You know I really love this cafe. They serve delicious coffee and offer a unique vibe. Seriously, the vibes go crazy in this place. The staff know how to make delicious coffee too. You know how some places make watery coffee, not this place. You're going to get what you asked for every single time. I guess that the price you pay for high quality coffee. It's very pricey. My go to is the Matcha Latte, hot or iced. Depending on my mood and time of day. They'll serve it to you in nice cup with a saucer underneath if you're getting it for there but don't worry they have to go cups as well. Now, this place is next to a grocery store and other fine establishments so be ready to find parking. Recommend read more

I am visiting my best friend who lives in Merced and this is her favorite coffee place in the area and I can see why! They have more menu items compared to other coffee places around the area. There are numerous parking spaces available around the shop, saving you an exhausting walk early in the morning. I walked into the shop and I was in love with the interior! The design was vivacious because of the countless plants that were scattered around the shop. If I were to describe the shop, I would say it has an airy and open vibe to it. Not only was the decor of the shop appealing, but also the employees as well! The guy who took my order was so sweet and welcoming. One of the employees even told me that they were opening up another coffee shop down the street which I'm excited to see! I ordered the Iced Matcha Latte with whole milk. As a major fan of matcha, this place is a great choice if you're ever in need of a good matcha latte! It was so creamy and delicious. The quality of the matcha was excellent from what I can taste; although, I wish it had more of a presence in the drink since it was faint. The whole milk overpowered the drink which I didn't approve of because the main ingredient that should stand out the most is the matcha. I highly recommend this as a way to beat the hot weather. I also had their Iced Rose Latte with soy and it was yummy as well. When I first received the drink, it was decorated with bits of flowers which I found quite cute. The Iced Rose Latte was yummy overall. It was faintly sweet, so if you like your drinks a bit sweetened then ask for more sweetener. The coffee was pretty good, I just wish they added more rose flavoring to it. Overall, great quality beans that reflect their drinks! I love coming by here with my best friend almost every morning while I'm here in Merced. It's a charming coffee place that I wish I was able to sit down and enjoy the warming atmosphere with my best friend. I would highly recommend this place if you're ever in need of good coffee. read more

The place itself is really nice, but the service NOT the best. The man working there, please be more welcoming and not so awkward. The cold brew tasted weird, it felt like vodka was put in there. Never have I tasted such a weird caffeine drink. I drank it anyways bc it was money I spent already. The place is great but cannot wait when better coffee places come into town, their better coffee will be probably the reason why this place will shut down. Starbucks coffee tastes better, and that is a chain. Let's be better read more

The only reason why I'm giving this place a 5 star review is for the lovely service I received from Luna! My friend and I love this place and I love coming when I'm in the area! Great coffee and lovely ambiance. But unfortunately due to bad staffing she was all alone and we waited about 45 minutes to place an order. Luna our barista was transparent about the wait and let us know the minute we walked in. TO THE OWNER PLEASE do better this is absolutely unacceptable. One person being staffed!! Lucky for the one person that was staffed she was super calm and collected. read more

They roast their own coffee here!!! The staff is super friendly and helpful! The manager gave me a recommendation and it was exactly what I wanted! I'm so picky and he helped me ! The latte art is beautiful! I had a latte with almond milk. This place is cool. They have a nice comfy couch, a lot of greenery and wooden stumps, and a cool vibe. They have live music on some Saturdays. I will definitely be back. I like this earthy vibe. It's very clean and functional. Oh ps. They make some home made rose syrup too! I didn't try it in anything but I will next time! read more

got off work and wanted a treat and asked the guy with glasses at the counter which he drink he preferred from two options because I only have come in a few times and he looked annoyed and he was like uh what do you mean do you want me to describe them to you with attitude, at that point I didn't care for his opinion I said never mind just wanted to see which you preferred, chose one then he asked me generic questions about the size and what not then gave me my total and I usually get a macaroon so I had to say can I order something else please. The drink was alright usually get milk substitute but forgot due to the interaction above. The syrup was very clearly sitting on the bottom of the drink was just okay idk maybe my experience affected my perception of it because usually love their stuff when I have tried something. Idk to the guy, you do work in costumer service just lie and say you like one over the other or something but yeah. I try to be kind and whatnot so I haven't ever had that kind of experience before. I'm sure I'll be back but maybe when he's not there. If he is I'll opt for the boba a few doors down. read more

