My visit never happened due to the fact That I did'nt call them back to verify my Insurance when the operations Manager thought I should have. My appointment was on a Tuesday I called to give my information on Monday at 1:35 and was told the the operations manger cancelled my appointment because my insurance needed to be verified before my appoint. Monday is before Tuesday last I checked I know that The insurance can be verified in minutes. So my questions was when was I suppose to verify "When she wanted me to? I work the same hours that they open and cant jump on the phone when she needs information being I think that my information is private and work in an office environment. When I made this appointment I told them the problem I was having and that it was painful so to cancel and not give me adequate amount of time to call in a day before seems to show a lack of compassion for potential clients. I think that this office needs to give a specific time that you NEED to call back before they cancel your appointment without communicating this to you, if I hadn't called I would have taken off just to get there and the appointment would have been canceled. Waste of my time and loose money. Mind you I took this date off so that I could make the appointment and be on time. If a medical office have this kind of rules I think that they should notify you when you make the appointment. I spoke to this location twice and was never told that they had to verify my insurance more than 24hrs. before the appointment each time I told them I would call them back when I could talk, I think a day before is adequate amount of time to verify insurance if not they may need to check their practices. So to the operations Manager find some compassion and understanding for the working people that can't talk on their personal phones while they are at work as I am assure that many of us can't get on the phone when we want to at work to discuss personal affairs. Don't forget that once upon a time you were where we are at. Compassion and consideration is important when working with the public and it's free. I was a few minutes late for an appointment that Aspen cancelled twice and tried to cancel again, so the rude young lady at the front said I was past my grace period and they were short staffed, so they can't see me! They gave me another appointment in the middle of the next month! My original appointment was in the beginning of the month before! My bottom denture keeps breaking and I have insurance! I have never let a review on yelp before. Never felt like it was that serious or important to do so. Today is the exception, this place is one that you should avoid. I went there to get seen for braces and they told me I needed a new crown. No one explained to me what was the process and that I would need to come twice. I dot. Even know the name of my dentist because she appears and disappears without introducing herself. I got a trial crown put on and the tech placed it. They told me not to eat for an hour. I waited an hour and a half to be safe. My crown fell off. I just called and they told me they don't have anyone to put it back on and to put it back with Vaseline or tooth paste and eat with the other side of my mouth. They can't see me until next Wednesday. The girl put the crown backwards because it was uncomfortable. Honestly, if you need care don't go here. They both explain procedures clearly and work together as a very cohesive and confident team. The professionalism does not stop with them. The staff has always been very prompt and courteous. When I read some of the negative reviews here, it does not sound like the experience I have had at all. My mother is moving to live with us from Nevada and she will be seeing Dr. Cozy as well. How do I sum up the greed, failures, rudeness and incompetence experienced in one visit?? I truly can't. Worst dental experience ever. Definitely wish I had read reviews before letting my out of state freshman college student Uber there only to be charged hundreds of dollars for NOTHING but a bs examine. No pain meds no antibiotics not to mention her gums are swollen and bleeding. For our benefit I checked our insurance website to verify aspen and Dr Julia Young were accepting patients before selecting this location as a primary doctor. I was able to...Knowing some cost associated with this dental emergency would be covered by insurance. Magically they weren't accepting any more patients from our insurance carrier. Yet this is now our primary location. Not to mention they told my daughter she was assigned to a different location which was a lie. We never selected primary care prior to this visit. What it boils down to is money.. they are able to charge you more out of pocket than what insurance would pay not to mention cash is immediate versus claims. My daughter was quoted just under 5k. I would also bet staff doesn't know how to successfully navigate tools associated with insurance verification, new patient enrollment or turning enrollment on/off. I spoke to the "office manager" twice throughout the process she attempts to give long winded explanations full of crap and never intends on hearing what you have to say. Honestly it would have been cheaper to fly out of the country to get work done then fly her back. I see why so many people are doing it. Solidified my idea to drop dental. However I'm not dropping this and I'll make sure the university knows about the experience here and we create a list of credible locations to support our young adults while navigating college away from home. I'm very disheartened to have to leave this review. I had to find a new dentist after my dentist of 15 years that's all my whole family stop taking my insurance sadly. I happen to have a really bad infection that was ongoing constantly and it was the most pain I've ever been in. After kidney stones and childbirth and the load it was still the worst pain. I was told by my mom who lives in Indiana to go to Aspen dental. I was very hopeful. I met with the dentist but he never looked in my mouth or anything. He routed me to the office manager to run my credit to try to get a financial loan to do some work while I had this bad