BUYER BEWARE (DO NOT USE FOR SPRAY FOAM)
Update:9/27/21
After perusing resolution by contacting Will Country, writing reviews, & talking with a lawyer. Assured Insulation Solutions finally agreed to refund us the $2500, we paid them. This was the same amount we had to pay another company, to come to our home and fix all Assured Insulation Solutions mistakes. The other company had to tear out multiple sections of foam, that were at an improper ratio. Then they had to re-foam the entire area, due to how many mistakes were made by Assured. Some areas had so little foam on the rim joists that you could scrape it down to the substrate with just a fingernail length. Now here we are, 5 months after their manager Tony, on 4/20/21 emailed us stating that they had finally agreed to pay us the $2500. Their agreement of course came with the stipulation that we remove all reviews an terminate all actions against them. Still haven't seen a dime and of course can almost never get a response from them about the agreement. Will continue to update if things ever change or we go further down the rabbit whole.
We hired Assured Insulation to spray foam the rim joist in our basement, add cellulose to mudroom, and air seal attic, remove old insulation and replace with new. We had to stop the attic project within an hour of the crew getting to our house, because they said it was not in the scope of work to remove old insulation. We were under the impression that is what we were quoted for. We called the project manager to have service added, but the price adjustment was too expensive for us. We asked if we can reschedule the attic project after we would take out the insulation ourselves to help lower the cost. They advised that they would call us back to reschedule the attic, and have the crew finish spraying the rim joist with foam and add insulation in the mudroom. When the crew was done we paid half of the total amount of the basement, mudroom, and attic project, before discounts under the impression that they would come back to finish the attic. We checked the work in the basement and there were many areas with incomplete coverage, areas that did not cure, and areas were the foam was pulling away from the substrate. We also checked the mudroom and a old baffle was completely covered, and a new one was filled with cellulose. We called the manager/owner who came out later that afternoon to say things were wrong with the basement & mudroom, and he would call us before EOD to schedule the crew to come back. He did not seem to care that they left the attic with insulation pulled up in multiple areas. We did not get a phone call that day, and had to call them the next afternoon. Explained how upset we were with the quality of work. Owner hung up on us, we called back and said we just want the basement and baffles fixed ASAP because they told us that they would not be back for 2 1/2 weeks. After a lot of chasing and back and forth, a crew came out that evening with a manager. They told us the baffles in the mudroom were ok and would not prevent air circulation and they resprayed the basement. We looked it over and everything seemed fine. We asked for an updated invoice with the work that was complete because we paid more than what was invoiced for the basement and mudroom. Manager said no problem. A few days later the foam was bubbling and dripping down our walls. Called Assured and they said it was fine. Decided to call 3 other companies to look, and all three said the wet dripping areas are hazardous and needed to come out ASAP. They also said the foam is not up to code on depth or ratio. Received remediation quotes from the 3 companies. We called Assured asking for the updated invoice and received an email back that they are not giving us any refund since they underbid the project and spent too much trying to fix it, and that it is best if we do not do business with one another. This is a rogue insulation company that you SHOULD NOT USE! Seems like DIY gone wrong. I question the fact if they are even certified to use spray foam. Workers were not wearing respirators, barely had windows open to ventilate, and did not bring heaters for the chemicals or the area they were spraying in winter weather. They also did not perform any quality control when the job was complete... no thermal guns or depth probe. The basement was inspected by 3 other reputable companies and all advised to have all the bad areas taken out immediately because of possible toxicity read more
