LOCATION: The location is steps away from the 7 train, and is surrounded by many enticing Asian restaurants and cafes. An LIRR station is also located nearby. CONCEPT: The concept is an Asian-style inexpensive hotel in center of Flushing, Queens, NYC. EXPERIENCE: I had decided to try taking an early morning direct flight out of LGA with an overnight stay the night before, at same total expense as departure day indirect flight from Connecticut's Bradley airport. I took trains to reach the hotel, which added time, but avoided parking fees and traffic. I appreciated the low cost of the hotel and service, but all the more the ability to be situated in a location surrounded by authentic Asian (mostly Chinese) restaurants at far lower prices than Manhattan. I enjoyed exploring two, and made note of others in the future. I could see spending a weekend here with husband just for the Chinese restaurants, cafes, and grocery stores! Breakfast is included and served in a glass enclosed dining room. Although Western options are offered, I appreciated the Congee with traditional toppings and a variety of filled steamed buns as part of the Asiatic Hotel experience. In the end this was a far more fun and flexible experience than taking a longer and potentially winter weather-impacted indirect flight to my destination. TIPS: Check out Hey Tea for Asian beverages and Nan Xiang for soup dumplings. I have bookmarked Chong Qing Lao Zao for hot pot on my next visit. We found this hotel while searching for last minute accommodations and I found my stay at Asiatic Hotel to be very comfortable. Very central location right in downtown Flushing, accessible by either the 7 train or the LIRR. Clean beds, toilet in good order, good water pressure (and hot water) for showering, affordable-- nothing fancy but all the basics needed to lay my head after a long day. Room: Room was a good size. Had a small closet with 4 hangers, table and chair, a hot water kettle, and some mugs. My biggest surprise was how comfortable the beds were to sleep on. It was just like Goldilocks. However, my room did not come with a refrigerator and a safe to put your valuables in so that's something to consider. Bathroom: I think they did their best to make bathroom size sustainable. Toilet paper rolls are under the sink so if you need to wipe, you may have to sit sideways to retrieve them. The hotel provided basic toiletries including toothbrushes and toothpaste, but I highly suggest using your own if any. My stay included complimentary breakfast which consist of a hybrid Chinese and Western continental offerings. As such, the breakfast may not accommodate dietary preferences and restrictions. Nothing extraordinary, but basic enough to get you to start your day. Of course if the breakfast there does not speak to you, plenty of food options within walking distance. One minor complaint no fault of the hotel at all: They do have signs posted throughout the hotel NOT to use any instant self-heating hot pot in the room since the heat will trigger a fire alarm and the fire dept will be dispatched to the hotel. Someone must have disregarded that notice one night which triggered fire alarms and woke me up (ugh). Clean, safe, comfortable hotel in the heart of Flushing Queens. Very conveniently located if you want to have easy access to Flushing Chinatown. Positives : Beds were comfortable although I would have been happier to have extra pillows. Room included a minifridge and safe. And they only service your room upon request. I actually prefer not to have staff in my room when I stay in a hotel. We can make up our own beds and straighten up. Continental breakfast included was decent. Good mix of asian and western foods. Staff was relatively pleasant and helpful. Negatives : Tiny ice machine located on 6th floor ONLY was barely working. They need to put a full size standing ice machine in the lobby. AC in room was barely working unless I cranked it to full blast at night time. And then it only decently cooled the bed closest to the AC unit. No designated unloading / loading area for guests arriving by car. You have to double park and have people honking at you and giving you angry looks. No free parking or pay parking and no discounted parking. Luckily Flushing Commons Parking Lot is close by. Open 24hrs, fenced surface lot allows IN and OUTS, very safe (next to the police station), pay by app and only $27/day. My fiancé and I recently stayed at this hotel during our stay in NYC, if your a fan of asian food like I am this is a great spot to stay, it puts you right in the middle of Chinatown Flushing (not to be confused with Manhattan Chinatown). You can literally walk everywhere and try several different restaurants,bakeries and boba spots.This hotel is conveniently located near the 7 line subway station which you can take all the way to Manhattan Brooklyn area in an easy 30 min subway ride. (depending on rush hour of course). This hotel is also like 15-20 mins from the Laguardia Airport, so you will hear planes and if you have a window you will see