This market is on the smaller side and the area in between the aisles is very small, but I don't mind because the owners are incredibly friendly and they have the best stock of Korean snacks and foods! On Thursdays to Saturdays they have homemade, fresh kimbap. They also have a refrigerated section all days with homemade kimchi and other goods. I love the kimchi here. The prices are pretty fair compared to other Asian markets in the area. I love coming here to restock my Korean snacks and highly recommend it! read more

I have shopped here 3 times in the last 6 months and every single time, I have found many expired items. I notified the owner after I found an expired item and he acted very puzzled to see it. After reading the other reviews, it seems like they sell expired items hoping customers won't notice. One of my favorite local grocers in the area. Excellent selection of products from fresh produce to frozen items to live seafood to canned goods. They also have INCREDIBLE prepared foods. My husband LOVES the duck, pork, and chicken from the little restaurant in the entryway. Also the pork scallion floss buns are one of his favorites. I love the yogurt (especially the honey flavor and matcha flavor) and all of the varieties of tofu in the dairy section. read more

Before heading up to downtown Rochester, stopped by to pick up some items for friends. The store is located in a strip mall and it's located at the end of the building, hidden from the main road. In fact, you ca't see the store sign until you get closer to the end of the building. Plenty of parking, they store has all your essential items - rice, kimchi, sauces, even meats - granted they looked like they were there for some time... the area by the cashier has all your cooking utensils, bowls, etc, they also will make kimbop - made to order and they offered four different kinds. read more

I have been here so many times I forgot to write a review. They have all your Asian needs, ramen noodles, sauces, veggies and fruits, bakery items and fresh fish. Yes Kimchi, Miso Paste and etc. Just a tip you need to spend at least $10 to use a credit/debit card ok. They do have tables in the outer area as they do have food and house made ramen soups get you some. I've found wonderful spices, Kit Kat's from Japan that you cant find here and even utensils. My favorite place to pick up Korean goods. The store owners are Korean, very friendly and helpful couple. You can find Asian spices/ sauces along with other items like snacks, noodles, frozen food, side dishes, good selection of kimchi, meat (sliced pork belly, thinly sliced beef and pork for bulgogi, and kalbi). The fresh produce area is small, but they offer veggies other Asian stores don't (like Korean radish, Korean baby radish for pickling, and perilla leaves). I also love the fact that she makes kimbap and few other dishes to order on site (only certain days of the week if I recall). I would highly recommend getting the bibimbop mix to make your own bibimbop at home! The container will serve as two meals for my husband and me. read more

Apparently watching TV was more important than helping me to check out. I should have just left my groceries on the counter. No hello or acknowledgement when I walked in and when I walked up to the counter to check out the man completely ignored me and stared at the TV until he decided he would do me the honor of checking me out. Decent selection of fresh produce but a big variety of fish and seafood that you won't see in most establishments. The exotic fish isn't really my cup of tea so I can't comment on their taste but it is impressive to see them all lined up on display looking fresh and well cleaned. The store is generally clean and inviting with no major issues that I can see. I grabbed some fresh packaged noodles and a few ingredients the other day but couldn't find a few items I see at the larger Asian markets I've been to. Also a few of their produce items seemed a bit old and not as well stocked as I would hope. They also don't have any fresh takeaway items which is a bit of a downer. I'd say it's worth a stop in if you are in the area but would recommend giving some of the other shops in the area a look if this doesn't fit what you are looking for. I love coming here for fresh veggies! There is always a great selection of fresh veggies, straight from the farm to you. I can always get Chinese cabbage, baby bok choy, mustard greens, spinach, and other traditional greens. They also have a great selection of fresh seafood, along with some more exotic fresh fish, frogs, turtles, and eels. I loved it here! I always enjoy going to the Asian markets because they smell like my grandmother's house. Everything was well organized, clean and well stocked. I found all the things I was looking for and it was all of great quality. I didn't purchase any of my produce from here, mostly because the selection was small and I prefer to buy it from the public market if I am able to. The owners were wonderfully sweet and complimented me on my Korean food knowledge which I thought was adorable. I will definitely be back! read more

The owners are very friendly/nice and they serve a couple of dishes on the weekend which are amazingly delicious. Grocery prices are comparable to other Asian markets around Rochester, but they do have a bigger variety of Korean groceries than most of the other Asian markets that tend to stock more Chinese type grocery. I love the kimbap from here. It's about $6 and you get a really big roll. Compare that to Wegman's $5 sushi roll that is barely half the size of the kimbap and you know you're getting a great deal. read more

People have been mistaking this Asia Market with the one around the corner "Asia Food Market". Don't know why that other store (which came in not too long ago) just added the word "Food" in the middle, just confuses everyone. Like come on, lets be more creative here people. But regardless THIS Asia Market has been in Rochester WAY longer than Asia Food Market. Great service owned by two amazing good looking folks. Just started serving Korean Style Fried Chicken both sweet and spicy sauce AND garlic on Thursday-Saturday. Also have Korean foods made fresh and served like kimbap and ddukbokki also on Thursday-Saturday. GREAT to finally have Korean style fried chicken in Rochester! I haven't tried the restaurant section so can't comment on that. However, the market itself is not really worth the trip. It's very small and doesn't have much that you can't find at one of the other nearby Asian food stores. If you want a really specific frozen food imported from Korea it might be worth coming here, but otherwise probably not. read more

Maesri curry pastes for $0.85 a can (versus $1.35 + $5.58 S&H on Amazon). WOOT WOOT! Live frogs, eel, salted duck, moon cakes, mochi, tons of sauces and pastes, exotic fruit (including fresh durian, which I HATE, and passionfruit), and all kinds of asian treats for a cheap price. Besides the Maesri curry pastes, I also love that they have my favorite coconut milk drink! It's kinda far from our house, but when we come here, we stock up! Interesting place, good seafood ( a rarity in Rochester) with cheap prices.Many items you can't find at the other stores( some of the more bizarre forms of olives and fruits are my favorites being a mixologist), much wider aisles and lots more space than any other market make it easier to browse.Near the old BJ's in the old mattress place. read more

Good selections of noodles, frozen potstickers, frozen dumplings, enormous selections of sauces, spices and sweets. Owning an extraordinarily useful sense of smell (honestly, I used to win county and state fair contests involving agricultural things best left undescribed, involving being able to detect freshness), I'm more than willing to forego ever, EVAH buying meat or fish here that is not currently swimming in a tank, and I'm not so sure about the latter. And that odor is always right when you walk in, which keeps me steadfastly in the packaged aisles. But the packaged aisles are great! I really like this place! As stated by others, you WILL find things here that no one else has, in Rochester, NY area. Their building expansion is well underway, and appears to be larger than the existing store. Owner says existing and new buildings will be connected. It is a cultural experience to shop there! I am impressed with the number of products with non-GMO and organic labels. Produce is fresh, sometimes unknown to me, and prices throughout store are competitive. Best bet for assistance in English is with the RIT and UofR students shopping there. The pottery store at the entrance is no longer there. We stock up on a variety of rice, grains and beans when we go. read more
