Do not use this company. Consider this a "zero star review." This is the abbreviated story: We hired Assured Heating & Air (AH&A) for a new HVAC system in our bunkhouse in May 2017 for $7500. AH&A reviewed our building, recommended, & installed a mini-split system that ended up not being capable of heating the building in cold weather. After much back & forth, AH&A's remedy (2nd written proposal) was to install larger units for an additional $2500; they stated there was NO GUARANTEE the upgraded units would adequately heat the building. ‍ Along with the ridiculous 2nd proposal, they refused to do any work unless negative reviews re their company were removed. No deal. In the meantime, we found AH&A violated the initial proposal / contract we signed with them by not getting permits, and they did not follow TN state codes. We were issued a 30 Day Notice by the TN State Electrical Inspector to have power shut off due to their shabby work & code violations in the bunkhouse. We sued AH&A 6/18 and won - $7500+ additional costs. Because AH&A is a Corp, they were represented by a lawyer, we represented ourselves. AH&A appealed the decision & requested a jury trial. We filed a formal complaint with the State of TN licensing board against AH&A which is still pending. Update: Over the last few weeks, we offered to settle with AH&A for less money. We would like to get this over. However, no settlement can be reached because we refuse to sign a confidentiality agreement to not discuss the details of what AH&A has done. We think it is important that our community know how this company operates. We feel an ethical responsibility to let others know of the violations AH&A left in our building. Therefore factual updated reviews will continue to be posted. Believe it or not...a jury trial cannot be scheduled until Nov. 2019! ‍‍ We'll be ready. We have filed an amended motion to our original complaint from $7500 to $10,500; the cost of the having a new (and adequate) HVAC system installed in the bunkhouse. After all the time, effort, stress, cost, & misery we've put up with, why not? Between now & Nov 2019, I'll continue to update / post reviews. The technicians are gentlemen, they're nice, and they get the job done. Assured works FOR home warranty companies so although sometimes things may not go how you expect/want, always remember that it's because Assured has to go with whatever your home warranty company wants them to go with. During busy seasons (especially the summer), things do get a little busy and it may be hard to get scheduled, but they fit you in at their earliest possible convenience. They keep in constant communication with you letting you know when the technicians are on the way and how far out they are from your home so you're prepared for their arrival. Assured is the number one vendor for HWA statistically, and they're deserving of that honor. Great company, great technicians, and great work all around. I recommend them! Let me first say that my fiance and myself are rarely ones to complain, and very seldom do I feel it necessary to share my experience through reviews, but this has not been a good experience. Now-I want to be sure to explain that we were dealing with, I believe, the Pegram location of assured heating and air, owner's name is Tom. We just bought our first home three weeks ago and our AC unit has been acting up and not cooling as quickly as it should. Fortunately we purchased the home warranty and through Old Republic we set up a visit for our unit to be checked out. Assured Heating and Air was the company our home warranty chose, I dont know if because we were using a warranty, we got bad service or what the deal was, but im pretty sure the company gets paid regardless. An appointment was set for 8 am on a Wednesday morning. Tom, the owner, did not show up until 10:15, I was late for work and my fiance had to come home from work to meet with him because he was two hours late. Next, he talks us into getting a preventative maintenance plan (which I understand can be great if done correctly). Okay-nice enough guy, sounds like he knows what hes talking about, we purchase a one time visit to see if it helps our unit run efficiently. 2 1/2 weeks later, we FINALLY get an appointment set up for the "technician" to come out and perform the maintenance. I take off work early, come home for the appointment on a Thursday at 4 pm, his wife then calls to change the appointment time to 2:30, he never shows up, I call- they dont answer, at 4:15 Tom calls me and says he cannot make it due to rain and reschedules for Monday. My fiance calls him back to insist they come out on that Friday so we can get this taken care of-it has now been three weeks our unit is not running efficiently and we want this taken care of. Tom comes out to the house Friday at 3 pm. I have posted below description of what should be done with a preventative maintenance visit, and I can assure you that Tom did none of that. He showed up (without a hose and had to borrow ours) with some "acid" spray of which he told me was $250 a gallon and was the main thing we pay for in the maintenance plan. There was about a cup of this "acid" left in his sprayer-he sprayed our unit with what was left, then sprayed it with our hose, tested the pressure of our air with some gauge, and then left. No reciept, I didnt sign anything, and he did NOTHING that is typically done in a maintenance cleaning. I am highly upset and feel really ripped off. Unfortunately our home warranty decided on this company, but we will not be spending anymore of our own personal money with them. Check system