them and it may look like they are pretty close but honestly I enjoyed looking out the window at the city at night. We were able to book a king size bed. Room was clean. Just weird that all the lights switch is kinda low compared to other places. They offer breakfast in the morning. Room was nice and clean. plus they do have the light on the table that is wireless charge so whoever forget the charge for their phone, they can use it. although some stain on the bedsheet but it didnt bother us much. The ice machine was super low that my son one year old and half can open and get it. We do have to pay for parking but for 3 day around 50 dollars plus tip is not bad. Weird thing about it was the moment they bring our car around, they ask tip immediately that make me feel so forceful. It not like we not gonna tip, i had the tip ready and was gonna hand it to him but didn't get the chance to do volunteer do it. I do feel uncomfortable with the lady who take care of the breakfast area. She constantly looking at us like we do something wrong even though we just walk in. she even approached and tell me "NO FOOD OUTSIDE". First of all, i came in to check the food see what they have and they had rice porridge so i thought getting that for my son and boiling egg for him. We were gonna eat quick and go, don't plan to bring it outside. it will be cold and there is no microwave. Second, sign was in bright color so i read it and know about it. Third, i saw some people just grab and go she said nothing to them mean while she walked up to me and point out the sign to me. She made me feel like I'm a theft or something so uncomfortable that i decided not even bother to go back on the next day. Again breakfast not even expensive food ( cereal, juice, banana, cupcake, rice porridge, bagel, and bun) if they can so stinchy for people to take up to their room or outside might as well don't offer. I would absolutely come back to this hotel again if I am in New York. The price here is really reasonable. I came here for my graduation and stayed for 2 nights. I originally had booked the room for 1 bed but then a friend decided to come last minute and I had to ask if it was possible for a rollaway bed, but the employee at the front said they don't have those since the room is small. But then he was able to accommodate and find us a room with 2 beds for no extra charge. Really good customer service. Also everything in the room was very clean. They also have toothbrushes and toothpaste in the bathroom as well. read more

I only have 2 complaints: 1. The toilet is SMALL and low pressure flush I have a big bottom and when I sat down only 3/4 of my bottom was on the seat. The other part just sagging off the seat. Basically I had to do the awkward standing squat to do number 2 for a week. If you wipe more than 3 times you will clog the toilet so make sure you flush often holding down the handle until complete flush or else it will half a** flush and nothing goes down. It's very low pressure like 1 cup water flush. 2. The front office wouldn't mail my vacation post cards unlike the American hotels I stayed at in NY so I had to walk 2 blocks to find a public mailbox Everything else was good. The room look larger than internet pictures and most importantly everything is clean. I did not find bed bugs and did not itch while sleeping so I give them good rating for cleanliness and the staff does good job of cleaning my room every day so I tipped them well. read more

Asiatic Hotel is located in a very convenient area of busy Flushing, New York. There are many restaurants and stores all within walking distance of this hotel, and they are happy to help you call for ride services to airports, or other places. The lobby is bright, clean, and very spacious. The only thing I'd change about the lobby is the amount of seating. There's always people sitting in the lobby, and it would be nice if there were more seats. Rooms are well kept and clean as well. Although there aren't too many amenities, it's still a pretty comfortable hotel away from home. The only thing I think was odd was the date written on the back of the shampoo and body wash...it says 2012 and I'm assuming it's the date it was made???? I doubt it expires...does it?! The housekeepers are not fluent in English....at all. I asked for extra towels and soap, and she had no idea what I was saying before I finally switched over to Chinese. Large windows to peer out at NY was also a plus. Since this hotel is right by LaGuardia Airport, you are sure to hear the sounds of airplanes flying low and close to your room. If you are on a certain side of the hotel, you are sure to see a few airplanes fly pretty close to your window (it kind of scared me the first couple of times). If you go to their website, www.asiatichotelnyc.com, you get a nice 360 degree look at all of their room types (they literally look just like that...nice, clean, and comfortable!) There's a complimentary continental breakfast from 7am-10am. It's alright for a hotel complimentary breakfast. Toast, cereal, porridge, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, bagels, breads, fruits, coffee, waffles, etc. Nothing spectacular, but again, if you walk right out of the hotel, you're surrounded by restaurants and bakeries, and even a really yummy food court just a few blocks away...all walking distance! Finally, we get complimentary SLIPPERS! They're actually pretty bad quality, but...FREE SLIPPERS! The plane we took didn't even give us peanuts!!! So why only 4 stars? 