Pau is the small square loaf of bread so well known in Mumbai and likely getting its name from Portuguese, reflecting Mumbai's Portuguese heritage. Only food establishments with an authentic Mumbaikar pedigree seem to get the Vada Pau and Pau Bhaji right. However, Thakers is a great find and in close proximity to a Sakoni (perhaps the longest chaat serving restaurant in London going back to its original Wembly location) and a few other great Indian restaurants. Besides Hounslow is easier to get to being on the Picadilly line just before Heathrow. If you like medium ones, Moysore and Dumpuk are amazing! The naan is good, the rice is good, the ambience lovely, with beautiful frescos on the walls and soft spotlights above each table creating a unique atmosphere. And the service is consistently good! I've been here on a date, with colleagues, with friends, and we all keep coming back. It's by far one of the best indian restaurants I have been to, and I would recommend you stop by as well. They do take-away and delivery (take-away saves you 10%) and are a great place to get food from on a lazy weekday evening if you'd rather stay in with a movie.
