If you have Tricare, beware. I went there for a checkup and cleaning. I hadn't been to dentist in over a year. They did X-rays and the dentist checked my teeth. After she left, I was told they didn't have anyone to do my cleaning. They said they were in the process of hiring someone. They didn't tell me this information when I made the appointment. A few weeks later, I get a bill for $162.00. They said Tricare didn't cover the total amount of my X-rays. This is the first time I received a bill for X-rays. I will not be going back. read more

My mom and I went to Aspen Dental because they offered a free cleaning and exam and also dentures at an affordable price. The first doctor I saw, Dr. Vaughn was TERRIBLE!! He pulled my mother's teeth and left her laying in the chair knowing that she couldn't stand very well on her own and I was in another exam room and she ended up getting up and fell. It took five people to get her up because she was so loopy from the anesthesia. That was at the beginning of 2024. We have had several sets of temporary dentures made and have already been fitted for our permanent dentures but now I can't get an answer from them. I paid cash for what my insurance didn't cover which was about $1200 and my mother had to finance her balance with American First Finance. I would love a response from Aspen Dental that is real and not automated. I call the number everyday and leave a message however I never hear back from anyone. I guess I will just have to go over there. It's just crazy that they want their money on time but can't get back with me on time. If I could give zero stars I would. I don't know if it's the practice or policy. Came in last week for an emergency tooth pulled on my left side. They did x-rays gave me options. Told me they COULD NOT TELL if it spread or not need more x-rays. Long story short stayed in pain another week for a full exam to find out they could have told me the first visit if it spread or not. Came in for full visit to be told x-ray off the left side did not have to be done because it was done last visit. Meaning they could have told me then if I spread even if it took the full exam to tell me how much it spread. I will contact my insurance I'm pretty sure this is illegal no matter how you put it or immoral at the very lease. No I would NEVER recommend a office of any kind who would have me in the pain I was in for NOTHING. read more

Aspen Dental - Who's mad? Don't be mad do better. - Oral Surgeons Near Me - Suffolk, Virginia

My experience with Aspen Dental in Suffolk, VA was horrific. I went in on an emergency visit. The Dr was rude and stated that he would only give me 5 minutes- this was in the waiting room, in front of other patients. The x-ray technician was very sweet. I tried my best to be pleasant through the pain. Turns out that I had a crown and the whole top of my tooth were gone. I told him that I was in extreme pain. I told him that I was taking 1000 mg of tylenol alternating with 1000 ml of ibuprofen, which he didn't have the decency to even listen to me. He told me that was going to give me some pain medication- 800 mg of ibuprofen, which did absolutely nothing for the pain on it's own. Then they scheduled the extraction for several weeks later- mind you in excruciating pain the whole time. The person going over the plan was rude and snarky. ( I have two insurances and the last time I was there she gave me all the wrong prices cause she only looked at 1 insurance.) Day for the extraction comes and I am overjoyed that hopefully I will be out of pain. Dentist tries to numb me up. I told him that over the years that tooth has notoriously been very hard to numb. He gives me a shot and about 1 minute later, he's back and trying to pull the tooth. I tell him that it hurts. He gives me another shot, waits another minute, and tries to pull it, once again- it freaking hurts. So he gave me a little more, waits a minute and tries again. I tell him it hurts- he tells me that I'm not in pain that it's just pressure. Dude, seriously? I have had major operations including knee replacements, I have had a broken shoulder and major shoulder surgery, I have birthed 2 children- I can tell the difference between pressure and pain. I am so insulted at this point, I was like, just let him pull it and put up with the pain. So, he starts pulling, and pulling, and pulling, his tools are digging into my gums, which I can feel 100% pain. He couldn't pull it, so he eventually cut it out- great. So after all of that I was sent home and told to take Tylenol. Are you serious? My husband's dentist at a different location had so much more emphathy for him. I was in pain for 6 weeks. I will never go back to that office- ever. read more

Be aware if they say they accept your insurance and say even if we don't accept your insurance you get a free exam...its only for people who either have no insurance at all or have insurance in their network. I went there in good faith that they would honor what I was told...i came from a distance and put myself at risk for covid or flu/cold because of them...when I get there the supervisor (suspposedly) Kayla was non chalant, rude and did not care one bit...i loss time and money /inconvenienced my life to be there promptly...did absolutely nothing to make things right...just cold...i am trying to save anyone else from this unnecessary frustration. read more

I left a review about Aspen dental and it was not a good review. I was returned with the same generic response from these owner as everyone else. It's like the owner doesn't even care if I was the owner of this company I would address it immediately because the problem is the dentist and the staff. So why would the owner just pass it along to the office team? By the way nobody got back to me and I was in excruciating pain and had infection. The owner should be shut down if even the owner won't do anything about the issues and problems that go on there. They need to fire everybody and start over and take some customer service classes or something I'm not satisfied with the response I got let alone the problem I had to get the response about will not recommend this place to anyone read more

