The most unprofessional and worst medical experiences of my family's life. Service - Terrible, borderline Malpractice. My wife had over 10 appointments for a single root canal over the span of a year. It was done poorly multiple times and had to be re-done. One time they left cotton & thread in her mouth and secured the crown and left it there in her gums for months before realizing it the next appointment and removing it. They had the her crown delivered to a different office and when she showed up, they realized the mistake, unapologetically. They were confused over which crown was the right one since they took multiple molds and made multiple versions. Ended up securing the wrong fitting crown which fell out after a month. The list goes on. Communication / Organization - Terrible. Reference above and after ten appointments give or take, my wife is going to a new dentist to get a proper root canal on the same tooth. Multiple instances of last minute cancellations, changing the appointment time the morning of (later and earlier), after taking off work, securing childcare, etc. Does not return phone calls, does not want to help, reactive communication, etc. Three different times where I took off work to watch the kids and they call late the night prior or the morning of to cancel on us. Obvious disorganization and a lack of respect and care for people's time. Front Office - The unprofessionalism of the office clerk, Tony/Toni is unforgivable. Unfathomable. My wife and I have called politely multiple times only to be given no information, met with confusion, attitude, resistance, zero situational awareness, and no willingness to attempt to solve the problem; even when they caused them. After telling us the day prior, and multiple visits, that they don't accept tricare and won't serve active duty, they said "we're not sure what happened, but we shouldn't have treated you." ...What? How do you not know that? Thankfully my wife got in the habit of calling a few days prior, to confirm the appointments, and they finally returned a call to say, sorry find a new dentist. The laughable part is they won't release her medical records to the new dentist that does accept tricare. They are physically unable because they state their software won't let them. I'll assume they can't consolidate a report into a file and send encrypted via email. I'll assume they have no way to hand patient continuity to any location or print and provide to my wife to hand carry. After hanging up on us multiple times, we got a hold of the office manager, Carol who was equally unhelpful and said she would call back with a solution at 2. It is 4 hours later and nothing heard. They won't call back and that's okay at this point. I fully expect her records will not be transferred and we will incur the cost to get re-imaging and scans that were accomplished within the last 30 days, because of a failure to want to help. They don't want to help...ever. It's truly astonishing. I've seen my wife cry maybe 5 times in time I've known her (over a decade). 2-3 of those were after interactions with this dentist. The lack of professional skills, the disrespect, and disorganization in the front office is 100% indicative of the work that happens behind the front desk. If I remember correctly, the owners / dentists are prior military. They must despise the military community because they have absolutely failed us with no afterthought. I've been coming here years. And I'm so done! The toano office would consistently cancel my appointments the day of "we don't have anyone in due to illness" so I started going back to the Williasburg location and well they decided they needed to "cancel my appt" as they called me and "I said I had been in antibiotics and could not make it " I Was never called I responded to their text that I confirmed I had proof I confirmed and was told no. I showed my proof day and time. I drive over 45 mins and they old we can try and squeeze you in! This is beyond unprofessional. You all messed up but I have to pay the price for incompetence. led since they couldn't even make a phone call to tell me the price and she said, we don't take your insurance after Id been seen there multiple times at this point. Wouldn't apologize, wouldn't explain, wouldn't help me. Just too bad so sad. I'm finding a new dentist I called to have my information sent over, scans etc. they said they couldn't do it. I talked to a manager after the receptionist tried to hang up on me multiple times simply asking for clarification. The Manager said she'd call me back at 2 one day and she never did and never has. On top of all of this, my husband is in the Air Force, working his butt off. Traveling frequently for long periods of time and we don't have friends or family nearby to trust with our babies. My husband works hard so I can stay witn my kids every day and to see how they value time, money and the military people of this area is so sad. We've all gone to dentist our entire lives and for us the luxury of living in multiple locations, I know this is unacceptable. Even their own dentist knew it was unacceptable to have me sent to Williamsburg. read more

