My mother is a practicing Dentist in New York City.
Dr. Amanda Ta was the most disrespectful, unprofessional, insensitive and RUDE Dentist I have ever encountered and I didn't even meet her. I was in the very next cubicle waiting for her to come in when I could LOUDLY hear her bashing me.
*Note: I had an appointment scheduled for today at 4:15pm as I work until 4pm. I received a phone call yesterday (the day before) informing me that they had overbooked at that time and I needed to reschedule. Getting this appointment into my already very busy work week was hard, but I thought I had it figured out with an afternoon appt. So, I rescheduled for the same day but at 12pm, my lunch hour. I am a Physical Therapist Technician who treats patients right up until my lunch break. I informed the staff member on the phone that this was my lunch hour and I would be there five minutes before my 12pm appt knowing I needed to fill out forms and I work very close by. I got there exactly 6 minutes before my scheduled 12pm appt and quickly filled out the IPad questions*
I digress.
The hygienist, Alyssa (sorry if I spelled that wrong) was SO kind and respectful. She listened to my concerns and assured me we would establish a treatment plan, giving me some hope about my concerns.
I mentioned not to rush but wanted to gently remind her that I was on a time crunch. Alyssa took all x-rays, images and briefly asked if I had concerns, which I did and still do. As I sat in the room, watching the time move quickly, I was ready to ask if I could come back at another time when I'm not in such a rush so we could all take our time. Seconds later I heard Dr. Amanda Ta say: "SHE SHOWS UP LATE AND EXPECTS US TO GET HER IN AND OUT ON HER TIME? WELL I DON'T KNOW WHAT SHE EXPECTS." Alyssa gently said, "She works close by". I work in health care and NEVER do I or anyone on my team speak about a patient, ESPECIALLY in such close proximity. So I stood up, popped my head out of the room to find Amanda Ta walking up to or maybe past the room I was in. She saw me and LOUDLY and sarcastically said "DO YOU NEED TO BE OUT OF HERE AT A CERTAIN TIME LAURA?" I felt as if I was being scolded by my mother for doing NOTHING wrong. I looked at her in disbelief, turned around to collect my belongings when she repeated herself, but even louder, "DO YOU NEED TO BE OUT OF HERE AT A CERTAIN TIME?" I backed away from her as she was yelling, told her "You really shouldn't talk about your patients when they are RIGHT here", thanked Alyssa for being so kind and left. I will never return or recommend.
I will take this as high up as I need to.
SHAME ON YOU AMANDA TA. SHAME ON YOU. read more
