I found out there was one in the area, located at Reno's Music. I had never heard of this establishment before but I saw on their website that they have a lot of Martin guitars in their inventory. So when my husband and I were in the general neighborhood, we decided to stop in and have a look. This turned out to be a really bad idea. I have been playing guitar for 55 years and my husband also for nearly as long. My father was an Indianapolis jazz guitarist who will be inducted into the Indianapolis Jazz Hall Of Fame in 2026. I have been visiting guitar stores since I was a little girl, and never have I been treated so rudely EVER. There was one guy working there, and zero customers. Most guitar shops are lively, upbeat places filled with music but this was basically an office with a storeroom of what looked to be a zillion boxed-up guitars. I asked this person if he had a D-17 because I was interested in playing one. He launched into this gatekeeper routine that would have made my father laugh with scorn and then turn around and head straight out the door. This guy said, "First we're going to have a little conversation". What??? I thought this was a business and I just wanted to see a guitar! He wanted to know our names. I thought wtf? Our names won't mean anything to you? But I gave them, first and last, and then he replied that his name was Mark. Okay fine, whatever. Do you play? he wanted to know. Okay, why would I even be in a place like that if I didn't play? I was playing before this guy was even thought of! Well, after I replied yes, we both do, he condescended to let me try the guitar. It was a very nice guitar but I had already made up my mind that I would not be buying a $1 kazoo off this guy. I played one more guitar there and we left. Needless to say, I will take my money and my business elsewhere. I am still in the market for a high-end Martin but thankfully there are many other guitar stores in the Indianapolis area that are far more welcoming and treat their customers like they want their business - NOT like they are doing them some kind of a favor just letting them in the door. I've seen other reviews left by people who had much the same experience with Reno's Music, so it wasn't just us, it's how this place is, unfortunately.

We were invited to a birthday party at Bongo Boy, and boy did we have some bongo fun. I've been to…read moremany kid birthday parties at many different venues, and Bongo Boy impressed me because everything was so well organized. From start to finish, the birthday party went really well, all the kids had a great time, and you could tell that the staff at Bongo Boy had done this before and they were in charge of the situation. From the perspective of a guest, the party was super relaxed and fun for everyone. They started with some balloon play, which consisted of just putting some balloons out, turning on some music and letting the kids go at them. Honestly, you could probably just set kids up in a bare room with balloons and they would have a good time for an hour, but then it was time to play with some simple percussion instruments. The kids played with those for a while, and then we took a break and ate food and cake. Afterward, we got into a circle and beat on the bongos! We banged on the bongos for a good while, and it makes a lot of noise, so just be aware of that if you have kids who might be sensitive to noise. (My kids had to take a break after a while because it got too stimulating for them.) The birthday party ended with some more balloon play, and everyone left smiling. Bingo Boy does family music time / family drum circles every Saturday at 9:30 a.m., as of this writing. For a small fee, your family can spend the morning making music together. Pretty awesome!

I've been taking amps and pedal boards to Uncle Albert's since 2007. My brand new Fender Twin…read morearrived damaged, he fixed it under warranty, no charge. I turned my Marshall TSL up to 10 one night and literally burned it up (dimmed all the lights in the house, heard a pop, no sound, then smelled smoke). He had to clean up the board inside due to carbon deposits, replaced a power transformer, soldered in a number of capacitors, etc. and re-tubed it. He charged me about the same as if I bought the parts and did it myself. He fixed a couple of Vox Tonelab effects pedals for me. The last repair (12/2025) was on my Marshall JVM 410H that had a lot of noise. The tubes were fine, so he had to go over every component, every circuit, to eventually find it to be a $3 capacitor. What he charged me was way under what his time was worth, it plays beautifully now. He even texted me this morning to make sure the amp played well last night. Kevin doesn't just fix the problem, he goes over the entire amp, cleans all the electronics, even wraps up the freeking cord like it came new. I won't take my amps anywhere else.

We enjoyed our view this year in the balcony, however, it was a spot where small children were dancing around as they were seemingly too young for such a long performance. We may go back to box seats for next season! The ticket booth was great and helped locate our tickets when my email decided to blitz out!