I have been working out-of-state for the past few months and was finally able to get a day off to come to the Williamsburg Office for what I thought was a veneer replacement consult, but unbeknowst to me, a crown replacement was scheduled and by God's Mercy performed today! This Dental group is far from professional. They want their payment at the time of service but they were very lax about filing for me to get reimbursement. When it finally happened they requested that the check paid by my provider be sent directly to them ,though, they had already received $409.94 from me. The insurance company paid them $204.24 and they refused to give it to me as they had not been paid for a cleaning that was done on February 17th. which had nothing to do with the service I paid for. This non payment for the service on February 17th. was due to their lackadaisical handeling of paperwork. Maybe if they put more time in some sensiitivity training and honesty. I needed an antibiotic before my appointment. I didn't get a confirmation call just a Robo text. Tried to get my script before appointment. They charged me $14 for 4 amoxicillin. I never got a refill as Carol said. The pharmacy charged me .78cents. I requested the refills again that I never got before. I pay for their insurance. The pharmacy was appalled as I was. I LOVE AMY!!!! The best hygienist! Candy and Dr Sanchez and Hannah are top notch. I only continue at this office for them. Don't go here if you are financially strapped. That $14 on top of the fluoride I wasn't expecting. But Carol demanded the payment next day. I didn't have the $14. Sad that they don't reward loyalty. The referrals I have sent to them I have never even received a thank you. But they got my $14! Truly appalling. read more

Mediocre is the most descriptive, and that is generous.. Needed a new top denture. Dentist tried to make a copy rather than a mouth cast. First tried an imaging scan of existing denture but was unable to complete this novel procedure: one wasted appt. Next appt, he made a cast of my existing denture. Next appt, the fitting was found to be poor and another appt scheduled for a reline. After that appt, and the relined denture returned, the fit was a bit better but still poor. I am stuck with it. He should have done it the correct way from the beginning. Every previous denture cast from gums is far superior and took far less appointments. read more

It's readily apparent the team at Morrison Dental Group enjoy their work. I've been there during peak periods and less busy times. I couldn't discern a notable difference in terms of their professionalism. They are centered on providing great patient care! The dental assistants work hand in hand with the providers and they seem to know exactly what the doctor needs to ensure patient satisfaction. I have been a patient here for just over a year and have had 3 appointments so far. Each time has been phenomenal! Everyone on staff is kind, helpful, and obviously enjoy their jobs. I have not had to wait for any appointment, and all of my appointments have been efficient and as comfortable as possible! I have had considerable dental and orthodontic work in my life, and have spent countless hours in a dental chair (so I have some experience to compare to). I have been blown away with the skill, ease, communication, and efficiency at which everyone at this office works. Truly the best dental practice I've experienced. Today I went in for a cleaning and to have a cavity filled - they found additional cavities and were able to simply add those fillings onto my appointment; barely adding any additional time and prioritizing quick treatment. I enjoyed Monica who did my cleaning, she was very nice. However the doctor that came in to exam my teeth was off putting. I believe it was the asian or Chinese woman. She made me feel uncomfortable and obviously needs more customer care training. This was my first visit at this office and knowing were in Williamsburg I expected more professiona, friendly people but sadly to say the Hampton office was way more welcoming. I'm sure this office has some great workers but Im disappointed I met the wrong one. She might want to work on making her patients feel comfortable and not worry bout "what's going on with my mind" and accusing me of doing something on purpose when I tried to explain to her the actual problem. I really left the office wondering if I was crazy because of the way she began acting although I never said anything offensive to her. Very skeptic about my next visit. read more

I had an appointment scheduled for this morning (October) which I booked in July. I confirmed twice via telephone to a receptionist after receiving messages from the office, and once via email after having received emails from the office, that I would attend the appointment. I was informed when I physically showed up to the appointment and tried to check in that my appointment had been cancelled. When I asked what happened between talking to a receptionist two business days prior and today, the receptionist said something about a hygienist emergency, and told me that I really should have texted (!!!) the office this morning to confirm that my appointment was still on (???). I had no missed calls from this morning, and actually received another reminder email from them two hours prior to the appointment time with information about what I needed to bring, etc. I had one singular missed call from them on Friday afternoon (the appointment was scheduled for Monday at 11a), but the Friday call didn't leave a voice message and I had already confirmed the appointment with them twice via phone so I didn't think it was important. I rescheduled in person while frankly in a bit of shock about the situation and then came to my senses about an hour later and called to cancel. The person I spoke to over the phone when cancelling told me that I had never confirmed my appointment for today, or that my confirmation hadn't been recorded, so who knows what really happened. I have worked in healthcare and am sympathetic to schedule changes, emergencies, and staffing issues. Stuff happens, I get it. What I find totally unacceptable is failure to communicate that to patients. I literally showed up to an appointment (which I had cleared my schedule for) before they bothered to let me know it was cancelled, after I had spoken to someone on the phone TWICE to confirm that I would be there. I'm shocked by the lack of professionalism, and there are many alternative, highly-rated dentists in the area to choose from. read more