functions, safety controls, and adjust the operating sequence where appropriate. Inspect electrical components and connections and repair/replace or tighten as required. Ensure proper airflow and change dirty air filters. Inspect pumps, lubricate, and check flow rates where appropriate. Clean and lubricate motors as required. Examine belts, adjust and align as required. Inspect, clean and balance blowers as required. Spring Visit (preparation for summer season): Clean inside coil, condensate pans, condensate traps, and condensate lines to prevent obstructions. Clean outside coil and straighten fins for efficient operation. Check refrigerant levels and if low, find the leak. (According to many equipment manufacturers, a 10% refrigerant loss will result in a 20% decrease in system efficiency!) If I could give zero stars I would. I am out thousands of dollars because of their work errors. They were assigned to me by a home warranty company. They did a poor install, caused a leak (twice), refuse to reimburse me (or my insurance company) for 3K in damage to my daughter's room. When things still weren't working, the home warranty company sent another person out, the new person would not even touch my home, because the things that had been done by Assured were dangerous & I needed to call codes. Thankfully, the new provider was able to show pictures to the warranty company. Apparently, Assured has been lying to the warranty company as well telling them that I was remodeling and that caused the leak. They were furious & hopefully know these people are criminals. I am a single mother who has had no AC and out no heat except for maybe two weeks for the last nine months. I am out thousands of dollars in damages, that I cannot afford to fix right now, my children cannot stay in my house. I wish someone had told me about this company. I am a member of a private Facebook group that shares horror stories about this company, I hope that they are out of business very soon. read more

Beware!! Terrible customer service. I put a request through my home warranty for a unit check. They did not schedule a time with me and then called me and said they were on the way. Since I do work I can't just go home whenever so I was not available. I tried to schedule a future time same afternoon or following day and they would not schedule anything. I was told they'd call me if something opened up. I explained if I have notice I can leave work to meet them but can't leave at the drop of the hat. They must have enough business because they obviously didn't want mine by refusing to schedule a time. My warranty company is awesome and they immediately hooked me up w a company who scheduled a time to come out at my convenience. As a first time customer this was not a good first impression. Their voice mail message and website all state they are open on Saturday. I left a message at 5:10 pm on Friday requesting them to call on Saturday. When I had not heard from them by 8:30, I called them. I got their answering machine again and requested them to call. Still nothing by 9:30am. I called again, and again left a message. At 10:30, I called again, still no answer but left yet another request for them to return my call. I also left an email requesting them to call. So, after 4 calls and an email, no returned calls. Can I give 0 stars! Came out because our AC has been out for almost a week. Tried to charge us $135 for lock valve caps, saying it was a new law in TN. It is for new construction only and they know it. My husband called an AC guy he knows and found out before I paid and the valve covers cost around $3 each. They said we were leaking freon and would need a new system and then they never filed the paperwork with the warranty company so we lost the $75 deductible and had to call someone else. Everything about this company is a sham and rip-off including the owners post about himself. He claims to be a native of Nashville but a quick search on the internet shows Thomas F. K. recently moved here from Wisconsin and had previously owned a heating and air business there. The business failed and based on our experience and the other reviews it is obvious why. Our a/c stopped working on July 19th. We were assigned Assured heating and cooling through our home warranty company. They came out July 21st and told us we needed a new compressor. Even though they had the part early am on July 24th Assured kept pushing the install date back. The home warranty company then informed us the the install was now pushed back until July 29th. My upstairs reached 99 degrees and my main floor reached 94 degrees. They informed us they not work weekends (except commercial accts--Saturdays 8-12) -even during extreme weather conditions. Buyer beware of this company. The office employees are rude and the young man that came to make the diagnosis was discourteous. They do not return calls and we had to call the home warranty company to get updates. Based on our experience so far, these reviews, and the reviews of Assured on BBB- we took the advice of another reviewer and went we Precision Air. We called Monday and they installed it the next day. Such an easy pleasant experience-Assured could learn a lesson. Precision Air has top notch customer service. Do not do business with Assured Heating and Air. They will waste your time and are unable to perform the service needed. We went two weeks without air before hiring a new company. See details and pictures below: 9/14: We noticed the air conditioning unit was not kicking on, so submitted a claim with our home warranty company. 