I first visited ASIP in 2018 (I actually had my first date with my now husband there) at the downtown location. I loved the interior with all the plants and the cozy vibe. I tried the new location on G street and it was just as good as I remembered. Spacious enough to sit back and relax or get some work done. read more

Amazing coffee! Thought I was in San Francisco for a minute. (Minus the tall buildings) Serious top tier coffee at all levels. Very friendly as well (although I'd still give them my money even if they weren't) So cool to find this level of expertise in a small town. read more

When I first came here, on a recommendation from a Professor, I was curious about this coffee shop. I have heard good things and that it was a local small business and so I came on my trip during the fall of 2023. It was a very cozy atmosphere with a sense of student welcome type of air. I would see people drink coffee and have bakery products whilst working on stuff on their laptops or talking to each other. Now that I have become a semi-regular with my Americano, iced or hot, I think it deserves my review so the best thing I can do is put this down and hope it goes around. The only reason it is not any higher for me is because I like my student discounts and one day, I hope it has it. If for no other reason then to make so I don't burn a bigger hole in my wallet. TLDR; This place is very nice if you want to work with friends, have a sip of coffee and enjoy the vibe, or just meet some people. read more

We walked in, got greeted, but other than "welcome in" there was no acknowledgement. Waited for 20 minutes when the other employee arrived I asked how long a latte would take to make. They replied it would take a couple minutes but they would have to take 8 other orders behind us first. I explained that we had already been here for 20 minutes and the relief rudely replied "well it takes me 20 minutes to drive here". Although the place is amazing when it comes to taste, and ambiance, the service however was horrible. I hope the manager/ owner does see this. It was $22 dollars for 2 drinks and horrible service. Unacceptable behavior. read more

Being my first time in Merced I went to go try out coffee from Asip. The coffee definitely has a good coffee taste with the right coffee beans. The beans that they used is definitely better quality of Starbucks. If I was going to pay for coffee go I would go with Asip. Here's the coffee that I got. It was a coffee latte. I would give this place a 5/5 for their amazing Mexican Mocha drink. I found this place through Yelp during my drive to Yosemite and I decided to stop by to get my early morning caffeine fix. I came during the time that they just opened and it was pretty quiet at that time. The barista was very friendly and gave me recommendation on what drink to order. I am a big fan of having my drink with non-fat milk but the barista told me that the latte art would look good with whole milk and I gave it a shot -- the latte art was pretty! I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a place to stop by or just a place to chill. read more

Great local coffee shop within Merceds' quaint little downtown. I come here from time to time, usually to get some work or studying done. Love the ambiance and interior decorating of this cafe, very minimalist and has a variety of fresh plants. What I love about coming here is the amount of light that comes in from the wide window panels. One can catch up with a friend on the back end high tables that oversee downtown. Did I mention they have great service. Everytime I come and ask for a recommendation, the barista's usually list their personal favorites. When I came here on a Saturday, my friend asked what to get and he was suggested the Mexican Mocha. I got a Pumpkin Spice iced latte. I LOVED the container my drink came in, very unique. My friend's display looked beautiful and delicate. Both drinks were tasty and got us caffeinated pretty quickly! In an area where it seems the only option for coffee, lattes etc is a corporate entity... Asip Coffee Roasters Co., in downtown Merced next to the the Movie Theater, provides a breath of fresh air with an aroma of beyond the norm and run of the mill freshly brewed coffee, lattes and more. This cozy and quaint shop has a calm atmosphere. The seating along the storefront window allows for people watching while enjoying your favorite hot or cold beverage. My favorite is the mocha latte and what's not to like about the crafty, talented barista whipping up a nice little taste of latte art. I also ordered the coffee cake which was a great compliment to the latte. This is definitely my go to place for coffee and lattes. Get great coffee without a corporate cookie cutter feel. Ironically enough, Asip Coffee Roasters Co. now occupy a space left behind by those corporate folks and have turned it into a small corner of greatness. read more