1. I'm not sure if this is common in New York, but do hotels just not have parking spaces for hotel guests here? I think guests either have to get taxied here, or park on the streets. 2. Where's the gym? (Not that we all jump at the chance to working out when we're traveling.) 3. Where's the pool? (I don't usually use a pool at a hotel, but it's still nice to know there's a pool. If you look, there are rooms with jacuzzis, but still...haha!) 4. People who are light sleepers might not be able to sleep with all the airplane sounds. Several of my friends booked rooms through this hotel for a weekend conference. The hotel is very affordable, especially if you're putting 4+ people into one room. However, the rooms are much smaller than traditional hotels, and they do not have as many amenities. Fortunately, it is located near various restaurants and shops in Flushing. They also provide complimentary breakfast, which serves a fusion of Chinese and American breakfast items. The reason for my critical review is because of the service. Upon arrival, they had to check our identification to ensure that the room was ours, but somehow lost our paperwork in the process. Thus, we had to redo all of the forms, which included getting my friend's parent's identification faxed over. Moreover, once we requested more pillows, we were questioned about the amount of people we were fitting in the room, and our request was denied. When we asked the front desk for if they had any toiletries, they seemed reluctant to help us. Despite this, the room was clean and was large enough for us to get through the weekend. If you're looking for an affordable hotel, Asiatic is definitely an option, but you get what you're paying for. read more

Misleading w/ Extra Expenses, A Bit Rude With Trust Issues So don't get me wrong this hotel is nice for what it is and for its cost, its extremely reasonable. But there are a few things you need to be ready for and to know about ahead of time otherwise you might be surprised at some hidden expenses. When booking this hotel through hotels.com I choose the filters option to find features and amenities that I prefer and find important. Knowing this was in NY in Queens, I knew parking may be tricky. I chose parking as a filter and in doing so this hotel advertises itself with a dedicated parking garage. I chose this hotel and paid about $20 more per night compared to other hotels I was considering because of this alone, upon arrival we call because the hotel does not have the garage attached to it, the person who answers did not speak good english which is fine for where we booked (Chinatown in Flushing) this was expected and understood. My wife went inside to check us in while I waited outside for her also to get the directions on parking. The front desk person advised her where the garage was which was literally around the corner, about 2 seconds away, nice and convenient, A + for this and the front desk person said they validate the parking which is what we expected. I go and pull in the parking garage and they have a booth with a valet station, again no english speaking and after some confusing back and forth they do not give you the option to self park your car. This could have been a big issue because we had valuables in the car after visiting family for a birthday party out on Long Island but I could not lug everything to the room with me and back, it just was not feasible. I was just going to have to put my trust in this valet parking operation. I took the ticket given to me walked back to the hotel and the front desk person validated the ticket for me nice and simple, we stayed over one night and checked out the next morning. The room was clean and everything was in god working order, except the safe which was not a big deal wince we were only staying overnight. The safe was just loose on top of the closet, it actually worked out nice as we placed it on its side as a end table for one of the bed and used it to charge our phone on. Also the TV had a glitch at one point but it came back on with a re-boot of the system by unplugging the tv/cable box outlets and replugging. The checkout process was a bit odd, we go down to the lobby give our key to the front desk and say checking out no receipt needed, and they say okay hold on one second. They call up to the maid or security to do a room check while we stand there like we had possibly ransacked the room and were going to make a run for it, mind you they took our card when we checked in and held $100 as a deposit already just in case for this reason. BTW which still shows as a