Goonies house did not disappoint! We were excited and thrilled that we got up early and made it to the house before a bunch of people were around and as not to bother the homeowner. Be respectful get your photo and move along and the mystery neighbor that gets after people won't even bother you.

The Goonies House! (Astoria, OR)

I thought it was cool to see this home! The movie is a classic and I've read quite a few reviews about how the owner/s are mean or angry. I found the opposite. There was plenty of parking on the streets nearby. A short walk up the driveway and you'll come to a fence with a great view of the house and of Astoria. The owner was outside doing yard work and said hi to us. If you're a fan of the movie, come take a quick look.

The house must have changed hands within the last few months based on our visit today. 1. The signs at the bottom of the driveway near the mailboxes about trespassing and calling the police are gone. The only sign next to the mailboxes says "YES." 2. We exchanged pleasantries with both the owner (or whoever was in the house at the time) and a neighbor to the right (if you're looking at the house). Both women gave big smiles and said hi. 3. The house was in great shape. I assume the tarps mentioned by other visitors were for renovations by the new owner. We left $20 in the donation box and parked in the boat launch lot next to the Comfort Suites. Don't park or pull over in the neighborhood nearby the house. Parking at the boat launch is $10 for the day and we left our parking ticket in the machine for the next person. Good spot to access the Riverwalk too. You can park for free at Safeway, which is a little further from the house. Being respectful of the neighbors and neighborhood will ensure future visitors are able to enjoy access too.

We parked at Safeway and walked up to view the house. We fully planned on viewing from afar as to respect the fact that this is someone's home. Just because it was a part of a film doesn't mean it isn't private property now :) We arrived at the driveway and there were two signs that said walk up only and yes with foot prints! We walked up to the house and took photos. We were greeted by the home owner and had a nice chat with her about her purchase and remodel of the home (hence the tarps in previous reviews). She was very sweet about our visit and asked us about our plans for the day! I feel if you come during daylight, walk from a public parking area and act respectfully you will have no issues There is a donation box in front of the home to contribute to the remodel expenses of a home that was once a foreclosure :) donate for the preservation of the goonies home!

You can walk up, as there isn't any access beyond that. There is a donation box to help out. I'm unsure the access will be available forever but a good bucket list item to cross off the list.

As of 2022 the owners are nice enough to let people take pictures of their home and take donations to keep up with restoration of the house. It looks really beautiful with all of the flowers they have planted

This was almost too surreal to see- I watched this movie as a kid and was completely captivated by it- so I ran off to Astoria on a whim recently and I wasn't disappointed. PARK BY THE SCHOOL on the side street -its also known as the Kindergarden Cop filming area- or they will ticket you in that town- you'll be a few blocks from the goonies house at this point. Walk politely your in a residential area the people are nice and sweet and kind some a bit eccenrtric and a blast like the lawn art lady I passed- when you get to the Goodies house area - BE QUIET walk up quietly- if there is a sign that says no- dont do it. It's private property. If it says yes- do it. Make sure you leave the home owner a tip there is a box outside- he doesn't have to let people on her property but she does and she's fantastic for doing so! It's amaze balls. The whole town is amazing. I love it!

Thumbs up!

Contrary to popular opinion, the owners of this house are NOT A-holes, and I can say this first hand. In fact, they are actually quite nice. The consensus of most people is "if they didn't want people coming by to look at it, they shouldn't have bought it." What people don't know is that 1,000 plus people per day weren't going by to look at it when they bought it back in the early 2000's. A few jerks had to ruin it for everyone by being rude and leaving cigarette butts and other trash around the house and loitering around. I've seen some other people posting (on other sites than Yelp) that they should turn it into a museum. It's not that simple - what about the neighbors? You can't put a museum in the middle of a neighborhood - where would everyone park? I agree that this is somewhat of an iconic house. Be respectful and view the house from Duane street. Adios amigos.

I don't know how you give this less than 5 stars. The people are gracious enough to let people come up to their drive and take pictures. It was great. Left a donation. Then went to the museum.

This was so cool to see in person. The only thing I regret is not doing the truffle shuffle in front of the fence where chunks did.

Goonie house on thanksgiving morning 2018. It's a shame that someone has to live in the dark instead of showing this beautiful house.

