June 4, 2026 RE: Complaint Regarding Treatment at Aspen…read moreDental - Hampton, Virginia 1070 W Mercury Bl Hampton Va 23666 I am submitting this complaint regarding my experience with Aspen Dental in Hampton, Virginia, on June 4, 2026. At approximately 8:45 a.m., I received multiple back-to-back telephone calls from an employee identified as Jennifer. I returned the call within approximately ten minutes after listening to her voicemail. During the return call, I politely asked that, going forward, I not be called repeatedly in rapid succession because I am a disabled veteran with a severe service-connected anxiety disorder. I specifically stated that my request was related to my disability and my need to maintain reasonable personal boundaries. Jennifer initially apologized. However, after I made this request, she informed me that my appointment had been cancelled. I arrived at the office shortly thereafter to discuss the matter in person. Jennifer's demeanor remained dismissive and unprofessional. I then spoke with an individual identified as Tammy, who stated she was the office manager. I attempted to explain that my concern was not the request for insurance information itself, but rather the repeated back-to-back calls and the cancellation of my appointment after I disclosed my disability and requested that my boundaries be respected. I felt that my concerns were not taken seriously. Rather than addressing my complaint, I was told that Jennifer had done nothing wrong and that I had been rude to the employee. At no time did I raise my voice, threaten anyone, or refuse to provide information. I simply requested that future communications take my disability into consideration. My appointment was scheduled to address an urgent dental concern. Being told that my appointment was cancelled immediately after disclosing my disability and requesting a reasonable accommodation caused me significant emotional distress. Following the incident, I contacted Aspen Dental Corporate and spoke with Brian L., who documented my complaint. He expressed concern regarding the circumstances and acknowledged that the repeated calls and handling of the situation were problematic. As a 100% disabled veteran with a documented anxiety disorder, I believe my disability-related concerns were disregarded and that I was treated differently after disclosing my disability. Whether intentional or not, the result was that I lost access to a scheduled dental appointment after requesting consideration for a disability-related need. I respectfully request that Aspen Dental conduct a review of this incident, including the recorded telephone call, determine whether company policies were followed, and provide a written response regarding the findings. I also request clarification regarding Aspen Dental's policies concerning disability accommodations and the cancellation of patient appointments under these circumstances. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I didn't completely understand that my first visit would be for an evaluation only! Was under the impression my teeth would be cleaned the same day! Without any discussion about my cleaning I was ushered how to the front to pay up and told I needed a deep cleaning and they couldn't start till I paid $500 which was just a portion of the total cost! It's been a horrible experience!

My visit never happened due to the fact That I did'nt call them back to verify my Insurance when…read morethe operations Manager thought I should have. My appointment was on a Tuesday I called to give my information on Monday at 1:35 and was told the the operations manger cancelled my appointment because my insurance needed to be verified before my appoint. Monday is before Tuesday last I checked I know that The insurance can be verified in minutes. So my questions was when was I suppose to verify "When she wanted me to? I work the same hours that they open and cant jump on the phone when she needs information being I think that my information is private and work in an office environment. When I made this appointment I told them the problem I was having and that it was painful so to cancel and not give me adequate amount of time to call in a day before seems to show a lack of compassion for potential clients. I think that this office needs to give a specific time that you NEED to call back before they cancel your appointment without communicating this to you, if I hadn't called I would have taken off just to get there and the appointment would have been canceled. Waste of my time and loose money. Mind you I took this date off so that I could make the appointment and be on time. If a medical office have this kind of rules I think that they should notify you when you make the appointment. I spoke to this location twice and was never told that they had to verify my insurance more than 24hrs. before the appointment each time I told them I would call them back when I could talk, I think a day before is adequate amount of time to verify insurance if not they may need to check their practices. So to the operations Manager find some compassion and understanding for the working people that can't talk on their personal phones while they are at work as I am assure that many of us can't get on the phone when we want to at work to discuss personal affairs. Don't forget that once upon a time you were where we are at. Compassion and consideration is important when working with the public and it's free. After reading other reviews I can see that there needs to be a shake up at this location. remember what goes around always come back around. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION.