9/15: Assured Heating & Air came to our home. Technician tried to replace the transformer but it blew out immediately. The technician ordered a new control board and transformer and would return when received to fix problem. The technician only looked at the unit in the attic - he did not look at the outside unit or perform any additional testing to determine what was causing the transformer to blow. 9/20: Assured Heating & Air install the new control board and transformer. Air is up and running. HOWEVER, the technician left the old transformer sitting in our attic without properly disposing of the item. Also, the safety switch was cut and bypassed and no fuse was installed on the transformer. Additionally, no observations were made to the outside unit. 9/22: AC unit goes out again. Same problem with no fan kicking on. Less than 48 hours after Assured Heating & Air "repaired". 9/25: Assured comes back out and looks at the outside unit, but not inside unit. We are told by technician that the unit needs to be clean. Technician recommends we do not pay $99 and hose it out ourselves. He gives us details on how to do this and tells us it will start right up. No mention of transformer blowing, or any other issues as he did not inspect the unit. Also note they were due to arrive between 11-3 and did not come until almost 5pm. Per the technician's advice, we hosed out the unit, let it dry, but it did not start out. 9/26: Was told by Kristin at Assured Heating and Air that they would not inspect the unit or move forward with any repairs until THEY performed the service. Gave verbal approval for Assured to perform the service. A fourth technician came out and started to perform the service/cleaning. This technician was unable to get to our unit in the attic due to his size, did not have a ladder, and stated he was afraid of heights. My fiance asked him to leave. Assured heating demanded payment even though service was not completed. They said they would hold a card on file and send a person out for the FIFTH time the next day. At that point, we severed ties with Assured Heating and Air and hired a reputable company as it had been almost two weeks with no resolution in sight. First, the new company told us that the units (inside and out) did not need to be cleaned as they were already clean. The new company quickly found the issue - a corroded wire on the outside unit that needed to be replaced. They quickly fixed this, replaced the transformer and rewired the transformer so that the safety switch was back on. When starting up the unit, it made a very loud clunking noise that had not existed before Assured Heating & Air came out. Upon further inspection, the new company discovered that the unit was overcharged with freon. The company extracted the freon that had be over-added, which totaled over 7 pounds. I am not sure the intent of Assured in overfilling the unit but it was either to overcharge the warranty company (by the pound), cause the unit to be destroyed so they could then replace it with a new one, or just sheer incompetence. Either way, it proves Assured Heating & Air is unethical and unprofessional. I truly hope that my efforts save others from working with Assured Heating and Air. Not even counting the almost 2 weeks without air and the time it took to meet them 4 times, this company has proven they are unwilling and unable to service an AC unit. read more

BE WARE! Assured Heating & Air was assigned to my case via HWA warranty service. Tech came out and indicated that my AC compressor was no longer operational and the cost for replacement would be $5000. Got a $50 second opinion and found out that my coils simply needed to be cleaned. After coils were cleaned, unit has run beautifully. I almost spent $5000 to replace a AC unit that did not need to be replaced!! Unacceptable and if I could give a zero here I would. Received this from former office staff on 4-3-19 about my situation: Subject: Assured Heating and Air "The owner's response to your review was false. The technician was not terminated due to not doing his job. The reason the technician quoted you for a new unit is because the owner - Tom - told him to do so. Tom does not like working for home warranty companies so he makes his office staff and his technicians try to upsell a maintenance agreement or a new system to each person we do business with. Notice your review was written July 2018 and the owner did not respond until December 2018. The technician actually quit - was not fired - and he quit because of the owner. The owner was mad at losing a technician, hence the reason for his response. And in the eyes of the owner - nothing is ever his fault. It is always the technicians or the office staff's fault. The owner is the reason the customers get treated like crap. I know, because I used to work there and I know how you were treated. I am so sorry if I was ever rude to you or if I ever made you uncomfortable via phone call by pressing the maintenance agreement issue. Yes, maintenance is important and yes, home warranty companies can and will deny repairs/replacements if failure is due to lack of maintenance. But Regardless, Tom shouldn't have forced the technician(s) to mistreat you or the office staff to mistreat you. I promise, the technicians that worked for Assured were all great guys. I could NOT agree more with the 1 star reviews listed on this site. Total sham AND ripoff. I called this company over the weekend of 7/11 as our air conditioner was broken. The only thing i can say positive about this experience was at least someone was there Monday first thing in the morning. BUT, the guy was less than knowledgeable about