I regret even giving them one star. I called the day before and they sent me to an office 40 minutes away. I spent 20 minutes on the phone , scheduling and giving my insurance information .. also filled it out on a portal. I arrive the next day check in and wait 40 minutes. A patient who came after me was taken in before me so I went up to the desk to ask about the wait time and she says. Oh I'm sorry I just found out we don't take your insurance!!!! This office is outstanding. From the front desk, to all the doctors, nurses, staff. I've been a patient for about 8 years and recently was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma. Dr Michaels did Moh's surgery (it was on my face). He is brilliant. The day following the surgery, my eye swelled, and I got my first 'shiner', lol. I went today to have the stitches removed, and there is a very small scar, which will fade, in time. As a 70 year old woman, I was concerned about how it would look, after the surgery. Dr Michaels is so skilled, you can barely see the scar, two weeks post surgery. I am blessed to have been taken care of at this office, since I first started going there. The staff at Aspire found a cancerous mark on the top, front of my head. Too much sun at some point in time. Dr Michaels removed it and put in quite a series of stitches. I looked like Herman Munster. After two weeks they removed them and it looks great! I highly recommend them. read more

While very professional and polite, their Pricing is HIGHWAY ROBBERY, and I feel taken advantage of. I was charged $233 for a 5 minute consultation with the Dr. I asked before the consult how much it would be, and I was never given a clear answer. I was told the initial consult would be free and pricing would be given at that time for any procedure necessary/done. I should have listened to my gut instinct. I never like to go anywhere that won't give you up front direct pricing... There's a reason they don't, because if you knew how much they charge ahead of time, you might think twice. In Conclusion, Shame on them for their Exhorbitant Pseudo-Extortion Pricing, but shame on me if I ever go there again. read more

I went to the Coventry office for some cosmetic treatment and was told it would cost $500. And a follow up in a month I was told this follow up was included in the 500 dollars. I went back and showed a couple of small area s that were missed However the NP " found more" and without saying it was another $500 proceeded. Ughh I paid it reluctantly and felt very taken advantage of. It was underhanded and unprofessional. I called to cancel my next follow up 22 hours before it and am now being charged another $ 25. I came in today, they have no issue with my insurance despite me not having wasted my Friday afternoon calling insurance companies like they asked. HOWEVER they are telling me they ordered labs for me that I was never instructed to go to. Labs were mentioned in passing to me but no labs were ever ordered to my knowledge. Today I come in and they're telling me I needed to do labs. I am very upset because I have had skin problems for a long time and my treatment is being delayed now because in the MONTH between my two appointments no one thought it would be worthwhile to tell me about the labs I needed done. They also saw me after the girl who came after me. My appointment was at 10:30, and judging by the time the other girl came in hers was at 10:45. I liked the doctor I saw the first time I was here but I don't think I'm ever going to see him again. The front office staff is not trained correctly, if you chose to go here know that you're going to have to find out yourself if you have any labs and hunt down the paperwork yourself. Please don't go to Aspire Dermatology. First impressions: Parking was incredibly limited and I had to wait for a space. The location isn't particularly convenient because it's right off of Wampanoag Trail which is essentially a miniature freeway. Turning back to go the way you came is a nightmare. The office itself is nice, but the wait was really long. The vibe of the place is very shallow. Being a supermodel appears to be a requirement for working here, which is off-putting for those of us who are there for non-cosmetic appointments. My visit: I saw Dr. Belden. She gave me about 5 minutes of her time, I started to explain my symptoms and she just immediately gave a diagnosis without examining me and prescribed me medication. I was denied a thorough examination because she just assumed she knew what was wrong. I firmly believe that doctors should hear you out and give you time to talk. If you disagree with their diagnosis you should be given a chance to say so. She was pretty condescending and talked to me like I was 5. I was incredibly uncomfortable the entire time. Anyway, I ended up returning for a follow up due to the fact that her medication didn't work because I was misdiagnosed. When I returned she didn't re-examine me, she just prescribed me a different medication and didn't explain why. She told me to return if that didn't work. When I went to see my primary care doctor later that month she saw my list of medications and asked me why I was taking them. When I explained my diagnosis from Dr. Belden, my primary care doctor immediately recommended me to a different dermatologist because she said the symptoms in my chart from Aspire were inaccurate and the diagnosis was clearly incorrect. She was adamant about me not spending anymore of my money there. Solution: I ended up booking an appointment at another, better rated office that my doctor recommended. I won't say where because I don't want this review to come off like I'm just trying to put down Aspire to send business there. The doctor at this new place was shocked that my issue went undiagnosed. He did a very thorough examination, got a full history from me and asked me if I was experiencing symptoms anywhere else. He took cultures as well. After a thorough examination he explained in detail why my condition has gone on for so long and why Dr. Belden's diagnosis couldn't have been correct and why her medication didn't work. The fact that another doctor diagnosed me in one 20 minute visit, educated me on what was happening, and made me feel incredibly comfortable highlighted how awful my experience at Aspire was. This place has gone down hill. Getting a live person to answer the phone to schedule an appointment is WAY too time consuming. I'm on hold forever or phone disconnects. Providers are scattered and appear that they haven't reviewed the notes or connected any dots from prior visits which is inefficient and concerning. Additionally the amount of repetitive bullshit paperwork (on paper! How is that HIPAA compliant?) they make you fill out is also unacceptable because of their "protocols." Receptionists lack basic patient-facing skills and are more focused on you filling in every box to every question to meet "their protocols." If I have a clean health history and I use "NA" to denote that next to a section outlining a bunch of issues I don't have, that should be an acceptable answer that a reasonably intelligent individual can comprehend. Finally, asking questions about the answers to the health questions on the bullshit paperwork in an open reception area with other people listening is ALSO unacceptable. That information is between me and my doctor, not you. Sensitivity, common sense, and HIPAA training are needed here. There are so many better options in the greater Boston area. read more

