CarMax failed to properly handle the title and registration. My husband is active-duty Air Force, and we completed a PCS in August 2026. Before the move, I was told by CarMax that my plates would be shipped to our new home in August in Dayton, Ohio. When we arrived, the plates still had not arrived. After many calls, repeated follow-ups, and involvement from CarMax Customer Relations, I eventually learned that CarMax could not register the vehicle and offered me a branded title. In SEPTEMBER 2026, CarMax found me a substitute vehicle. I spoke with USAA and was advised that I could substitute the vehicle on my existing loan rather than taking out an entirely new loan. I provided this information to CarMax in great detail. Instead, after CarMax bought my original vehicle back, they told me they could not provide the documentation needed. As a result of this situation, I have incurred additional costs and financial consequences, including paying for additional temporary tags after the original tags expired, made a $600 car payment and paying interest on a vehicle I wasn't able to keep, having my credit impacted by multiple loan inquiries within a short period, and received a higher interest rate on the new loan. Customer Relations is aware of the situation but has not contacted me regarding my concerns.
