I visited here last friday with my partner and her visiting parents. I have, been once before as a party of three.
Simply,I like this restaurant for a couple of reasons:
1/. The staff are excellent: polite, very attentive yet unobtrusive, friendly and welcoming.
2/. The variety of good indian and thai food, with good ingredients.
What they're doing isn't ground-breaking. The curries are not the finest I've ever had, but they are damn good. The music is a painful cd of 80's floor killers which always seems to open with Rick Astley. There are air fresheners that fire every 30 minutes. The decor is brash and modern.
But, for all those little things, I like it. Those quirks become endearing, because the experience is so good. Twice I have asked for a recommendation for a main curry, and twice I have been offered a unique regional dish (not on the menu) that I have been very pleased with. The chef always makes a point of coming out to greet at the end of the meal. They offer a spirit each 'on-the-house' with the bill (and didn't flinch when I asked for their single-malt).
Asiana Spice, to our group, definitely represented excellent value-for-money and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as a darn fine town curry-house. I give it three-stars for that reason. read more