what needed to be done. I asked him AND called the front office people at this company "what's the turnaround on repairs"? The only feedback they gave was "we have to verify we get paid by the home warranty". I asked them could you just please fix it (i'll pay out of pocket if have to because my wife is pregnant) as it was 90 degrees in house. Nope, no can do. I waited the next day for what was supposedly a time frame on when they could repair it. Nothing, nada, zilch. And still NOTHING to this day. If you are a home warranty owner (which to me are useless in the first place), just spend the time finding a reputable outfit in town that can fix your a/c unit in a day or two. This is a chop shop that will come and collect your $75 and run. My advice is to use Precision Air, Inc. in Nashville. The guy made time for us SAME DAY and the fix took 45 minutes. Assured had to send out two different tech to determine the problem once the problem was identified, Assured failed to provide the analysis to home warranty company which caused me and my young family to live in hot unbearable conditions for an extended length of time. The first time I spoke with them their customer service left much to be desired. Eventually we set up an appoint for 5 day out. I returned Assured phone call today and Christiana tells me I have to remove the review I put on Yelp or Assured will not come out and service my unit and she has called the warranty company and told them this; but when I removed the review to call her and she will make sure I am the first one serviced on Monday! really. I said sure, I removed the review knowing I would write another one, than I call a competent HVAC company which by the way did a great job and was here in one hour and I have heat and cancelled my warranty Company. Beware- My home warranty uses this company, rather unluckily. Absolutely terrible customer service as they told me a time frame TWICE and then changed it on me. I was told on two occasions I was the first call of the day- and was obviously not because they didn't show up in the time frame given. I'm wary of the fact that my home warrant considered this a preferred vendor. I asked my home warranty to transfer the claim immediately. Did not refund me any of the $264 for just coming out and basically doing a tune up. Do NOT recommend unless you are extremely flexible with your time. If I could, I would give Assured a negative review. We scheduled an appointment through Assured Heating & Air because our home warranty through Home Warranty of America had them as one of their vendors. We did have to pay $60 for this, and I am extremely glad we didn't give them a penny more though I would've preferred to have given them nothing because they were pretty much useless. Our heat went out on a Saturday night, and apparently they don't have an emergency team so they didn't come to our house until Monday. Even then they were a few hours late. Within 5 minutes they said our circuit board was broken and that they would have to order us a new one, which would take days to receive and install. So they pretty much expected us to go without heat for a few days and offered no other alternatives. Luckily, we called another company on the same day who came out within the hour and was able to get our heat back on in 15 minutes. They found the problem right away (a blown fuse) and explained the whole process to us. When we told them what Assured had done, they were baffled. From what I can gather, Assured seems to have this deal through Home Warranty, which is like guaranteed business for them so they don't seem to care about their terrible customer service or even providing accurate information. They would have put us in the hole for $450 for something we didn't even need because they seem to lack any knowledge about their own jobs. We will never use them again and shame on Home Warranty for referring such a horrible company. read more

The experience with Assured Heating & Air was by far the worst I have ever had with any company. I was forced to use them through my home warranty group and have since filed several complaints. From Start to finish, it took Assured 7 months to finish repairing my air conditioning unit. When I was told that I would get a call back, I would get nothing until I would call back days after I was told I would receive an update. When I was told the repair would be made, they were 4 hours late to the appointment and did not come with the right parts. The owner just came to take pictures. It took several more weeks for the correct part to be ordered and another week for me to be scheduled in. I worked directly with the owner and could not have been more irritated by the terrible attitude and service. If you use Assured Heating and Air, the only thing that you can be "Assured" of is a very poor experience. read more

They "repaired" my A/C. Then when I called them back to fix the original problem since nothing they did helped they stood me up twice and didn't even call. Luckily I was working through a warranty company so I'm not out any money, just 3 days of lost work (1 for the original repair and 2 for the days they didn't show up or even call). Had these guys install a whole new system in my house under my home warranty. Water started pouring into my kitchen ceiling and I found out (from their tech) that they forgot to glue together a pipe in the attic to allow for the water to properly drain. They came back to glue the pipe (for "no charge," how generous - ha!), but refuse to help with the repairs for the problem that their shoddy work caused, claiming that they "never touched that unit." Please explain to me how you install a brand new HVAC without touching half of the system. Gave them an opportunity to do the right thing, but after speaking with the less than apologetic manager, I'll be sure to let everyone in the area know how they do business. read more