If you ever find yourself in Merced, CA this is a must stop. They are located downtown next to a movie theater. The coffee shop is spacious, plants throughout and it has the coffee shop vibe. I consider myself a coffee snob and like to try local coffee places while on vacation, I was fortunate enough to find this one. Don't get me wrong I like the convenience of Starbucks but I love the taste of freshly brewed coffee and handcrafted drinks. I had the rose latte which was the perfect taste, not to bitter on the coffee taste and the right amount of sweet to it. My fiance had the cold brew which is perfect if you need to caffeine fix and need to be woken up right away. That one was a little too strong for me but maybe with some added creamer it would work for me. I'm glad I found this little gem. If I am able to stop by again I'll have to try something different from their menu. read more

from time of arrival to time of order was 20 minutes and we were the only ones in line! supposedly barista was "not feeling well" according to her relief and when I asked how long til my husbands and my lattes would be ready since it was already going on a half hour since we got there new barista who just got in said since it was a latte it would take a little longer, maybe 3-5 minutes. No acknowledgement from original barista beside a "welcome in." Good quality drinks but little to no customer service and $21 for two drinks leaves little desire to come back read more

Really great place! I had their pour over and it was perfect! They have yummy pastries too (i tried their hazelnut croissant). The ambiance is really nice. To be fair, i did go during Covid time, so i couldn't enjoy the full experience of drinking my coffee indoors. But it has really nice decorations and loved all the indoor plants. Service was a bit slow. There was only one person when i got there on a Saturday morning. I know it's not a drive-thru, but i felt bad for the person running everything solo and there being a long line. Overall, great experience, i would come again when in town. read more

Great survive..the clerk is very patient. Mocha is very nice..but I prefer no sugar.you can choose the ice and sugar.that is great！

Went in for the first time today. It was quite busy around 9am (everyone getting their morning coffee fix). Tables were full and there was a line of about 4 people at one point. There were only two employees working the counter and making drinks. The lady who took my order was kind and let me know what kind of pastries there were and flavors when asked. Ending up trying their apple cream puff, and it was amazing! I wanted a vanilla latte but unfortunately they were out so I went with Carmel instead. The coffee was great! I will definitely be back. The wait took about 15 minutes due to the rush, for two employees Id say they were hustling! I much rather support a small business than the chain coffee stores. My only recommendation is maybe add signage to the pastry case and prices. :) read more

This morning I needed a "quick pick me up" so I went the Grand Opening, the line was hanging out the door but move quickly than I thought, staff was very friendly, helpful, & energetic, atmosphere has a modern look w/ a good vibe. The menu is small & simple, espresso, teas, small baked goods, etc. Keep in mind ASIP's coffee different from "other competitors" type of coffees. I got the Americano, it's good, much needed because it's gonna be a crazy busy day for me, thanks ASIP!!! P.S. Pour over coffee method is truly my favorite way of drinking coffee! It has that rich and bold flavor taste, the aroma is amazing. That first sip is phenomenal although takes a few minutes to make remember your experiencing the true art of real coffee! read more

Every time we making a road time in California we try to find some random city to stop and try to get a cup of proper coffee. Merced was the stop this time around and this place was fantastic. It's a local spot which roasts its own coffee seemingly right in the middle of things in Merced. Spot also had a very clean and modern look to it which was very nice. I enjoyed their spice less mocha which was just as strong as I like it. Will absolutely come back next time around. read more