infection that he refused to give me antibiotics for. His office on my first visit told me to go elsewhere to get the antibiotics. But yet I'm getting all my work done with you and spending $20,000 plus dollars? So I got some from my regular doctor who of course asked me why the dentist wouldn't do it. And then I had to go online when the infection got worse than my doctor wasn't available. Then I had to go to the ER got so bad. It was affecting my entire body. They gave me clindamycin and a mouthwash which is exactly what the dentist should have given me and said he would give me had he not been "worried it hurt my stomach". For contacts I was in the hospital a few weeks prior because I was throwing up a lot. That was fixed and I was recovered from that. The answer is certainly not to continue the infection and not help your patient but still try to get them to apply for a loan. Stupidly enough I was still going to use them for my dentistry needs. The dentist requested that he talked to one of my doctors to ask if it was okay to have teeth pulled. I've never had that happen before but I told him that my GI doctor is the only one that I've seen for years and years that knows my background well enough to answer that. He wanted my GI doctor who was very busy and well known to call him. My GI doctor was so kind enough to leave me a voicemail stating that it was okay to do the work and I called the office to let them know that. That was still not good enough for them. They wanted to talk to the GI doctor themselves. I told the GI doctor's nurse that. She said he was out on town and she sounded irritated understandably but she would send him a message. She said that the GI doctor called and left several messages stating that it was okay to move forward. That was weeks and weeks ago and I have yet to hear from them. Except when I was looking through my voicemails I did get a voicemail from the manager asking if I was still wanted to go forward with the financial loan. Which I had already told them I wasn't going to go through them and I had gotten the money elsewhere and I was ready to go. $15,000 in my account ready to go. But they don't want your money apparently. Why are you in business or a dentist if you don't help people that have infections in their mouth that could ultimately kill them? So thank God I found a really good dentist that is already started to work. Pulled my infected teeth just yesterday and I'm going to have the rest done soon and get ready to get these snap and dentures. Aspen also said that I had to wait 6 months to get the snap and dentures after having my teeth removed. My new dentist said 3 months. When I went to the new dentist I was certain I would probably not be able to afford it it looked so nice. Right when I walked in they were very kind and the dentist was phenomenal. He heard my cries of the months of infections and not being able to get help from the dentists that at Aspen which waste of my time which therefore made my infection continue when it could have gotten helped a long time ago had I found a different dentist sadly. He said not to ever go to Aspen they are just a corporation that care about your money and he was clearly right. I can't believe they have still not calling me to this day. My husband has called Aspen or multitude of times trying to get an update and to move forward and tell them we had the money we're ready to go and nobody has ever called back. Do not go to this place. And I don't make reviews often negatively because I don't want to affect anyone's business if it's not valid. But this, was well valid in my experience. Went yesterday for an appointment, (cleaning) nothing hard waited an hour before contacting the woman in the front about my appointment. She replied you need to take care of bill before you can be seen. This was not told to me when I arrived and checked in, so how can I now. I then proceeded to pay what was owed, I saw a discrepancy in the billing, so i pointed that out and it seemed like I was lying just because the paper work says I owe this much, after getting an attitude from her, she finally took the calculator out and did the math, and sure enough I was correct and paid what I needed to. If I could give this place 0 stars I would! I called the number, spoke to a customer representative, because my filling fell out, and I'm in excruciating pain, and was seeing if they did walk ins. The representative said it is considered an emergency, and I was told yes. When I got to this location, I was informed that they aren't doing walk ins today, because it requires an appointment to get X-rays done, and see what the issue is, and that could be a couple of days. There were only 2 people sitting in the waiting room (maybe more were getting seen, but that's all I saw). I did not mind waiting at all! But I was just told repeatedly that it had to be by appointment only. Not to mention one of the ladies behind the desk was rude, and she made it seem as if I was inconveniencing her day. Well my appointment was at 4pm I arrived I arrived at 3:50. I didn't get called into the back until at 4:30. Got my x rays done. Then someone came into my room checked my teeth and gums. Then I waited for over an hour for this so called dr to come. At this point it was already 5:50. I was irritated and I left. Worst dental practice ever. First they draw you in with the free exam then they overcharge you. The accounting "department" (which is one person with e GED) will screw up your payment and not post them or give credits where they are due. The dentist actually slipped while cutting into my mother's gums causing her great great pain and anxiety, as well as 10 stitches. Not even so much as an apology. They hounded her to make a follow up as soon as she qualified for financing, calling sometimes twice a day, yet when she tried to call them for pre-surgery medications, they would not return the call or take any action. Today we show up for her 1 pm extractions at 1245, the customary 15 minutes before the appt, and the front door was locked "for lunch". Had to wait outside in the drizzly cold weather with an at-risk elderly woman so they could finish there leisurely meal. Don't consider