I had a great experience here! The staff was super friendly and caring!! The chicken and rice was so well flavored and came with some yummy grilled veggies! Super chill place, perfect for a casual lunch and doing some work on my laptop!

Wow! This food is fresh. I was ready for lunch but so tired of fried, wraps or sandwiches. There's Astor right in the corner. Big enough to bring friends and so clean. I was warmly greeted and surprised at the number of vegetarian offerings and Mediterranean standards like swarma. I picked lamb and added a rice pudding for a treat. The lamb was so fresh and tender. Vegetables and rice were fresh and flavorful. Oh! The rice pudding was creamy and flavorful what a nice finish. But wait. They also carry Divont chocolates and date desserts. Those chocolates are heaven. Take a break and discover Astor, you'll be glad you did.

Chicken shawarma sandwich, my bad for the pic, I got too excited. The salad on top is hiding the chicken, hummus, and garlic sauce.

They're back! New owners, new menu, new everything I guess, but finally Astor is open. Stopped in on day 1 after seeing the OPEN sign lit up in the window, first to actually confirm and later to get takeout. The folks there were really nice, the restaurant is really attractive and clean, and it feels a bit like it was back when old Astor was good. The menu still seems to be a work in progress, and they are working out glitches in their online ordering, but the food is solid! Got chicken shawarma sandwich, beef shawarma sandwich, kofta sandwich, and a cheesesteak, and everyone raved. Their hummus was really good, their baba ganoush was incredible. Honestly, we were ready to cut them a lot of slack being brand new, but I'm really impressed. For those old timers who can remember Astor from two owners ago, this is much more like that quality-wise than the reboot that only lasted a year or two. You might need to be a bit patient while they figure things out, but it's worth it, at least so far. So great to have another option in Lyon Park. I'm definitely trying again, will post an update and better pics next time.

The service was AMAZING! The owner was very kind, told us all about his kitchen, and he shared free food (the date pastries are delicious, and lentil soup to warm a cold night). Besides the hospitality, the food was warm and delicious. There is plenty of indoor seating for large groups, the portions are HUGE (my shawarma platter is enough for 3 meals!), and it was priced very affordably. An added bonus: their rice pudding was fluffy and delicious.

Update - I'll give it 4 for the pizza. Crust is a little thicker but still chewy, the Greek pizza was pretty good with feta, gyro meat, pepperoncini and olives, tomatoes and garlic. Super garlicky. Tomatoes were great with the thicker crust. Super easy to order online and ready when you get there. Fries are also good for $2. Gyro is just ok, but only $6.50, quick and easy.

We showed up an hour and a half before the game started and got the last table in the entire bar. If you know this place, you know it is huge. I knew it was a good option for watching the game, but I didn't realize everybody else knew too . Since my last visit years ago, they have switched to QR code orders -- unless you are sitting at the bar I'm guessing. As I said, the place was absolutely full, but there was never a long wait time between ordering and receiving food and drinks. They had a fun 20 wing platter for $25.99 with some unique flavors representing different countries... USA (Buffalo Garlic), Spain (pollo asado), South Korea (SPICY), and Mexico (Creamy Cilantro)... I think I got those right, but wow what a feast! Yeah, I didn't take a pic, I'm sorry lol. The cheapest cocktails were $6, but others ranged from $8-12, so not bad at all. Everyone had a great time and I forgot how fun it is. But my special someone is a 5 minute walk away, so I ought to be returning more regularly :). Oh, the only thing was that we had to ask for water and it wasn't brought otherwise. It was a hot day, and there were 6 of us, so we needed a lot of water haha. But a simple ask and it was brought out quickly. In my opinion, they should do it automatically though!

I did not want to eat fried or super unhealthy food since it was late but this place looked like the best option. We decided to sit at the bar area right by the entrance since it was empty. It did not take long for the bartender to approach us and offered drinks. Hubs and I both ordered beers on tap, which were delivered not too long after we ordered. I was in the mood for wings and decided to go for the boneless option since hubs only likes those and I definitely was not going to finish. I also wanted a veggie option so I went with the veggie wrap. Hubs ordered the Tex-Mex eggrolls. Our food arrived at an appropriate time and was correct. The food was okay but not out of this world, which we were expecting. We both enjoyed the veggie wrap though. This place is a good option for watching sports and if they're open late. The place is also big in size.

Bright and open with an integrated coffee bar, the noise level is better than most. Table settings are beautiful with fresh flowers. The food, though, is outstanding. We were there for brunch on a Saturday. We shared the skillet cornbread and deviled eggs and agreed they were excellent, but the deviled eggs were top-notch. For entrees we had a brisket bennie, brisket hash, and fried chicken and biscuits. Everyone said their dish was the best dish. I had the fried chicken - just the right honey and heat, and the biscuits were fluffy, buttery heaven. We were stuffed but Jorge and Matt (one of the owners) dropped off a complimentary order of apple donuts with raspberry jam. I shouldn't be surprised but the chunks of real apple in the donuts - wow. I don't know how they serve food this good in a location this beautiful and such reasonable prices. I guarantee, though, we'll be back for dinner and be regular customers in the future.

I liked the modern industrial interior (exposed ceilings, cement floor), complete with bespoke woodpiles. Super cheerful service. BIG portions (with an extra side, each entree is a meal for two), everything hand-made, many nods to modern American cuisine such as the care they spend on sides and the well-crafted cocktails. Amazing how many things you can smoke. Now, drinks and food. Nothing liked a smoking whiskey cocktail, people sitting next to you will stare in envy (as well they should). Wife's grilled pineapple mojito was topped with such a large mint sprig, it was positively horticultural. Along with the complementary cornbread, a great start. My barbecue expert's half rack of St. Louis-style ribs was trimmed and plenty moist, with six BBQ sauces to choose from. Lots of pickle slices (cucumbers in any form are perfect with seasoned meat).