3.5/5 for coffee, 5/5 for atmosphere if hipster cafe is your vibe. I heard ASIP was the spot for espresso nerds, and it looks the part. The aesthetics of the interior are everything you'd hope for in a hipster cafe: wood tables and furnishings, plants and other natural accents, slightly retro tiles and machinery, artsy baristas and clientele. My experience was good enough but not amazing. The milk for my cappuccino was overly steamed, scalding my tongue and missing the natural sweetness that had been burned away. The foam wasn't microfoam but rather a thicker traditional foam. For its part, the espresso seemed quality, with pronounced flavors of chocolate fudge, more darkly roasted than most third-wave roasters, and quite good. The chocolate croissant was not my favorite - the chocolate inside was waxy and overly sweet, I suspect not a quality darker chocolate. The food selection is small and was mostly sold out by mid-afternoon, so I'll need to return to get a broader sense of their offerings. Overall, I came looking for a solid example of a third wave cappuccino and that isn't quite what I got, perhaps due to the barista's steaming technique. This does seem to be the best spot for "modern" espresso in Merced, and I want to try their other items before setting my opinion, so I will try it again. read more

Today marked my first visit to ASIP Coffee Roasters in downtown Merced. Upon entry, I was greeted by a masked barista that allowed me to squint at the menu for as long as I desired. After staring at it for a while, I asked for his recommendations, and ordered two iced mochas with almond milk. I was delighted to see on the menu that ASIP also offers oat and soy milk. While their barista loaded the espresso and packed it tightly, he engaged me in conversation asking about my day. Ironically, we started talking about music recording and software. Thus, what was initially a mundane coffee run in hopes to circumvent the COVID blues quickly became an uplifting (and musically inspiring) social encounter. Crazy, right? ASIPS, thank you for hiring baristas that acknowledge my humanity while simultaneously handcrafting dynamite sips. I'll be back. read more

Service and taste 0/5. Cashier was extremely rude and raised his voice at me & my friend when we were trying to order. He was confusing my order with my friends when she clearly had paid and finished her order. I calmly corrected him and he changed his attitude. Moreover, I've never been to a coffee shop that you had to strictly order off of the menu. I wasn't allowed to add any other flavors to my cold brew besides caramel, vanilla, and honey. Why? We can clearly see other flavors in other drinks. Coffee shops are usually very accommodating about building a drink. Please take a look at the picture of my drink and tell me if it looks even remotely good. It tasted a lot worse than it looks. Like somebody else said, it tasted like vodka. Expired vodka if that's even possible. Worst tasting cold brew ever. And I've drank tons of cold brews. read more

Great coffee and pastries! The decor something different than your usual coffee shop! Loved coming here.

This is probably one of my favorite coffee shops. I love coming here after work and on the weekends. Their coffee is GREAT. Every sip you take from every drink they have is perfection. It is very smooth and delicious. The atmosphere is great! The shop is very beautiful. The employees are very kind and patient. The owner is very nice and very passionate about coffee. He strives to make every cup of coffee he serves prefect. It is a very traditional coffee shop-VERY different from Starbucks. The drinks and sizes you see at Starbucks you won't find them here. If you are unsure what to get, you can always ask the cashier and they will kindly explain what every drink is and how it's made. Pretty good customer service; coffee dude even dropped by after a while and asked if our drinks were good. I thought that was a nice touch. I had the cold brew, which, unfortunately, I cannot recommend. I'm a coffee purist - I like rich, strong coffee. The cold brew here was so strong - to the point of tasting like the beans were burnt. I added cream, which I never do with cold brew, and then added even more cream before I could drink it. My daughter had an iced matcha and liked it. The place is clean, attractive and comfortable. I'll give them a try with a hot coffee next time. I'm confident that I will like it more. read more
