I have loved Asian Star since I went to college in Tahlequah over 10 years ago. It is classic big portions take out style American Chinese food. And they have really great sushi. It's better than any other Asian restaurants in Tahlequah by far. The same family have worked there forever, and they are so friendly and efficient. It's looked the same inside forever too. I live near Tahlequah instead of Tulsa now. Believe me when I say, I found my new favorite Asian restaurant. It's a small building sitting off the main road in to town. The staff are very kind. The food is delicious and it is a broad menu. They even have Sushi. If you're in the area and you need a steaming platter of fried dumplings, this is the place. The Moo Goo Gai Pan is chocked full of tender chicken and vegetables. There are plenty of vegan and steamed options for anyone watching what they eat. I've been coming here for ten years and I find that the food has been consistent and has not dropped in quality. I love this place! I eat there almost every week. The only reason I don't eat there every week, is because I simply cannot afford it. And not because they are expensive but because of health issues, I cannot work full-time. I love the Crab Rangoon (it is simply the best in Tahlequah), the egg drop soup, the baby clam soup, the shrimp or chicken with snow peas.They make the best fried chicken wings, that you will not find on the menu. The list goes on. My absolute favorite is the Shrimp Tempura. I get it every time, without fail, either as a dinner or as an appetizer. It is so very good! The staff had never been anything but kind to me. There is no other restaurant in Tahlequah that I would want to eat at every week. I wish I could afford to eat there a few times a week. I have been eating at the Tahlequah Asian Star for over 6 years now. The food is great and they have friendly staff. They have good sized portions and they are the only Chinese/Japanese restaurant in town that hasn't given my family food poisoning. Only give 4 stars because several times when I have ordered my sushi combo they've forgotten to include my soup and salad which comes with the meal. Overall I recommend this restaurant. read more

Every time I have come here it has taken an exorbitant amount of time to get my food and it's never busy so I don't understand why. The last time I came here, we got take out. There was a bug in my rice. I called to complain and the management blamed me and said it must've come from my house. Wow! One of the rudest encounters I have ever had. Stay away from this place. Sushi here is overall very good. The yellowtail wasn't great, and the tuna was just okay, but the salmon was excellent. The cuts of fish in the nigiri are very large, as are the rolls, and everything is very reasonably priced. I would definitely eat here again. read more

I ordered lemon chicken as take-out, and the chicken I received was actually rancid. You couldn't tell from looking at it, as it was battered and fried. I noticed as soon as I bit into the first piece that the chicken had gone bad. I was able to spit it out quickly and dump the whole order in the garbage, but it's scary to think that a restaurant would serve spoiled chicken. I've never been back there since. read more

I used to love this restaurant. However it hasn't been as good quality with the food or customer service lately. Today I ordered my usual which normally comes out to 16 dollars and some change. Which is what they told me over the phone. When I went to the drive through window they said it was 23 dollars. I was a little confused but gave her my card anyways along with a 5 because I only had 20 dollars on my card. Which I just checked at the atm to make sure I had enough. Well she came back with my card saying I only had 17 dollars on my card and that the total was 25 for the order. I was obviously frustrated and had her take the 17 off my card (The one the atm said had 20 dollars on) and had my mom cover the rest on her card. I'm just confused how it went from one price to two different prices. Not to mention when I got my food my sushi was falling apart and barely edible. I'm genuinely upset because this was one of my favorite places and now I have to find a new place to go eat. Just don't waste your time because Asian star has gone to crap. read more
