I really want to like Asian Gourmet, but every time I've gotten takeout, it hasn't been the experience I expected. Most recently, I got General Tso's chicken and an egg roll. The chicken tasted as I would expect, and the portion size was large enough for me to easily make it two meals. It could have used a lot more sauce, though, as some pieces were on the drier side. Instead of fried rice, it came with a big container of plain, sticky white rice. Given that the chicken was lacking sauce, I had to eat the rice plain, which wasn't all that enjoyable. Some sort of fried rice would have brought some flavor to the party rather than just starch. The egg roll was a pretty big letdown, too. Normally, you can bite into one and see and taste that there is stuff inside. Mine was the opposite, and looked and tasted like it was 100% just wrapper. The service was decent and fairly quick, even on a busy night, so that, along with the generous portion size of the chicken, are the only reason for three stars. read more

I had sesame chicken, salad with Ginger dressing and Avacado, egg rolls, brown rice, and Goyoza dumplings (these are filled with pork), and a Salmon roll- had to throw in the sushi! Overall, I had an excellent time out with great conversation and a meal to match! We are in the area from Christmas. While most places closed, they remained open. With the low star reviews, I really didn't expect much at all. We ordered the Mongolian beef, and a few sushi rolls. I have to say, it is A LOT better than I thought! The Mongolian Beef is a bit on the sweet side for me, but it was still very flavorful and tender. And the sushi rolls were great! Better than some places in Boston. The basic rolls like eel avocado, spicy tuna, etc are only $5! We were very happy to give this place a chance. While my pad Thai was quite tasty and seemed well-prepared with all the extras added onto it, my friends Udon had a very bland broth. The noodles were good, the vegetable quality was good but the soup just lacked flavor. Both items had generous servings. Atmosphere was just 'ok' as the floors were in bad need of resurfacing and decor was combo asian/american modern. And no music. The boneless spare ribs are juicy and tender, not over cooked like many Asian places. My one year olds favorite are the pork potstickers/dumplings. She'll eat an order or two by herself. I ordered take out here and it was terrible. The " fried rice ". was not only unseasoned and bland but also had large chunks of raw white onion in it. The fried rice also clearly had canned carrots in it. The mushu chicken smelled terrible and had that old refrigerator taste to it like it had been cooked weeks ago and put into the fridge and re-heated. Also the hostess broke a water glass on the floor and didn't clean it up and her and customers slipped and a customer wound up cleaning it up themselves. The sesame chicken was crispy and all around awesome. The crab ragoon were star shaped which gets huge points from me, the moon shaped ones don't have as much filling... We loved the rolls we tried and the wasabe had lots of kick. We left extremely full and can't wait to go back. The menu is super long and is a fusion of Thai, sushi and Chinese dishes. I say at the sushi bar and ordered a golden dream roll. The roll was pretty good, everything tasted fresh, but the rice wasn't that sticky. The sushi chef was nice but didn't really speak English, which I usually like to talk with him while he makes my rolls. I also ordered the chicken teriyaki lunch plate. First came the miso soup, which was normal, chunks of tofu and seaweed. The salad also came and it did have a lot of the dressing, however I thought it was very good. The plate then came and had an egg roll, which was okay, three small dumpling which were very good sitting in their sauce. The chicken was well cooked and the sauce was good, it was servers on top of sliced onions, which is really different, I would expect rice. You know the sushi isn't good when you have someone saying that the sushi in Missouri is much better. Neither of my kids cared for their sushi rolls, which is sad because they love sushi.
