Terrible customer service. I was fine with the delay in my appt time. But when I arrived and sat for the pedicure, the water was barely warm. The nail tech did not do all that she could and didn't even check in with me to see if I was satisfied with her work on my feet. Not to mention, I booked a manicure, but was not offered slippers to walk over to the chair! It's almost laughable how stern I had to say "NO," I was not putting my feet on their dirty floor! the mani/pedi was mediocre at best. I do not recommend supporting this business. Find another spot. How did I end up at Astoria Nails? I purchased a great Groupon deal for two gel manicures. I don't get my nails done regularly as I have in the past but decided to make a decision to indulge in self-care for myself. My initial visit was cool and at that time I decided to purchase a pedicure which was great. However, I noticed the next day that my gel manicure had begun to chip and I was upset because as each day passed, it chipped even more. I didn't want to write a negative review without giving them an opportunity to fix the situation. I called and explain what happened and I was told to come in to rectify the problem. Found this nail salon through groupon. The price was very good and I decided to try it for the first time. The store is very clean. Staff is polite and even gave me a back massage at the end of the gel manicure. The only con is that the end of some of fingers were hurt to bleeding. Overall, very pleasant experience and I will probably come back. read more

If I could give this place points I would. I called to make an appointment for nostril waxing and the young woman who answered the phone said "Come now. we aren't busy at all." So, I told her that I was "On my way"! When I arrived there were two employees standing at her side. I told the person who took my call that I just called. keep in mind this is about 7 minutes after I got off the phone with her. She then asked one of the women standing next to her to do the waxing. But the woman was not familiar with how to do the process. One of the employees giving a manicure to someone said she would be free and I reluctantly stayed. 20 minutes go by and I turn my chair to ask if it were going to be much longer. She began speaking before I could ask and said "sorry. we can't seem to find the wax. do you want to come back in 20 minutes while I go pick up some wax"? I declined and walked out. As I was vacating I informed her that I was going to leave a review on yelp. She just laughed as though wasting someone else time was somehow funny. read more

Came here only because it was an emergency. The "tech" took about an hour to remove the existing powder I had on my nails! Never in my life has it taken that long before!! I got there and was told the technician that does a full set was not there. I decided to go ahead with the pedicure until the lady trimming my toe nails cut 2 of my toes with the clipper. She clipped my toenails and then placed my feet in cold water. It was then that I decided I no longer trusted her and had her stop. The young women did a great job but she could complete the gel tip set so I had to wait for the women to be done with her client. That's more than a 20 min wait. Let me start by saying that this place is so clean and all the employees are extremely polite!! I got tips and this was the first time I said I wanted the coffin shape, without receiving an eye roll. Susan took her time to make sure I was happy with how it looked. I am blown away at how professional everyone was, no surprises. Hadn't been to Astoria Nails for over a year so I was due for a visit. Unfortunately, I will not be back despite its convenient location. Walked into an empty salon with the nail techs giving each other pedicures. Asked for silk wraps and a gel manicure. After taking their sweet time deciding who would do it, Doma,Toma whatever her name was, decided I didn't need a full set of wraps, couldn't get any of the techs to find the dip powder, then proceeded to sprinkle powder on my nails and shape them herself. Well at the end of it, I had slanted nails with dents in them. The only saving grace was the polish I brought in. It was glitter and hid all of the imperfections. To add insult to injury, all of the wraps and gel came off a week later. Luckily I found a better place on Crescent and Ditmars. Three weeks into the manicure and not a chip, lift, dent, crease, or bubble to be found. Buh bye Astoria Nails. read more

Their team is hardworking and always ensures that the job is done well and in a timely manner. I usually get a gel manicure (which lasts about 3.5 weeks btw with few chips), a pedicure and a 30 minute massage. Just moved to the neighborhood and thought I would try this place in the area. Walked in around 6:30pm and was told that someone would be with me in a few minutes. Waited an hour. Asked for a gel manicure- as soon as they turned on the UV lights, both of my hands, wrists and arms were covered in these small bugs that looked like flying ants. Not one or two flies- more like 10-20 flies! They were all over the store and swarming the lights. One got stuck to my still wet nails. The staff apologized but didn't do much to address the issue (just picked the bug off my nail with some tweezers and kept going). I asked that they just hurry and finish as quickly as possible- I just wanted to get out of there. And after all that, they still charged me full price for the manicure. I don't know even know where to begin with how bad they messed my nails up and how much of a waste it was smh 45 dollars down the drain.. 1. This lady completely disregarded the shape of my nails and did her own thing.. I have a couple of fingers where their opposite nail is either shorter or longer than the other I have a nail that's leaning to the right smh and to top it off I got gel nail polish and there were nothing but bubbles and it's chipping on all fingers and this is the 3rd day.