The office was impressively clean, and I felt welcome the moment I walked through the door. I was especially delighted to meet their in‑office service animal, Cosmo--calming, adorable, and truly a highlight of my visit. Dr. Tucker's team was warm, professional, and attentive. The front desk technician greeted me with a genuine smile and assisted me almost immediately. Every staff member introduced themselves with kindness and professionalism, which made me feel well cared for throughout my visit. The X‑ray technician was efficient and pleasant, making the process quick and comfortable. Dr. Tucker conducted a thorough examination and was transparent about my treatment plan and associated costs. I also have to highlight the hygienist--I've never had someone so knowledgeable, precise, and informative. She explained things I had never heard before, leaving me feeling empowered and confident in how to care for my beautifully cleaned teeth. Her expertise is a true testament to the team's dedication to patient education and high‑quality care. I genuinely cannot wait to return for another 5‑star experience. Amazing job, Dr. Tucker and team. With this level of care, I'm not sure why anyone would have complaints. This office truly knows how to take care of their patients

I have several dental issues that need attention, including a crown adjustment. During the discussion, I was informed that the dentist would charge me the full amount for adjusting my crown, as if it were a new one. I was told the dentist would need to remove my crown. You do not need to remove a crown to do an adjustment. A new crown is 1,500- 2,000 dollars so that amount for an adjustment is outrageous!!! They highly recommended that I visit the dentist who had placed the crown on me. This was the first time I had ever heard such a recommendation. I believe that whoever scheduled the appointments should have informed me or the office well in advance, at least more than two days before the appointment.

On other occasions, I've received calls asking if I can drop everything and come in immediately because an opening became available. It seems that management or staffing may have changed, as I don't recall experiencing these issues in the past. I returned to this location after purchasing a home in the area, and I was previously very satisfied with the care and scheduling at the Mechanicsville location. The constant rescheduling has become inconvenient enough that I'm considering contacting my dental insurance provider to explore other options. The receptionist has always been kind, patient, and professional, and I understand these scheduling issues are likely beyond her control. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for her to handle so many rescheduling calls from frustrated patients. I hope the office can improve its scheduling process, as it would make a significant difference in the overall patient experience.

She insisted my insurance wouldn't work and made me call my insurance company. Everything here is super slow moving. They told me to wait for the hygienist to come in and then they forgot about me. I sat waiting in the room by myself for over 40 minutes. When the doctor saw me, he spent maybe 5 minutes with me. When I finally was able to leave, i couldn't check out because the secretary was (of course) not at the desk. I just don't trust this place much at all. Everyone was unprofessional, except for the doctor- but he was largely unhelpful. I made an appointment here as an emergency for a severe toothache i've been having, and the doctor told me i should have the tooth pulled and then left. Didn't give me any recommendations for managing the pain or anything I didn't feel taken seriously at all.

Not only did the dentist not care at all about my anxiety and at times pain, she was very rude, judgy and condescending about it. She kept telling me that my pain was "just pressure" and I was letting my fear and anxiety get in the way. She was very rough in trying to pull my tooth out and didnt seem to care how I felt all the while telling me my pain was pressure as I was about to come out the seat. They are also very aggressive with trying to sell you a dental plan. Trying to charge someone $14,000 to get work done is insane! The front desk lady was very nice along with the dentist assistant. That is about the only good thing that happened at this visit! If I hadn't been in so much pain I would have gone to my normal dentist (konikoff... they would.never) if they could have gotten me in before the weekend. So i looked around and thought i would.give aspen a shot (mainly because they were able to get me in that day) but i will never be back to this office

My husband and I both had appointments set at Aspen. We were new to the area with new insurance…read more Called around to several places and it was months before we could get in. So we decided to try Aspen, we wanted to get our cleanings which were overdue about 3 months. Reviews on in some places were great, in others not so much. Knew it was a gamble. My experience with reception and even the lady who did my x-rays was pleasant. Minimum wait at first. Then i went in with the hygienist and the hard sales started. From that point for the next 90 minutes (yes 90 minutes from start of cleaning to actually being able to leave) was non-stop sales. If it was not a service, it was a product. When I checked out, a "plan of care" was presented along with financing options. I was not interested in anything additional. Several of the issues they mentioned, had previously been discussed with my old dentist in my former location. I knew they were not concerns, certainly nothing I needed to go out of pocket hundreds of dollars (after insurance) for. My husbands had a similar experience, but they did not complete a cleaning, nor did the schedule one at the end of the evaluation. They want him to fork over well over a thousand dollars for many of the same services recommended to me. It feels predatory. I deep dove after my husband had his experience and found the lawsuits related to predatory practices and other questionable business practices. I have seen other reviews where Aspen has responded and told reviewers to call. I will happily communicate via email or snail mail, I am not trying to call again.
