Light early dinner w mi madre. Sharing appetizers. The hot and sour soup is phenomenal. Rich, full of complex but not overwhelmingly flavors, and just a little kick. Eggrolls are delicious, but huge. You know, for eggrolls. I've had burritos that weren't much bigger. The fried wantons were absolute perfection. Fried just long enough for a weee bit of crust crunch and texture, but still soft. The calamari was great. Mi madre is over the moon for it. I thought it was a little heavy and really needed something to dip it in, but that's not something to gig em for. I could asked for sweet and sour sauce. Or more soy, whatever. The shrimp toast though... Let me tell you something, about this shrimp toaste. It's super important. You need this in your life. Post haste. Like, right fucking now. Next time I go there, I may very well just order dumplings and shrimp toast. It has got a really subtle but steady sweetness that lingers nicely. Tried this place last night with my parents & husband. My husband & mother are two of the pickiest eaters & trying to find a restaurant they both like is difficult. Asian Garden was pleasing to all. The chicken teriyaki on a skewer was a good appetizer. My husband had Beef Lo Mein & declared it the best ever. The rest of us ordered Hawaiian Chicken & it was a good choice as well. I'm so glad to have found another restaurant to add into the rotation & can't wait to try other dishes. read more

We tried the Singapore Noodles (excellent!) and Sesame Chicken (also excellent). Both entrees were prepared fresh and were obviously not pre-packaged. Service was OK, and they did a lot of to-go orders while we were there. The dining room is pretty basic, and it was clean. I would definitely return! read more

I decided to wait until I had tried this location twice, before writing a review. Both times I had dined here during unbusy hours. I was seated and served quickly. I really like Kung Pao chicken when I go to a Chinese restaurant, and this place serves a pretty good one for a reasonable price. I have had the hot green tea and also the iced tea, and both were as expected. I haven't tried anything else yet, but I plan to in the future. read more

Ordered online a few days ago, and it was delicious. We got sweet and sour chicken, and ruby chicken(the sweet chili chicken). Both came with plenty, and were fresh and delicious. The spring roll is huge and fresh, the teriyaki chicken on a stick great too. Definitely will be ordering here again. Only thing I wasn't too keen on was the wonton soup. The wonton tasted good, the soup to me needed more flavor, and salt. But I'm picky about my soups. Fast and prompt service too when I went to pick it up. read more

I'm not sure how there are 4 and 5 star reviews, but maybe my wife and I came in on a bad day. Her "fried rice" was white as a sheet and just as bland. She had to add all the soy sauce packs they gave us to make it remotely palatable. My sweet and sour chicken was okay, but extremely greasy. Also extremely greasy, our egg rolls, which while the best tasting of what we ordered, also were mostly wonton instead of filling. For nearly $25 we expected much better quality AND quantity. We are visiting from out of town and decided to try the Asian Garden. Wow, was I pleasantly surprised! My wife had the cashew chicken, my son had General Tso's Shrimp and I had the sweet and sour chicken. All of it was so delicious. My son kept asking my wife if she could cook shrimp like that. Very reasonable prices and great food. I'm looking forward to coming back and eating there again. read more

We were surprised by the generous servings for our pick up orders. My husband ordered General Tso chicken, I got the Shrimp with scallops, vegetables, I also ordered the regular sushi plate. You get plenty of food and reasonable prices. I will be ordering from here again for sure, since for now with the Covid 19, they don't have dining inside yet. read more

Last month I was feeling under the weather and called in chicken noodle soup. The guy was friendly and 20 minutes. When I arrived the dining area had 1 customer around 4 pm. Back to the soup. Amazing is all I can say. It came in a quart container I don't remember price but worth it. Every ingredient was cooked to perfection. We moved to Athens three months ago and finally tried this place out. We LOVE it!!! I got General Tso chicken and my wife got sesame chicken. Both had a really good sauce and the chicken was cooked perfectly. We shared crab rangoons for an appetizer and they were very good too. If you want soup or an egg roll, those cost extra as they are not included in the meals. Portions are plentiful and we took half our food home. We definitely be back! read more

Update... regulars now, go a couple times a month for lunch. $6.50 includes soup. Have had crispy chicken w/ broccoli, Kung pao chicken, Mongolian beef, garlic chicken, & crispy shrimp (shrimp slightly higher) all good. Nothing stellar but for Athens surprising. Have tried to order the scallion pancakes a couple times & they haven't been able to make it, out of the ingredients. I'll try one more time before I make my comment to get it off the menu if you aren't going to serve it. Food is actually right at 3 stars. Value for lunch 3 1/2 stars. Consistent prompt service, water never empty, soup & meal served quickly, check dropped without asking - always, is 4 stars Rounded up because I want them to be successful. Athens has been lacking in cultural & foodie experiences, in general. Culture shock to have always lived in Dallas & other metropolitan cities in the country & come out to the Athens restaurant scene. The last thing Athens needs is to lose a decent Asian place. tried for 1st time last week: mongolian beef & Gen'l Tsao's chicken. about half the beef was too chewy & all of it was flavorless. General's is supposed to be SPICY. it was not. that's easily fixed with specific instructs to the kitchen. i'll try it 1 more time then continue to search for decent Chinese food in east TX. it can't be that hard (and Chandler-ites, don't tell me about that miserable China Chef in Chandler. Not much atmosphere or ambiance here, but we were so glad to discover this place. There aren't many great restaurants at the lake, but this is an Asian gem in the rough. We had some really good egg rolls and wonton soup to start. My wife enjoyed the chicken lo mein, my daughter enjoyed the California roll and I had the Dragon and Phoenix (chicken and shrimp w vegetables and white rice). The service was OUTSTANDING. In the place that used to Roma's. They brightened the space up. They have great Asian food, even a vegetarian-friendly section of the menu. I had some eggplant & a veggie roll. Their egg-drop soup is a nice appetizer, too. The restrooms are way back in the back, & only one-seaters. Good thing they weren't too busy. I'd still love to come back! read more

The service was very good. The food was just ok. They use the same sauce for every dish, but just alter the toppings. I ordered the sesame chicken and my huband got the sweet & sour shrimp but they used the same sauce just put sesame on mine and pineapple on his...and it had a very strong vinegar taste. read more

First, I'd like to address the food. The lo mein was benign at best. Had very little flavor. The sesame chicken was sweet and sour chicken with sesame seeds. Shrimp tempura was unlike every tempura I've ever had, just battered, not as tempura. The only saving grace was the chicken teriyaki. Although served on a stick, was tasty. In my neck of the woods, chicken teriyaki is served with onions, but so be it. We're from out of state, staying in a hotel. I specifically asked the person packing the order to include plates and utensils for four people. Got the order to the hotel discovered no plates were included. I was told on the phone when I called to complain that they didn't have any plates. All they had to do was tell me, so I could pick some up. The second star is only for the teriyaki. Weak establishment at best. read more

The staff waited on a couple that showed up after me. I had to ask for everything, little bowl for soy sauce, extra forks, napkins (got 3) ect.. There were 2 adults 3 kids spent $60 and we order from the lunch menu. For the price of their food, taste, and service I will go elsewhere next time. read more

Much better than I was expecting. Service was fast. 3 different people came by to see that we were taken care of. We had the sushi nachos which were expensive @ $9 but they were good. I had the general Tso shrimp and my wife had the sushi. The meals were better than the sushi but but I would likely get either again.