Dr Gary waterman screwed me over with his poor practice, he can barely see / assess certain conditions and kept asking me if things were the condition when he's the doctor, I'm not a doctor i don't know. He rushed me out the door almost every time and would miss w my cyro therapy n over burn certain spots leaving scars, because he missed with the cyro my skin condition has gotten worse and now I'm the one suffering ! Fuck him ! And the scheduling is done by a bunch of idiots too multiple times I've had wonky scheduling times on the reminder as like "2:49pm" then when I called to reschedule they could barely fit me in she was all frazzled then I think I missed the reschedule because I never got a reminder ! Had 2 moles removed from the back of my head and one from the side. First 2 were done by PA Falon and the larger one by Dr. Michaels. All appointments I showed up early for, got taken early and was actually out by the time my original appointment was scheduled. They get you in, and get you out. Which can be both a good and bad thing, as they don't waste your time, but if you're expecting extended conversations or time, its not happening. A painfully bad experience. Dr. Michael's was recommended to me by my primary care physician. The first and only time I saw him he spent a whopping 2 minutes with me before referring me to someone else in the practice. It took me 3 weeks to get a followup appointment. At no point did he explain that the procedure he recommended was not covered by insurance. Or that it was not a medical provider he was referring me to. 3 weeks later I finally came back for followup, to his aesthetician, who had zero idea who I was or why I was there. Surprising to me, given that Dr. Michaels referred me. I then learned that I was there for a consult, the second consult, and not the procedure itself. My time and money was wasted. 3 weeks and 2 consults later, and nothing to show for it. Had my options been explained at the first apt, and that I would need to pay out of pocket, I could have done my own research and had an appointment way earlier than 3 weeks with an aesthetician of my choosing. I walked out without making appointment number 3 for the procedure itself. I wrote a letter to his practice explaining that that quality of care that I received was less than acceptable. Not surprisingly, I never heard back. The simple recognition that communication was poor would have been all that I needed to not be traumatized as a patient. read more

