this mess!! never again read more

This salon is more like a spa. You're greeted by your first name with a warm welcome. After every service you receive a complimentary massage. Punam & Prakash, the owners, take the time to meet every customers needs personally. Their staff is trained in the same manner. I've never had a bad experience here & I've been coming here for years. I travel all the way from Long Island because I've never had such level of service and care- so the commute is worth it. I called in advance asking if they had availability for a full set and a pedicure, the lady who answered said yes so I got in the bus and came in. I got there and was told the technician that does a full set was not there. I decided to go ahead with the pedicure until the lady trimming my toe nails cut 2 of my toes with the clipper. She clipped my toenails and then placed my feet in cold water. It was then that I decided I no longer trusted her and had her stop. The prices advertised are super cheap, but I would rather not be lied to and injured. read more

So bad that I have to leave a comment. I went for a gel removal and how can any nail salon did such a bad job even for removing gel. Didn't even trim my nail even. I had to do it myself. read more

I came in very early. I asked how long of a wait she said 20 min. I live around the corner. I came back in 20 min. She had a young woman do my manicure first. The young women did a great job but she could complete the gel tip set so I had to wait for the women to be done with her client. That's more than a 20 min wait. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she did a horrible job and this is only the day after and it's already chipping. This was a waste of $84. Greedy business. Clearly did not value my time. read more

A solid nail place in Astoria. Clean. Great prices ( $8 for mani, $15 pedi, $4 color change) and they do a good job. My mani lasted for 6 days from here!! I think it's a combination between the nail techs and those special dryers. I'm not crazy about the decor, and there are no massages after your nails are done, but if you need a quick nail color change, or straight forward mani, this is your place. read more

This husband and wife team us outstanding! They run such an incredible business. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by your first name and with a big smile. The actual treatments are world class. I get a pedicure, gel manicure and 30 minute massage every time I go and I've never once been disappointed. I am so happy to have funny found a nail place where I don't feel my manicurist is talking about me or yelling at me for a tip! Let me start by saying that this place is so clean and all the employees are extremely polite!! I got tips and this was the first time I said I wanted the coffin shape, without receiving an eye roll. Susan took her time to make sure I was happy with how it looked. I am blown away at how professional everyone was, no surprises. When we were almost done, I had to leave quickly and Susan gave me a free quick dry and told me if anything happened to my nails to come back which was so sweet of her! I really wanted to like this place. It's very close to my house and the staff is very nice, but I leave here disappointed every time (I've gone 5 times.) The gel peels off less than two weeks after application. The regular manicure smudges within hours because of the thickness and status of the nail polish. read more

Hadn't been to Astoria Nails for over a year so I was due for a visit. Unfortunately, I will not be back despite its convenient location. Walked into an empty salon with the nail techs giving each other pedicures. Asked for silk wraps and a gel manicure. After taking their sweet time deciding who would do it, Doma,Toma whatever her name was, decided I didn't need a full set of wraps, couldn't get any of the techs to find the dip powder, then proceeded to sprinkle powder on my nails and shape them herself. Well at the end of it, I had slanted nails with dents in them. The only saving grace was the polish I brought in. It was glitter and hid all of the imperfections. To add insult to injury, all of the wraps and gel came off a week later. Luckily I found a better place on Crescent and Ditmars. Three weeks into the manicure and not a chip, lift, dent, crease, or bubble to be found. Buh bye Astoria Nails. read more

Just moved to the neighborhood and thought I would try this place in the area. Walked in around 6:30pm and was told that someone would be with me in a few minutes. Waited an hour. Asked for a gel manicure- as soon as they turned on the UV lights, both of my hands, wrists and arms were covered in these small bugs that looked like flying ants. Not one or two flies- more like 10-20 flies! They were all over the store and swarming the lights. One got stuck to my still wet nails. The staff apologized but didn't do much to address the issue (just picked the bug off my nail with some tweezers and kept going). I asked that they just hurry and finish as quickly as possible- I just wanted to get out of there. And after all that, they still charged me full price for the manicure. Still itching all over from "phantom" flies. Will NEVER go back there for any reason!!! read more

I've stopped in for a mani-pedi a few time since moving to the neighborhood. It's within walking distance of Astoria Park. The staff is friendly and the space is clean and cozy. I have been going to Astoria Nails for seven years. They have always treated me with respect and provided an incredible service. Their team is hardworking and always ensures that the job is done well and in a timely manner. I usually get a gel manicure (which lasts about 3.5 weeks btw with few chips), a pedicure and a 30 minute massage. I've worked with different technicians and everyone is incredibly talented at what they do. It's a really nice experience and a great way to unwind and freshen up your nails. I came here twice, one time last summer, and 2 weeks ago and the experience I had was day and night... Last year I ended up coming in without appointment and I left with the worst gel manicure I ever had!! It was all bumpy and it started breaking on the same day. But 2 weeks ago I decided to give it another try only because it is so close from my place. I called for an appointment and when I showed up, no one was ready to take care of me. Bad start. I let them know I'll be back in 30 to start mani-pedi and when I came back, I was taken care of ALMOST right away. The lady who did my pedicure was lovely as well as the owner, who did my nails. I kept it all for 2 whole weeks, I'm glad I gave it a second try. read more
