My South Korean friend wanted to take me (and friends) for proper Korean food. While I love trying new foods, I draw the line at cooking it myself at a "table grill", so he recommended this place. We went for lunch, let him guide the way, and ate everything family style (they serve individual platters, but he wanted us to have the full Korean experience and be able to sample many things too!) One of my friends told me about Asiana Garden Restaurant, and I decided to make the trip because I was craving authentic Korean cuisine. The parking lot is shared with other businesses in the strip (with Asiana Market, a Korean grocery store, located at the far left). There are plenty of spaces available in the private lot. Upon entering the restaurant, the main hostess, who may also be the owner, is straight ahead. There are approximately 12 tables in the main dining room, along with a larger room to the left that offers additional seating. FOOD: 1. Pork Dupbap Lunch Special (4/5): If you've tried beef bulgogi, this is similar but made with spiced pork. You really can't go wrong with this dish. 2. Spicy Rice Cake (Tteokbokki, 4/5): I'm usually picky with tteokbokki because many restaurants make it too sweet or lacking in flavor. This version was one of the better restaurant renditions I've had. A classic Korean street and comfort food, it consists of spicy-sweet rice cakes with fish cake, cabbage, and scallions. I would definitely order this again. Best shared between 2-3 people. 3. Seafood Soon Dubu (Soft Tofu Stew, 4/5): A spicy, well-seasoned stew made with silky soft tofu, vegetables, and seafood. This is especially comforting during the cold winter season. I highly recommend ordering one of the soups when it's cold out. The portion was generous, as I took half home. 4. Yangnyeom Korean Fried Chicken (New KFC; not on the original menu, 3/5): Ten pieces of boneless chicken served with pickled daikon radish. The sauce was a sweet chili blend. While flavorful, it lacked the extra crispiness typically found in Korean fried chicken. 5. Seafood Pancake (Haemul Pajeon, 4/5): One of our favorites. This version featured shrimp and squid, with a crispy exterior and a soft interior. It was served hot with a tangy dipping sauce made from soy sauce and rice vinegar. Best shared between 2-3 people. 6. Kimchi Fried Rice (3/5): A popular dish made with kimchi, rice, and diced vegetables, often with meat such as Spam. This version did not include meat but was topped with a runny egg for protein and garnished with dried seaweed flakes. Best shared between 2-3 people. 7. Japchae (Stir-Fried Glass Noodles, 3/5): A popular Korean appetizer, often served as a side dish (banchan). Typically stir-fried with vegetables and beef, this version was served in a slightly sweet broth, which differed from the traditional preparation. Best shared between 2-3 people. Unbelievably slow! My wife waited two hours for her food and then finally left when they didn't bring the food or the to go order she ordered two hours previous know she was told they were too busy. My children showed up A few minutes after she got there and the sat there for 2 1/2 hours and waited .Finally the waitress came over and said "we're closed in the kitchen we're not cooking anymore" and just left them sitting there. I don't think these people want to be in business. If I could give them zero stars I would. I don't take giving people bad ratings lightly. But this was unbelievable. Not bad Daejin Bulgogi. I like mine more grilled, this was a bit "mushy" but taste was good. I liked how the lunch box comes with the soup, dumplings, kimchi and salad. Pretty filling. Thought more like. 3.5 star but since I can't do that I rounded up for good service. Only negative is the tea must have cost 3.50 as the total bill was $13.00. Hole in the wall Korean restaurant, but was amazing! Clean and the ajjumas working were friendly. Everything pictured was around $40 for two people and we definitely got to-go boxes! Radish kimchi was the bomb and nothing was overly spicy for those not able to take spice well. We tried DWJ on Highland recently as well, but this was our favorite of the two. If you are from Memphis, you know that we literally only have 2 Korean restaurants and they are about 10 mins from each other. With that said Asiana Garden is my quick go to korean restaurant in Memphis. Its also closer to work for me. I usually get the lunch specials that range from $5-$10, it can be a box meal or a bowl meal. I tend to get the box meal since it come with 2 fried dumplings(mandu), salad, white rice, 2 side dishes and a bowl of cabbage soup. They've added the kal-bi now to their lunch menu and it goes for 9.99 now. Its pretty good and that is my go to dish at lunch times. For dinner however, i've gone on several occasions where it is packed and they would actually refuse service since they do not have the staffing to accommodate i guess. We've had several big parties here before using both their party rooms in the back where both have karaoke available or you can actually plug in your phone and play your own music. The service is mediocre, food is ok as i always see 2 ladies running around during the day time. At night time they have an additional 2 workers i believe. The only weird thing my coworker pointed out was if you paid by cash they would automatically add like 10-15% tip to it but if you paid by credit card they wouldn't since you had a space to write the tip in. I dunno, go figure. Overall my rating was a 3 for the mediocre food and service to the weird way they would charge you whether you paid by cash or card. read more

Came here with the hubby to get a nice Korean BBQ dinner. We are in town on vacation and saw this place after we went to the Asian market and thought why not. Many cities are different when it comes to their Korean BBQ and this place was more than satisfying!! We got bulgogi and thin sliced beef along with some kimchi fried rice. It was just the two of us so we had plenty of leftovers to bring home. Unfortunately, the beef was served with a lot of fat, but they gave us such large servings for two people that we felt like there really wasn't much to complain about. The provided us with plenty of banchon which was delicious with our BBQ. The kimchi fried rice also had pork in it and had the right amount of flavors in it.