You're probably not very good at my job either, but in a professional situation I wouldn't say that. Not sure if she was having a bad day but "bedside manner" was lacking; made me question if she likes people or her job. Maybe just not me only the 10 minutes of billable insurance. My husband and I both see Dr Michaels and were so blown away by our first experience that Ive recommended dozens of people. I love the whole clean, crisp presentation of all the healthcare assistants in the practice and the efficient, but very friendly manor in which I am "processed" each time I am seen. These days health care dictates to physicians how long they can spend with patients and I think this practice has found a way to maximize the results without compromising the level of quality care and service. The doctor himself sweeps in the room with a smile and a warm handshake and sits close to me as I explain any concerns. He has a rare ability to hold eye contact with you and make you feel as though you are the most important patient in his practice. All in all, its about the most pleasant experience one can have while being seen by a doctor! read more

I had a pretty awkward experience at this office and will not be going back. I met with Dr. Santos and I honestly felt like it may have been her first time seeing a patient (that is sort of a joke but it's how I felt). She did not discuss my past history (after I spent a lot of time filling out paperwork because we have skin cancer in my family). The appointment was on time and the staff were efficient and organized but the actual time spent in the exam room was barely ten mins. I have been seeing a dermatologist for decades now and have never had an experience like this before. It was physically awkward, as the doctor had me stand up and pull down my bra. I was happy to get a quick appointment in early 2021 for a spot on my nose that I was concerned about. The biopsy was done immediately and I was scheduled for a MOHS surgery. I never had this type of surgery and they did a very poor job preparing me for the aftermath. During my original appointment I questioned a spot on my chin and was told it would be addressed at 6 month appointment. When my 6 month appointment arrived I was told that the dime size spot under my chin was an ingrown hair. I was told they would give me some cream and everything would be fine. I was never given cream, but I wasn't comfortable with that diagnosis and went somewhere else for a second opinion. My new dermatologist told me it was definitely skin cancer and the biopsy confirmed I would need another MOHS surgery. I also had biopsies on 3 spots on my torso at Aspire. One of those spots never healed properly. My new dermatologist told me it should have had stitches after the biopsy. There were other issues at Aspire that upset me, but missing a large spot of skin cancer is unacceptable. read more

I saw Dr. Frankel for 6 months, she knew NOTHING about my skin issues, they gave me the wrong meds which was dangerous because it interfered with my blood pressure med. She should have been honest with me but she was not honest! They gave me a hard time getting my records. I dislike this office and Dr. Frankel, she needs to stick to cosmetics things because she knows nothing else. She never explained anything to me, she has NO compassion for people who are in pain!! So glad I am out of this office... Don't go there, if you have serious skin issues... My brother went there too, they kept freezing his wart on his finger for almost a year, it turned out to be cancer... Dr. Michael did this to my brother, thanks God for Brown Dermatologist, they helped my brother and me, very smart Drs. Very nice and they have compassion for their patients. By the way Dr. Frankel looks just like her Mom... I saw her Mom many years ago and she was honest with me, telling me she didn't know anything about my condition condition, at least she was honest, her daughter is not!!! I usually a yelp browser looking for the good places to eat. But I owe it to Dr. Michaels to leave a review. I absolutely love Dr. Michaels and the entire team. I was dealing with adult and hormonal acne for years. I went to see 2 dermatologists in the Providence/Cranston area and they didn't help my problem. One even started doing chem peels on me before my acne was even under control. The chem peels obviously didn't work, I would still get the tender and painful cystic acne on my cheeks and chin. I googled dermatologists around my workplace(Riverside) and found Aspire. The team at Aspire are so nice and knowledgeable. Dr. Michaels was great, really listened to me, and didn't rush me out of the office like the first two dermatologists. Now my skin is better than its ever been. If you are dealing with hormonal acne this is the doctor to see. read more