Listen I kind of understand why the homeowner doesn't want any visitors but come on you bought the Goonie house and expect people not to be curious themselves. I'm a Goonie and this adventure is not complete without seeing the house. My daughter and I walked to the house the morning of thanksgiving 2018. We stayed Hampton Inn and had no idea it was across the street. It was quiet morning bit of rain. We saw the sign to not enter but since the street was still part of public street I walked up and took some pictures. Sad that the house was tarped. No one was around except for a neighbor talking on the phone on the porch but no one said anything. It was still great to see it and admire the view. On another note I really enjoyed the city where Mikey's dad worked and the jailhouse. A MUST to take drive to Cannon Beach and the view of Haystack Rock from Ecola State Park. Don't let the house disappoint as the town is charming to explore. Overall all I had a great and memorable experience and got to share it with my oldest daughter. Goonies Never Say Die

Park a couple of blocks down. Do not park close to the house. Nice walk up to the drive. Out of respect please know that the owners at this time do not mind the visits. It would be nice if people came around 9 am and stopped at 5 pm to give the owners privacy. We we were able to walk up and get some photos and take a good look at one of my favorite movies spots. I didn't see the owners but I did wave and said out loud, Thank You. What a wonderful day to hit the jail and the museum from the movie too. *on a side note, the elementary school down the street is where they filmed Kindergarten Cop!

**** The Goonies!**** The Goonies is not just a movie but an institution. The Goonies embodies childhood, real friendships, adventue, and embracing changes in life. There are few movie structures that are universally recognized, but The Goonies house is one of them. The house got so dilapidated that it was going to be demolished at one time. The new owners restored the home. Some changes were made and there are two giant flags displayed in the front. However, nostalgia set in as I walked in front of it. It was like I was in the movie or that the movie was real life. In fact, as far as I am concerned...The Goonies is real life. Parking is down the street and is easy. The neighborhood is used to the steady stream of visitors from around the world that show up on the daily basis. The neighborhood makes this visit fun! Step into reality and visit this internationally recognized destination. Goonies Never Say Die and any adventure, like my own, should start here! We are all Goonies at heart. Recognizing this is the first step in reaching happiness! I love this town and I love this house!

When I visited the Goonies house in 2008 or so there were no signs and no flags to incite anger from super-patriots.

One of the better preserved old forts on the west coast. You can explore the fort's various…read morebatteries and buildings (not all are open to the public), as well as walk along scenic trails. Be wary of disc golfers though! Nice visitor center with a lot of historical information.

Fort Stevens is the campground for people adverse to "roughing it". There are seemingly more RV…read moresites than "traditional" tent camping ones, complete with electrical and plumbing hookups. Not to mention rentable yurts and cabins, (hot!) showers, (relatively) clean restroom facilities, and even a firewood delivery service, right to your campsite! Fort Stevens is also massive: miles of hikeable/bikeable trails, sandy beaches, a lake with a boat ramp, a shipwreck, a disc golf course, a military history museum (and gift shop), and several abandoned military installations and batteries to hike and explore. There's more to see and do here than can be experienced in a single camping trip, and after more than a half dozen visits to the park, I'm still discovering new secrets! Also, keep an eye on the various post boards around the park, in which special events, such as storybook readings, put on by the Friends of Fort Stevens, occur on many a summer night. As I mentioned earlier, this is camping only in the loosest sense of the word, in that you're sleeping outside (well, if you're not in an RV, yurt or cabin). The campsites are relatively small, and close together, but that is also part of the charm, particularly for children: they're all but guaranteed to make some new friends during your stay here, as there will be rugrats running around, skating, riding bikes, exploring, and likely yelling and screaming all around you, for as long as the daylight persists. Intimacy and privacy does not exist here. There are better places to camp in the Pacific Northwest, particularly for those who desire privacy, serenity, an escape from noise and the presence of others, and a place to commune with and be surrounded by nature (and nature only). Those places exist, but Fort Stevens is not one of them. Despite all that, I have a sentimental attachment to this place, thanks to childhood memories of camping here in my youth. Now, I'm hoping to impart similar memories on my children. Fort Stevens may not be *for* everyone, but it *has something* for everyone. If you can't see that, go get lost in the woods elsewhere.