How many of us can say we actually enjoy going to the dentist office? I use to feel that way until I started going to Morrison Dental Group ten years ago. Now, going to the dentist is like visiting friends. Everyone is so friendly. One of the things I love most is that they are not out to "get you" like you hear so often from dentist. They are not going to pressure you to get work done that isn't absolutely necessary. Also, they will be completely upfront on how much something will cost and how much your insurance will cover it before asking you to schedule the procedure; I appreciate that they let you make decisions for yourself and your family. read more

It is readily apparent that this dental practice makes a concerted effort to provide quality dental care and service. From your arrival until your departure, they are responsive and quick to start on time, answer any and all questions, and explain all issues so that you fully understand your alternatives. I started with this practice in June 2022 after moving back to Virginia, and I am really glad I chose this practice over many others. I came here in May of 2019 and my dentist told me she feared I had sleep apnoea. She began listing off all of the signs and symptoms and I met all of them. She emphasized for my health I should get checked. I left that day immediately and headed to a sleep doctor. He confirmed everything I learned here at this practice. Flash forward six months and I have a cpap machine and no longer am grinding my teeth in my sleep nor snoring. The sleep doctor was so impressed that my dentist was the first to diagnose me with my sleeping problem. I would recommend this practice to anyone. Everyone is a professional here at what they do and can help you with other underlying health issues you may not have even known you had. Some may call it a stretch but my dentist helped to save my life. I would have never known I was stopping breathing five times an hour for a minute at a time without her. read more

Went for my six month check up. Was worried about going out in the COVID world. Dr Morrison's office was following all precautions even to wiping down your insurance card. The best part of the visit was April, the dental hygienist. She is so kind, caring, and gentle in her work. The good news is that you can request her the next time. read more

Had a 6 month check up at Morrison dental group in NN and left really upset, 1st of all I only ended up there bc my old dentist (loved him ) ended up there and shortly retired and his whole staff left too and now I know why. I felt like I was in a assembly line,just a number and they rush you through everything and try to sell you everything I didnt need, new employees every time I had my 6 month check up and a very rude receptionist. I been going there almost 2 years and have to say, it's my last visit for sure. Will be looking for a new dentist w a caring staff. read more

OH GOOD LAW, I was held hostage to leave one star, that is not deserved. The front desk is rude, and argumentative about your insurance plan. My mother and I were both told we didn't have the insurance we said we did, even with plan numbers. I called both insurance companies, and verified I had not lost my mind. No apologies from the front desk. The girl that 'cleaned' my teeth was done in about 15 minutes. I ask if she was going to scale them too, along with the 'sand blasting' she said "OH NO, that's too much work." When she recommended a tooth paste to me I ask if it was ADA approved, and she wanted to know what ADA was. YIKES My 87 year old mother had a follow up on her partial plate and they left her / us sit in the waiting area for 30 minutes, when ask if she was going to be seen, she was rushed back to a room and left sit for 45 minutes, with no explanation. We get emergencies, we don't get being informed. We left without being seen, on our way out the door, they offered us a coupon for a free cup of coffee and a donut, for our inconvenience. My husband who has quarterly cleanings, went in for his, after getting a prior authorization, and we received a bill, that was new for us, so I called the dentist and was told this was standard. I called our insurance company and they told us, it should have been no charge because they were in net work, and they would contact the dentist. Two weeks later, my husband received a letter in the mail, stating he was being 'released from the practice'. WTH! I sent the letter back telling them we were releasing them from our family, listed the names and dates of birth. I just received a phone call asking to schedule my 87 year old mother for a cleaning, because she was overdue. I reminded them of their letter and my response. The girl hung up on me. If you're craving the fast food, thrift store of dentistry this is the place for you! If you want quality work with a friendly knowledgeable staff look elsewhere. read more

My husband and I go to the practice in Toano. Very friendly staff and doctors, very short wait time. What I like most is that this is the first dental practice I have been to in more than a decade that doesn't try to sell unnecessary procedures or take advantage of your insurance coverage allowance for the year--and they respect patients' wishes. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Avoid these people like the plague. They have come to Richmond buying the practice of dentists that are looking to retire (they bought one on the Northside and my dentist's practice in Chesterfield). I've never had a routine cleaning take so long. Usually in and out in 30 minutes for a regular cleaning. Was in there for an hour. Then my insurance EOB came back and the dentist that worked on me was not even in my dental plan network of providers, and they did not tell me that was the case before she worked on me. New front desk staff was rude and the folks in their Williamsburg office weren't much better. Our dentist stayed on for several months after they bought his practice so we waited for him to officially retire because we had been with him for years.