pending charge on my credit card statement as of today 6/19/21 and we stayed there on 5/28/21, most holds drop off after 7 days so I don't know what the deal is with this. So after they see the room is in the same shape it was when we checked in, they allow us to leave the lobby and go on our way to the parking garage to pick up our car. We get there and go to the window I hand the gentleman my validated ticket, and he says $20 please, I say why isn't it validated from the hotel? he says yes. Overnight parking $25, hotel validates $5, you pay $20. So the hotel only validates $5 off the parking with their "dedicated parking garage" and you might as well tack another surprise $20 onto each night you plan to stay at this hotel if you park here. Oh and the garage only accepts cash only and they do not have an ATM on site, luckily we had $20 cash on us which is rare nowadays. As the gentlemen hand me my keys he says tip, even though I felt shaken down already for the $20 by the hotel I gave the $5 because its not his fault the hotel advertising is shady but it was a ballsy way to ask for a tip. He didn't even give me a chance to consider giving him one on my own, I guess he is used to getting stiffed. On the plus side the valet people were honorable, all the valuables I left inside were still still there safe and sound so the valet team on that night/next morning I was there were on the up and up and all the change in my car cup holder was left alone, nothing in my car was messed with which was nice. In summary, if you stay here expect to not be able to communicate in english with anyone at the hotel or the parking garage, expect to pay extra each night by about $20 at the hotel due to the garage validation by the hotel being only $5 per night, expect to not be trusted by the hotel staff, upon check out and have cash on hand to pay for the parking garage bill and to tip the valet who will straight up ask for his tip. read more

I booked this hotel for the weekend stay while attending a wedding in the Flushing area. I didn't quite know what to expect being that it was a "2-star" hotel but had a lot of good reviews. And overall I would say for the value and location, this hotel was worth it. The check in process was quick, they do hold $100 deposit but many hotels do that (not sure why so many people complain about that) since the charge normally doesn't hit your statement as long as you don't destroy the place. But anyway, the hotel is fairly small and a little dim for my liking, but the room overall was clean, the bed was comfortable, the sheets were clean along with the bathroom. It won't be a hotel you add to your Instagram feed by any account, but it does it's job. If you want a Starbucks in the lobby and a rooftop bar then this is not your spot. I think more importantly, the hotel doesn't try to be "more" than it is... Btw, there is a hotel in the area does satisfy both of those requirements but their staff was sooo green, it was turn off and not worth the extra cost. The hotel offers a free breakfast that is very basic. We stopped by briefly for a cup of juice and to check out the offerings, there's cereal, some bread/bagels and some steam buns done Asian style. But if anything you're doing your stomach and taste buds a huge disservice if you're eating at this hotel breakfast when you're in arguably located in the Chinese/Taiwanese food Mecca of the US (or at least NYC). The hotel is conveniently located to so many different places to eat, drink and snack on, all within a 2-3 block radius. The 7 train Main St Flushing subway station is about 3 blocks away and maybe 15 min away from LaGuardia airport. I booked this hotel online not really knowing what to expect. I looked at different reviews and everyone seemed to enjoy it. I booked the Junior Suite with the Jacuzzi and I stayed there 3 nights in all. Let me tell you, this was probably the best hotel stay I have ever had. The room was spacious (not a ton of storage space, but I didn't need to make use of it so it did not bother me) and the the Jacuzzi was awesome. I had requested a refrigerator and a microwave and was provided with both. The view was amazing, I stayed on the 5th floor the first night and then the 8th floor the last two nights. There were places to eat everywhere you turned and the staff was EXTREMELY courteous and helpful. They have continental breakfast between 7:00-10:00am, but make sure you get there before 10 or the door will be closed and you won't be allowed to enter. As far as the breakfast there is a great selection. Cereal, toast, bagels, pastries, hard boiled eggs, waffles, and other things that I did not explore. The concierges are more than happy to call you a ride and they are extremely nice and patient. The only thing that I would suggest is make sure that, if you walk the short distance to a deli or gas station, you bring back some snack foods because they do not have a good vending machine (although they do have a drink one). The bed is also slightly uncomfortable, but this is probably due to the fact that