This gallery in Cannon Beach has some really beautiful things. There's a variety of mediums here, and you'll find lots of glass and paintings in particular. I saw some glass jelly fish hanging decorations that were really nice but I was afraid it would be too delicate to make it back in my luggage. They also had some encaustic works, which is a medium I really like. These were by an artist named Jennifer Wilson, and were mixed media because they included seashells and sea glass that were embedded in the wax. They were really evocative of the coast to me, and again if I thought I could get it back I probably would have bought one. The artwork here cries in price, from more affordable ($55 for the glass blown octopus, and there may have been less expensive stuff here) to paintings or sculpture that are in the thousands. This iconic artist gallery has been a part of the Cannon Beach experience for more than two decades. Founded by two women with a keen sense of wanting to support and build community for creative in the area. I learned this history from Lotte who was managing customer service the day I wandered in. I was just going to view some of the incredible paintings -- photos are understandably not permitted out of respect for the artists -- I was seeing from the outside. I was warmly welcomed and invited to browse without any pressure. They were beautifully potted plants throughout the gallery and I was told one of the owners has a green thumb. Eye-catching wall Pieces ranged from very large to tiny, but I wound up being drawn to the hand made jewelry collection. What caught my eye was a beautiful amethyst still at tight cluster, in a lavender hue with purple flames inside the tips. I had never seen anything like it. The piece was extremely well held in a silver structure and the chain was both beautiful and sturdy. My issue was that it was a 17 inch chain and I was looking for a 21 inch chain. Lotte was excellent at troubleshooting and simply called the artist who picked up. They spoke and then I was invited to have a brief conversation with the Artist, Anne Anderson, and we arranged for a time when I would be able to swap out the chains. It was a really wonderful experience of Customer Service that went above and beyond. Clearly the gallery had an excellent relationship with the artist which is always telling. The piece was understandably priced at $210 for the labor intensive setting, as well as the excellent quality of crystal used. This was my first purchase from the gallery in recent memory, but it stands out in my small collection as one of the most beautiful pieces. read more

Love this vibrant, eclectic gallery on the south end of of town! The colorful, whimsical, yard art out front caught my attention and had me at Hello! Inside, there is even more awesomeness everywhere you turn! Not your standard gallery, the walls are painted in deep colors - burgundy, lime green, yellow, purple, orange - with colorful paintings, sculptures, glasswork and jewelry at every turn. Make your way through each section slowly, then turn and go the other direction. Something new will catch your attention! DragonFire has thoughtfully curated a collection from many local and National artists who express their creativity through a variety of mediums. The art and pieces here are truly unique! I'm always interested in jewelry and their collection had many beautiful pieces at affordable prices. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and never, ever pushy. They welcome you in to browse and enjoy at your leisur, offering assistance if needed or leave you on your own if that is your choice. Located on S. My fiancée and I love the DragonFire Gallery! This is our go to gallery when visiting the beach house in Cannon Beach. We have purchased several pieces of art here over the past few years. We have acquired a few lovely paintings, a gorgeous lamp, a couple of clocks, as well as a few blown glass garden sculptures. We are impressed with the quality of art work displayed in this lovely gallery. The presentation of art work is always top notch. The helpfulness, professionalism, and friendliness of staff is very much appreciated. We were at this gallery yesterday, and purchased a lovely painting. Staff member, Mary Beth, was a joy to work with. She was very helpful and patient in assisting us. She displayed and showed us several.paintings from one of our favorite local artists, and did so in proper lighting. Our newly purchased painting was very carefully packaged for our travels back home. We highly recommend DragonFire Gallery to our family & friends! A local stop not to be missed! Nice selection of art in a small town. It's nice to see what the local area has to offer in terms of artists. They seem to have scaled down their offering of blown glass lamps which I always appreciate, so it's a bit sad to see fewer and fewer of these on hand since the Oregon coast seems to be known for them. Wow. What an AWESOME place. I couldn't take pictures because I was focusing on the stuff. Everywhere you look, there's something cool. The range in artists and their styles just awesome. It was very colorful and whimsical and fun. Nothing like any other gallery I've seen before. Even the outlets were decorated. If I win the lottery, this is going to be one of my first stops. Walked in at 10:10 and was immediately told by the employee on duty that they weren't open, asked me to leave. (Posted hours indicated they open at 10 and the "Open" sign was up in the window.) Have shopped here before and enjoyed the store, but the employee's attitude was a turn off. I love Cannon Beach, but many of the shop owners aren't the best with customer service. read more

While there are many opportunities in Cannon Beach to "See Sally Sell Seashell by the Seashore" there comes a point when I've gotta get away from the glass floaters, muscles, and ships in bottles and pursue commercial avenues that are a little more contemporary. In this town, DragonFire is that place. It's a gallery of affordable yet oh so awesome fine art comprised of vibrant colors and unusual ideas. Small pieces and jewelry are intertwined with huge in-your-face works that you'd swear you'd seen in the latest moma acquisition publication. There's a small café attached with beers, wines, and coffee to pair with fresh baked bread and other sweets. Friendly, warm, simply just cool. read more

Cool pace. I liked a lot of the art. Of course there was some I wasn't to keen on. I wish I could remember the artist that was there. He did really amazing pictures of waves. I mean these were awesome. The guy gets into a wet suit, with his camera, Gets into the wave and take some incredible pictures from inside the wave. Just awesome. He's on display until Sept of 2012. I love this place! A Cannon Beach icon for local artists. The people who run this place are the best! Helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. I bought a Scherer clock to take back to San Jose with me, and they built a box out of cardboard so that it would not get crushed during my trip back. This is a must visit when in the area. read more

I adore this art gallery! The gallery houses artwork from approximately 100 or so artists, and it's so beautiful inside that the store itself seems like a piece of artwork. Any visit to Cannon Beach isn't complete without visiting this gallery. As soon as you walk into the store you're bombarded with colors and patterns and when you walk down the steps that are at the front of the gallery you're transported into a world full of visual wonders, as corny as that sounds. :) I've spent a good hour or two at least in DragonFire before, and on my last trip I bought a gorgeous plaque that my partner and I settled on out of everything in there (believe me, it was hard to look at so many amazing works of art and not give them ALL a home) and we hung it somewhere where we can look at it regularly. It's a wonderful reminder that Cannon Beach isn't just full of touristy boutiques carrying rhinestone studded...everything...and miniature name license plates. There is one thing I do miss though...there used to be a tea shop in the gallery. Now THAT was a little slice of heaven. read more