I have NEVER experienced worse service in my entire life. Left me and my family in the freezing cold without heat for over a week. Came out to the house 4 different times and told me it was 10 different things. Eventually stopped taking my calls. Then when I finally got through, threatened to BLOCK MY CALL!! Refused to address the fact that he was not doing his job and treated me like a child. Reporting them to the better business bureau right now. No one should get away with treating a customer like this. And I am sure the crazy owner Glenn will comment like he has on the loads of other poor reviews, but I think all of our experiences speak for themselves. Unprofessional - terrible service. I would give them zero starts but that was not an option with Yelp. I had them originally from my Home Warranty of America who had them as a vendor. My heat was not working. I called Nov 21st. It is now Dec 12th and they still haven't fixed the heat. They are extremely unprofessional - do not return calls - do not call and make appointments. I always have to call them and never get a specific time/day they will come. I've left messages for the owner to call and the receptionists tells me she gave him the message, but he has not called. They said they don't work after 3:30. They finally came out and said I needed to replace a circuit board which they would order. I didn't trust them that my other one was bad since the air conditioning worked fine. but they kept saying it was the circuit board and it would cost over $400. They took my old circuit board with them. I kept calling and calling to find out when they would replace it. In the mean time I had no heat and the air conditioner, which worked before their visit, no longer worked. They never called me. Then they said it takes a while to order the part. One person had said it was in . When I called the next day they said the part was not in. A week later, after I called them, they came out. The tech, Johnathan, was 40 minutes late. He stayed for 2 & one half hours. He could not install the control board properly. He even admitted to me he kept rereading the install instructions but could not make it work. Then He said he had never installed a "universal" control board. He left without fixing the heat. He then said it was a copper wire that was bad but he didn't have any with him. That was a Friday. It is now 5 days later and I keep calling them but still have no answers as to when they will fix it or whether the "copper wire" has been ordered. I again told the receptionist to tell the owner, Tom Kosinski, to call, but he has not. It was 3:00 and she said he was gone for the day. Heat still not fixed. I'm out over $400. read more

Very unhappy with my experience with assured heating and air. They are horrible on answering phone calls, we had a home warrenty where they came out and replace our unit as well as doing some modifacations. It took them over 2 weeks to get out to us in the freezing december weather making it barely 60 in our house, they finally got it put in things were ok our house was never fully warm like it should have been so it turns out they never properly did the modifacation to our duct work( this left all of our cold air in the summer out and also all of the heat out in the winter going under our house. they refuse to come out and fix it, something that would take them 20 minutes of their time but they refuse. so now we sit here with a small child in our home and the house is hot as hell!!! 0 stars for me, horrible service from a corrupt company. We paid a thousand dollars to these crooks for duct work and shielding modification to fit our new unit. The duct work was never installed properly and fell off. Now here we sit in a 80 degree plus house all summer with a baby. Service was only done 7 months ago and we have 2 free tune ups and a 1 year warranty on what they did and they are refusing to come out and fix what they have screwed up on. What a waste of my money. Terrible corrupt company, horrible people skills, beyond sadly poor service. A company that ((((DOES NOT))) stand by their work, does not deserve to stay in buisness, simple as that. Wow, I have just read almost all of the other reviews hoping that I was maybe wrong and this company deserved a second chance... NO WAY... unfortunately EVERYTHING that the others said is exactly what happens from them, I think that if you are a Home Warranty customer you are treated differently... at least lets hope that they don't treat everyone the same way. They sent out a person to check our upstairs unit, he looked quick, blew out a hose, said it was a maintenance issue, charged me $175. and left... never looked at anything else. Had to call someone else as I would not have these guys back, turns out we needed a new compressor... I called their office to ask what a maintenance check on a unit up stairs would be and they said $100. wow I should have gotten a whole check up on the unit, instead I got one hose blown out... I don't know how these guys stay in business ???? but I also do not understand how the home warranty companies even recommend them, they are useless. Our compressor is under warranty, but the cost to install it and the Freon that needs to be replaced is a large cost and we now have to hope the warranty company will help pay that... read more