This office uses an automated phone system and when they decide not to answer the phone this system takes over. I was trying to contact the office when I got stuck on base during an apparent lockdown where no body was allowed to get off bas. I had plenty of time to get there but I was stuck sitting in my truck waiting for the traffic to move. I realized that I was going to be late I was going to be late I tried to call and got that stupid automated phone system. I left a message for them to call me back immediately. Since I have had bad experience with this system I knew that these people will not call any time soon. I kept calling until I human being answered by this tim I was on my way and about halfway there when they finally answered. I'm pissed off that they treat people in this manner. They should have at one people stationed at the front desk performing the administrative tasks for that day or how ever long they want. No phone call should ever lead a patient in circles just to get a question answered. I would not recommend this company for dental care. I'm going to search for another dentist. If 0 stars were an option that's what I'd give. I arrived for my appointment today only to be told I'd been removed from the schedule. They claimed to have called twice the day before to confirm (they called once) and since I didn't confirm they took me off. However, I DID call to confirm and left a voicemail because no one answered. Had they checked their voicemail, they'd have known this. This isn't the first time something like this has happened either. My very first appointment, I was told that since I'd booked online and their system was down, they didn't have me on the books. I was annoyed, but things happen. But today, there was no excuse. Save yourself the trouble and find a professional practice. read more

Stay Away.. this place has roaches! Today was my first time being seen here, everyone was really friendly. Upon completion of my exam/evaluation I was escorted to the waiting area (a green room). As I'm sitting there I noticed a roach crawling out from a chair and up unto the wall and preceed to crawl behind a picture hanging on the wall. I informed one of the employees on what I had witness and she appeared shocked, stating that she had never seen a roach in the building before. I told her if she removed that picture from the wall she would definitely see one today. This is unacceptable, roaches in a dental office!! I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS LOCATION. read more

From the front office folks to the hygienist to the doctor, they all made it a easy and painless experience. I walked in at 2pm with a bad tooth abscess and was out by 4. The whole staff made me comfortable and at ease. I've avoided dentist offices for 20 years and I am very relieved and out of pain! read more

DON'T GO HERE!!! They're really INCONVENIENT and UNPROFESSIONAL and DON'T COMPENSATE FOR YOUR WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY! My fiancé's tooth is cracked and we've been waiting since JULY to get it checked but they keep rescheduling him when we had been SCHEDULING WAY IN ADVANCE! This is UNACCEPTABLE because why keep scheduling him on days in advance and knowing that all of your patients have certain days to get checked then say "your Hygienist chose to go on vacation that day of the week..." All of the patients that are supposed to have their teeth checked have to reschedule. I do not find it right because they said it was ok and confirmed our appointment then all of a sudden there's some sort of change? They keep saying "because of COVID too..." but majority of the time keep saying your hygienist keeps going on vacation??? Why keep scheduling patients if you're not going to check on them? WHERE ARE THEY GUNNA GO ON VACATION WHEN EVERYONE IS ON LOCK DOWN TOO??????? I also had went for ONLY a regular teeth clean appointment then all of a sudden I have gingivitis that's supposed to be easily cured on its own. The hygienist said that my mouth was also swollen so they have to a gingivitis deep clean too and I had asked them "well if I so called have this gingivitis and it's "easily curable" on its own then why do I have to have this "deep cleaned" and why wasn't I notified about this "gingivitis" during the last check up???" They told me I was supposed to be notified and I told them I wasn't. I had them go through the prices and it said I had to pay over $600 which I didn't understand bc I paid half of the payments last time I went for the check up and now all I have to do is pay for the cleaning and I only owed $230 and told them to do the math again and they said oh they made a mistake...but I still had to get a gingivitis cleaning. Very friendly. But i just kept getting the feeling that they were salesmen. Telling me i need this, and i need that etc. They need to see me more often, etc. Then i go to checkout and they tell me it will cost almost $4000 to do all the stuff "i need," which was just some deep cleaning! Was like $1800 for each side of my mouth? Plus some other fees. I had a cheaper estimate to get all 4 wisdom teeth removed with anesthesia! So yea, my suspicions were confirm when they handed me that estimate. They dont care about anything except up-selling and giving you stuff that, yea, you "may need" but also may not be necessary. This place is unprofessional and violates the HIPPA Act. When I first went last year the hygienist yell I had I gingivitis. Which wasn't true as confirmed by the dentist. I told the office manager I didn't appreciate her doing that. 2nd around 6 months ago the office lady was being a smart-ass. The credit card machine was down. Told me how I needed to go to Bayport Credit Union's ATM and get their $$. I never seen such behavior from any dentist or any medical provider in my life over $25. Really. I paid them the next day. Get a life. Lastly a couple of weeks ago, as I left the dentist the same hygienist was mad at me because I was mad at my next later in the afternoon as oppose to midway. Then as I walking out this same hygienist was telling her co-workers about how bad my mouth was. This dentist office don't stand well with me. I'm off transferring me and my files to somewhere else. If my business gets discuss I won't think 2X about reporting them to the state. If the hygienist talks this way about me I'm sure she giving another client a "break". I can't say enough good words about the Aspen Dental office in Suffolk at Harborview. I went in with a very intense fear and I was put at ease right away. I have been back for several visits and each time everyone has been friendly( I am greeted with a smile by absolutely everyone)and extremely caring. Dental Assistant Talia will sweetly calm me every time. Doctor Leslie takes her time to listen and explain all procedures. read more

It is now 1:32pm, I got here at 9:45am. The staff is really friendly and caring. The dentist barley told me her name and after saying the same thing 3 or 4 times, wasn't going to prescribe me antibiotics for a tooth abscess because I have seasonal allergies and likely sinusitis. The antibiotics tend to overlap for the dental and sinus areas, why she didn't know that I don't know. She also prescribed a medication that is to be taken 3 times per day and weaker than an alternative that can be prescribed for twice a day and has a broader coverage which would treat dental and sinus infections. Why she didn't know that, or consider that, I don't know. I will likely not be back here for anything other than routine care and that's only because it's 5 mins from my house and accepts my insurance. read more