I love super soft beds. The blankets and pillows definitely make up for it though! I will definitely make it a point to stay here again next time I come:) oh and p.s for all you smokers out there...they do NOT allow smoking in the rooms and if you do (they check the rooms before you leave) you will be charged $250. In general you get what you paid, compare to other hotels with equal rates nearby, the Asiatic is fair enough. We had a double beds room, the size of the room is big enough unless you have large piece of luggage. The closest is 'mini',but they have a safe on the top of the closet. After COB time you will have to go to the lobby to 'pick up' what you need, because the front desk staff play as house keeper. The breakfast is okay which you will have many choice like pound cake, bum, bread, oat meal, porridge, orange juice, coffee, milk and boiled eggs etc. As you pay $100ish you would just get things like this in Flushing I assume. read more

When I came to Flushing for three days to visit a friend, the Asiatic made a great home base. The rooms were clean, quiet, and comfortable, and the staff were very quick and very pleasant. I enjoyed the Asiatic's take on their free continental breakfast - Fresh Waffles, assorted pastries, but also Congee, with a selection of relishes and hard boiled eggs. I guess you get what you pay for for a hotel in that area. I'm pretty sure the outlets should be the same size in Chicago as they are in NY but why was my cellphone charging cord falling out? I had to hold up my charger with my suitcase in order to charge my cellphone because it didn't fit. You know, being on vacation and struggling to have your phone charged can really put a person in a bad mood. Not to mention, why were most of the outlets in my room not working? And why was the water cold? Thank you for ruining my mornings with cold showers. BTW, we called for more towels and they told us to go downstairs to the receptionist. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. Room was tiny and did not have an iron or ironing board unlike every other hotel I've been to. They only provided one little soap in the bathroom. Location is extremely congested and more crowded than most Queens neighborhoods. If you are not used to hunting for parallel parking in congested and narrow City streets, then this isn't for you. Just returned from 6 night stay at Asiatic Hotel. Everything was perfect. I requested a microwave and refrigerator - they were already in the room when I arrived. Room was very clean. Bed, sheets, curtains, bathroom, all perfectly clean. And, I especially like the blond wood flooring instead of carpet. WiFi was free, in the room, and strong connection. Everything in this hotel is clean and everything works. The Asiatic Hotel is on a side street running between Main St. and Prince St. in Flushing. The side street, 37th Ave., is dark and a little intimidating. But it is only a minute or so walk from either Main St. or Prince St., so I did not find this a problem. Maybe for a single woman returning late at night, this would be a worry. But for any couple or guy, I think it is fine. My daughter is 20. I would let her stay her alone, but I would tell her to be careful on the last minute of her walk into the Asiatic. The front desk people arranged a car to take me to LaGuardia Airport at the end of my stay, $15. The car was a perfectly clean Toyota van. The car was 5 minutes early. The car, like everything else about the Asiatic Hotel, was perfect. I am a white guy, but I love Asian food. The meals I had in Flushing were inexpensive and delicious. Flushing is like being in Hong Kong. Even at midnight, there are lots of restaurants open. For me, eating here was heaven. The subway (7 line) takes about 40 minutes to get from Flushing to Grand Central Station, maybe 30 on the express (7 Line) but the express does not run at many times (maybe only rush hours). I also took the LIRR commuter train from Flushing Station to Penn Station. This is fast, 17 minutes, costs $7.50 off peak one way. The LIRR train makes only one stop between Flushing and Penn Station. The Flushing LIRR station is a little hard to find. It is about one block away from the Subway station, but the LIRR train station is only a set of stairs leading up to the train track with a ticket machine at the bottom of the stairs. Usually, I stay at big brand-name hotels (Marriott, Sheraton, Hilton, etc.) so I was a little hesitant about staying at the Asiatic. But, I trusted the many good Yelp reviews, and the Yelpers were right. THIS IS A GREAT HOTEL. read more