this dental practice. I scheduled an implant consultation 3 weeks in advance and online, as directed by their website. I traveled for 2 hours to arrive early and was told by text, email, and on phone that the appointment was now cancelled because no dentist is available. Went to the office to seek assistance from administrative staff and told to wait. Sitting in office I overhead 2 separate disgruntled patients talking about their negative experience at that location. After 20 minutes of no attention I left. short time later, I received yet another email and text saying appointment is still on. I returned only to be questioned on why I was there, even having staff take a pic of my messages. Finally, after 20 min talked to staff who now informed me they don't do permanent implants and acknowledged that website is incorrect. What a nightmare and how unprofessional. This place is absolutely horrible. Short staffed or not the front desk staff is rude. I stood at the front desk for 15 minutes when there was only 1 patient in the lobby and the lady at the front desk never made eye contact or said anything. She then walked away for another 10 minutes and someone else eventually helped me. The manager then came out and said they needed to reschedule my appointment because I never confirmed my appointment. 1) I confirmed my appointment in the email and 2) they never called or texted me.. why would they be able to cancel the appointment? That is horrible customer service. I work in a doctors office and I would say about 50% of patients don't confirm their appointment.. but we dont just cancel it. At least send a reminder that the appointment is canceled or something. Don't go here unless you want to be inconvenienced/rescheduled every single time you go. This place is all about money. They will not schedule your regular cleaning appointment unless you will do deep cleaning that cast over $700 with insurance. It happened to me, my husband and my friend. I was seen by different practice and such a cleaning wasn't necessary for me (I go to dentist for cleaning every 6 months never had issues with my teeth). When doctor showed me "my x-rays" that was somebody ales. I told them that because I know I do not missing any teeth (x-ray was showing missing teeth's). The office manager very unprofessional smells like box of cigarettes. My sons cleaning appointment that was scheduled 6 months earlier was cancelled and nobody even care that we need to take time off from work to come and see them. We requested that along with the treatment plan that they work with our insurance to get a pre authorization so that we are only paying 50% of $7,000 because we can't afford to pay more than $3,500 so they assured us that only $3500 is all that we are paying before we proceed & now we end up being billed for $3500+$2625= $7,125. My mother had a dental emergency. She was an extreme pain and the whole side of her face was swollen up. This made it so that she was unable to eat or talk. We contacted Aspen dental on a Friday to set up an appointment. They were able to see her on Monday, today. Today she was finally able to speak a little bit so she called them to ask where they were located. She was informed that they had called her to confirm her appointment and since she did not answer the phone which she could not do because she was unable to speak that they had canceled her appointment and would not be able to fit her in for 2 weeks. Apparently their policy is without a verbal confirmation they won't keep your appointment. I asked how they can serve people who can't speak if they require a verbal confirmation. She said they have other ways to confirm in that case. Apparently my mother didn't count. She has not eaten in days. Had we known they were going to cancel her appointment which again she had already just scheduled a couple of days ago, we would have been making calls all weekend trying to find her an appointment. As a grown adult who has struggled finding comfort and care at a dentist s office, I can say I have finally found a place I feel cared for and respected. The staff at Aspen Dental were phenomenal. From beginning to end, the Dr. Was amazing. He cut into his lunch break, as did his dental asst. Because they could see my pain. They were compassionate, median priced, and most importantly when I was in the exam room, I felt like I mattered. I have already referred a friend, and plan to only use Aspen Dental for all of my upcoming procedures! If I could give them 10 stars I would. This dentist office charged my wife excessively for a dental cleaning to include duplicate charges. they also did not do a verification of service with our insurance prior to treatment. the final bill for a dental cleaning was in excess of $1,200.00. They definitely only care about money. I had a bad gum infection caused by receiving a coronectomy at this practice and was in severe pain. I called the Norfulk VA office the morning of 9/13/2018. To my surprise the were able to get me in later the same day. The Xrays and first visit was free. Very awesome. Everyone in the building were very beautiful people. After the Xrays. The first doctor came in with a very angelic presence. Very sweet hearted and kind. She showed me the with great detail what the images showed and what needed to be done. Then I was introduced to another very kind sweet hearted woman. The financial advisor Mrs. Janay. She was very thoughtful. Very intelligent. Able to fully explain very clearly the prices and options that are ahead. She gave me a figure of $10,500. I thought to myself, shut down again. We discussed the situation Im in and told her an amount that I had and was able to pay. Nowhere near 10 grand. She then went and spoke to Dr. Phaup. Thats when the magical mixture that Im not used to happening my entire life. Human compassion, kindness, and God took into the mixt. she came back and said the doctor would do the operation for exactly what I have. Just to be clear, All My Teeth thats left have to come out. He agreed to do something i have been begging for years. Just a little Help. I cant think them enough. Nothing I can do could ever show how grateful I am. It is a complete life changer...