From the second I walked in the experience went downhill. The receptionist was so rude and didn't acknowledge me at all. Without looking at me she shoved a form at me and told me to wait. The Dr. I saw was slightly creepy and just kept saying things were fine. He looked at my skin for all of 3 minutes. The room was cold, no magazines, no decor and felt dingy overall. Dr. Michaels performed Mohs surgery my nose on 12/7/18. I was assured my nose would look the same after. I went back 4 days later because it was bleeding. The PA said it was fine. When I went to have the stitches removed it was still bleeding. Two days later it was still bleeding. Another PA said it was ok, keep it moisturized and bandaged when I went to bed. In these 3 return visits, I never saw Dr. Michaels. On 12/24/18, a chunk of scab came off with the bandage, leaving a hole in my nose. Apparently the stitches had let go right away. I know this can happen, but in 3 return visits nobody in the office noticed it. The office was closed for the holidays, so I contacted a plastic surgeon who agreed to fit me in 1/3/19. He said it was filling itself in and there was no skin to stitch and close it up. A skin graft would have to come from another part of my nose and would cause more scarring. He told me to come back in 6 months. The scar is darker than the rest of the skin. The skin around the scar is puckered. From the side, the tip of my nose is flat. Laser treatments might help even out the color. Injections would decrease the flatness, but are not permanent. People tell me it "doesn't look bad" which is true but I hadn't expected to have a nose that just doesn't look bad. read more

I had a less than stellar experience with Dr. Santos at the Barrington Office. The office staff were pleasant rather than friendly. My appointment was scheduled for 3:30 and I was seen at 4:15/4:20 for approximately 5 minutes. There was no acknowledgement of or apology for the delay. The consult itself consisted of the doctor interacting with her assistant and all but ignoring me. There was no interaction that indicated she had any knowledge much less interest in my history or condition. Suffice to say I will be looking for a new and more responsive practice. read more

I loved my experience with Dr. Michaels! He is such a great dermatologist. I have always struggled with Acne and at the age of 22 it's not exactly enjoyable. He has a lot of knowledge when it comes to treating Acne with medications. Also, Aspire has a great esthetician that has worked wonders on my skin with facials and chemical peels. I've never been to a doctor's office that was more efficient. My experience was more than satisfactory. I was able to get an initial appointment within a week. I didn't even have to wait to be seen- I've had 5 appointments total and was seen on time at each session. If you are going to Aspire for a skin mole check make sure before Dr. Michaels removes the mole you are aware this procedure is considered out-patient surgery. I came out of the examination room and expected to pay my $25 copayment and was charged not only copayment but my deductible for outpatient surgery. The customer service and health care at Aspire is truly refreshing. I have never been to a medical office with such an enthusiastic and informative staff. Dr. Michaels is friendly, positive and extremely talented at what he does. You can tell he truly cares about each and every one of his patients. They took care of all my insurance questions and everyone at the office seemed to have the same type of overall great experience that I did. Mind you I know I was early however my car was the only one in the parking lot and I was the only one in the waiting room the whole time! They were all talking and on their phones! I highly recommend this practice, I've seen two PA-C at both the new Johnston location and the riverside location. I can't say enough about how friendly and efficient both staff and doctors were. I never once felt rushed, they answered all my questions, and both times appointments were same day, which is unheard of for dermatology offices. I called Aspire Dermatology in Newport, at the beginning of May 2018, as a first-time patient. I requested assistance because of a small red region on my nose, possibly actinic keratosis. I asked to be examined by a physician. The RECEPTIONIST, over the phone, made the MEDICAL decision that my problem is not urgent, and granted me an appointment on July 18 2018. By July 1st 2018, redness covers most of my face. All I have to do is to hope and pray that the condition does not worsen before the appointment, and that the medical competence of the other medical personnel besides the receptionist is better than their business model. For fear of wasting lucrative physician time, the practice has no provision for timely examination of first-time patients. The business risk should be very little, since one cannot be first-time patient but once, and people are always lined up for cancellations. read more
