Been coming to Aspen Medical Care since I was a kid. My experience there is never wonderful but today was especially notable. I was a very ill "walk-in" patient. I understand that being a "walk-in" means I'd have to wait a bit. However their new policy is to bring symptomatic patients straight into an exam room and check them in once they are isolated in a room.
So I was immediately brought into an exam room and I was then literally forgotten about for 40 minutes until I popped my head out of the room and reminded someone that I was there. They totally forgot about me, didn't check me in, nothing! 40 minutes for an extremely ill person just sitting in a room was almost torturous. The girl I notified was extremely apologetic but the one who forgot about me was rude upon my arrival. Turns out she put me in the room, said she'd be back in a few minutes, then went to lunch instead!
Next I got my favorite doctor Goyette (just kidding) I never have pleasant experiences with this woman. She made me feel like I was a walking plague. I know times are different after Covid but she came in the room in a hazmat suit, was barely examining me in fear of getting too close/touching me, then proceeded to overly disinfect everything! Even things that I never touched. After determining I needed antibiotics she then also insinuated that I need to come back for an HIV test. Too bad that was never even a concern of mine, I've been tested for all sexually transmitted diseases and I've had the same one partner (my husband) for 5 years now. What an odd suggestion when we have determined that I have a respiratory bacterial infection, other than that I haven't been sick in years. Way to make a sick miserable person unnecessarily freak out. This woman is just so off base, kind of reminded me of the time she spoke to my brother via a crack in the door when he had suspected whooping cough. If she's so terrified she probably shouldn't be practicing medicine with patients. Some of the other doctors there are great but it's hit or miss for sure.
The funny thing is, go look at the reviews for the Aspen location. A lot of people have the same story as me in regards to being forgotten in an exam room AND Goyette suggesting weird sexual/reproductive tests when the patient is there for a cold/flu. read more
