Rock the River concert series - The Early Mays

A relatively new community park with a lot to offer. A new fishing dock was donated with generous gifts from the Estate of William M. Cadwallade and the Hillman Foundation. There's a new free Summer concert series called Rock the River. Part of the fun is a nice kayak rental facility.hosted.by Kayak Pittsburgh. A new event space is available for rental, it's a rather large pavilion. Bathrooms are quite modern, a step up from what I see at most parks. Then there's some comfortable Adirondack with a gorgeous view of the Allegheny. Certainly something for those who would like to relax or also enjoy a more active life.

Nice little park hidden away in Aspinwall. Well, I don't know how well hidden it actually is now that there are brightly color signs so you at least can't miss where to turn on to River Avenue. But once you're back there, you'll forget all about the traffic zooming along Freeport Road. There are several free parking lots conveniently near the park. It's a smaller but lovely park. I'd recommend it as a good place for kids since there's a playground and some open areas to run around. There is a beautiful space that can be rented out for weddings. Kayak Pittsburgh even has a location here as well. I found a few lounge chairs as well as I wandered around. This would also be a good place to relax in the shade under a tree or along the river. There are a few walkways but it's not much for trails. However if/when this park is connected to the rest of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail I think it will be pretty amazing.

I was fortunate and privileged to grow up with Frick as my backyard and walked all over the place before graduating to riding mountain bikes on the trails when the sport was in its infancy. Later, I ran high school cross-country races in Schenley and trained in Frick Park. Nowadays, we enjoy the flowers, wildlife, and groomed and maintained trails. I never appreciated how unique, rare, and amazing the parks are until I moved away and it's so great to see them treated as the unique assets they truly are.

I keep coming back and exploring different paths, only to realize there's always more to discover. It's one of those places where you can return again and again and still find something new, which makes it feel really special to me. The way the trails connect is one of my favorite things. Nine Mile Run flows into Deer Creek, which then connects into Tranquil Trail, creating an easy, continuous experience through the park. And thats just one corner of the park. While bathrooms are not abundant, you will occasionally find a porta potty, and there is often trash cans and benches toward the entrances and parking lots of the trail as well. Overall it's just a wonderful place to spend a sunny afternoon, and I really hope spaces like this continue to be preserved as an important part of Pittsburgh's identity and history.

Absolutely incredible…read more I don't go to botanical gardens much so I don't really have qualifications to compare or rate any particular place but Phipps blew me away. I like plants. I have some. I thought seeing a bunch of plants might be fun but I wasn't expecting it to be such a wonderful experience! The place is quite large considering most of it is inside. It is organized for a few different environments and a little something for everyone depending on what your floral preferences might be. It took us about an hour and a half to go through the whole thing. Got a lot of pictures. Saw a lot of interesting and cool plants as well as beautiful flowers. Highly recommend this as a stop on any and every Pittsburgh trip.

The vessel was a lovely shade of green and had some weight. Simple instructions for those of us who were not-crafty. While our candles were solidifying, we were able to go see the Spring show. Lovely evening. Definitely would do again.