You won't know until you have encountered an issue. Everything was fine for two days until we had to deal with a noise issue. The front desk decided to put these teenagers on the floor as ours--pretty much our room was surrounded by them. At 3am in the morning, our room neighbors decided to get drunk. They started screaming, slamming doors, bouncing off walls. We called front desk to complained about the noise at 4am. We asked to be moved but we were denied. They did call those guests to ask them to stop, but it lasted until 4:30 or so. The following morning we came down asked to be switched room. I was expecting an apology and perhaps a special accommodation for the inconvenience, but none of that because our room is already "discounted." She did try to move us to another room, which we moved. Given the inconvenience that was caused, I just feel that the front desk or management could have done more if they are customer service oriented. Continental breakfast comes with the same thing everyday. Plain congee, some Asian toppings for it, two types of cereals, some bread, coffee, milk. The lady who works in this breakfast room does not know English and is not very friendly. I guess she can't say or do much not knowing English. Their rooms are decent in size and are pretty new. We had a great experience at this Hotel! Would recommend it and we will be back when we go to the US Open tennis again. The staff at the front desk was so very helpful and suggested restaurants for us and explained how to get to the subway, which was so close and only one stop to the Open which was so convenient and they got us a fast ride to the airport also! Room was clean and had a teapot and tea to enjoy! Right in the heart of Flushing-felt very safe walking the streets and enjoying the Chinatown of Queens! Thanks for everything! The hotel looks clean, but my boyfriend and I both got bite by some unknown bugs during the night. However, My friend, who sleep next to us, was totally fine. She didn't get any bite, and she actually think everything was great and comfortable. Now, I have a bigger problem!!!! It seems like I also bought those bugs to my own house. My mom also got bit after she sit on my bed. Now, I have to clean my house all over again. read more

A great hotel for the price! Conveniently located a few minutes away from the 7 subway line, but also on a quiet side street. We lived in the second floor and were not disturbed be street noises at all. The check in was efficient, and the breakfast staff was friendly. This hotel is clean and well priced. The front desk agents, cleaning staff, and breakfast attendants are very friendly and attentive. The hotel includes the room, complimentary breakfast, wifi, and toiletries. My fiance and I stayed for a week in a double twin bedroom that included a small desk, chair, and small closet. There is a unit to turn on the heater or air conditioner. The breakfast included fruit, beverages, assorted steam buns, congee, and a couple other items. If you would like your room to be made, then turn the "do not disturb" sign over. The hotel is conveniently located near many restaurants and the 7 line subway station (which can take you directly to Times Square and other tourist attractions). The only thing that might bother some is the noise; you can occasionally hear neighbors above you or in the hall way and the cars honking (but this is New York in general). Absolutely the best hotel I ever been in ! I never though a hotel like this would be so wonderful in queens ! I loved it and so did my BF . We stayed for one night and we didn't want to go back home ! The pillows the beds the sheets are so comfy and warm . We got a junior suite it was only $125 with free breakfast !!( got a 15% off coupon online ) the staff are welcoming everything is so clean. The checking out is my favorite it's until 12 pm . The tv was nice the couch I just have nothing negative to say about my stay at this hotel . I'm in shock and this hotel will see me again because it's just so perfect ! And of course , the pricing compared to other hotels around the city the suites are so expensive ! This wasn't a huge suite but it was just perfect for a couple. We were celebrating our 6 year anniversary after a wonderful dinner date . The room has so many lights where you can turn and off at your choice . They also have a thing where you can boil your water and do yourself some coffee . Just go lolz !! read more

This was a very convenient location to good food and the transit system. The rooms and bathrooms are a bit small. I cannot understand why the towel racks with all the clean towels are in the shower or the lack of hanging rods. The rooms were clean, however, and the hotel staff is accommodating. We asked for a fridge in our room and they provided that for us. The complimentary breakfast was a miss for me. I was excited to see they had congee, but it was tasteless and diluted. The lady that worked at the breakfast room just kept adding water to the congee in the rice cooker when the volume was getting low. They also had some pastries, relishes for the congee, hard boiled eggs and cereal. This hotel does not have any amenities, but it does offer a decent price. Overall, if you are here for a quick stay, it does the job. read more

I have revised my review as the manager personally contacted me and offered a full refund of our stay due to the noise coming from our neighbors. I would still never stay at this hotel again but I appreciate their customer service. read more
