How serendipitous that this location had opened just a couple of weeks before my first trip to the town of Excelsior! Luckily, the family members who had accompanied me were patient enough to wait while I examined the goodies in this bright, clean space. While the store is relatively small, it is full of carefully-selected items that are sure to delight, from the table of lovely ceramics to the rack of fun aprons to the case of drool-worthy knives to the shelves of gizmos that you didn't know you needed. Excelsior is more than decor, antiques, and fashion, and this store is a great reason to male a trip.

The class pace is great for beginners and advanced chefs, and they have a great selection of classes. Note that they have you in groups of 6 - we ended up making new lifelong friends. I have also purchased croissant and danishes from the storefront and they're top tier.

I was greeted when I walked in and several staff members answered my question about the parking. Luckily I had been on the easy to navigate website beforehand, so I knew what I was after: knife storage and an apron. I located those and then allowed myself a little browsing. I think the sunny feeling was only partly sunshine through the windows; the lighting is very nice, and soon someone asked if I needed help finding anything. I also noticed the large cooking classroom. I got a croissant for the road in addition to my small purchase. I think this is my new favorite croissant in the Twin Cities! Up until now it had been Rose Bakery.

If you want a good value, I have been able to find seconds (discounted, slightly flawed pieces) of their cookware here in the past, but access is not consistent, and they told me they are a location for their popups, where you pay a set amount for a set of pieces. If you want to find discounts for a high quality product, this is the place to look. The staff have always been knowledgeable and helpful, the reviews here are not consistent and I would put that to the quality of reviewer, not the product or service. Le Creuset is the best cookware available and we are lucky to have an outlet. In the absence of it I would go to Cooks in St. Paul.

This store had everything from mixing bowls of all sizes to ramekins to baskets to crocks for french onion soup. Pretty much anything you'd need to operate a restaurant (or a really active home kitchen!). The place is pretty big and I wish I'd had more time to wander the aisles. She was baking for her Bunko group and wanted to make a type of dessert that you can handle with your fingers. She said she had gotten her pans at COSTCO, so naturally I went to look- they were sold out, and no wonder, Nordic Ware is fantastic quality. I did an online search and connected directly with Nordic Ware; I found exactly what I wanted plus more! Their Naturals line is a high end aluminum of professional quality and strength- I am a busy baker so this is just what I wanted. They also had the cooling racks and the durable lids for the pans! So, the cooling racks are oven safe- this is handy if you are cooking some bacon and want the grease to drip down into the pan as opposed to having the bacon swim in grease as it is cooking. The lids are so useful if you are taking some brownies or other goodies to some friends. The quarter sheet pans are also the perfect site to use as prep pans for deep frying foods- use one pan for flour dredging, the next for the egg wash and a third for your bread crumb coating- easy!!!! The length and depth of these pans is great for this type of prep. I am so thrilled with my purchase and it came beautifully packaged- the Nordic Ware logo tape across the box instantly put a smile in my face. When I opened the package, everything was wrapped In Nordic Ware logo paper. It was like unwrapping a gift to myself (yes it was ). Nothing works better at warming up a chilly house like baking something in the oven!
