I am new to the area and had no idea where to confidently get my hair cut. I chose Ashten's due to the photos on their Facebook page- the staff just looked happy and like they enjoyed working together. Plus the salon had a professional, cute look. I called and was scheduled with Natalie. When I arrived early for my appointment she greeted me warmly and didn't hesitate to take me right away. I am a Caucasian woman with thick, curly hair. I let Natalie know that I wanted to remove some of the weight of my hair and intensify the layering, all without removing the overall length. Natalie did a great job layering my hair, touching it up where she saw necessary even once she had it styled (straight). I really appreciated all the attention she put into making sure I was happy with the cut. She was friendly and personable. If you are looking for an amazing colorist, I suggest Daniel R. He listened to all my concerns, accessed the state of my hair, and offered me several coloring options. The results exceeded my expectations. I love my color! He also deep conditioned and cut my hair. I am extremely picky and he took his time to make sure every layer was cut evenly. This salon is by far the best on the mountain, I had such a great experiences there with the stylists and the overall feel welcomed and loved. I absolutely love Hannah, she always has a gorgeous smile on her face. Hannah always makes you feel ten times better about any situation. When you talk to her she listens intently and the care she gives is absolutely amazing. She has a heart of gold. Not to mention she has gorgeous hair experience. I showed her a photo of what I'd like and she goes above and beyond to make sure it's done right. It always turns out WAY better than the photo. Tia is a great stylist but unfortunately can not keep her appointment book straight. I booked hair cut appointments in September 2022 through January 2023 and Tia wrote down the dates and times so I could add to my calendar. Today was the 2nd time an appointment was not in her book. The day before Thanksgiving with my husband and I going to a family function. I sent Tia the appointment slip she gave me in September an hour ago and have received no response. she's now fired. too bad, I had my last stylist for 15+ years and was very loyal, Tia's loss, bad customer service. I am now scrambling to find someone to cut my hair before we head out at 730am tomorrow. read more

Awful place, bad management stylist act like little caddy girls in 4th grade. They have a philosophy of "firing clients" which I guess makes them feel superior, yet none of them seem like their making very much money. Terrible service and the person who cut my boyfriends' hair didn't even give it a style, she just butchered him. We paid 25 for her to use the same size clippers all over, it was so short we couldn't go anywhere else to get it fixed. We will not return here. The 1 Star was to indicate I "voted" so to speak. Gladys took my appt as a call in, visitor from The Valley, needing a haircut. She recommended a keratin treatment, which took 15 minutes. I am so happy. She took my thin, fuzzy grey hair to a silky simple, layered cut, that was walk out of the salón, fantastic. No need to run home and restyle. I am so happy with her service!!!!! read more

Alma was awesome! I love my hair! I gave a 3 because I had to console my daughter for over 10 minutes while Alma finished my hair. I told my daughter she could buy some nail polish that she had brought to me to ask permission to buy. She went to a corner & started painting her nails not bothering anybody that I could tell. A blonde employee who works there just took the nail polish away from her without saying why. When my almost 5 year old daughter tried to tell her that her mom said she could buy the nail polish, the woman just put the nail polish away with no explanation. I finally calmed my daughter down & discovered that the nail polish had come from the stash the shop uses for manicures & pedicures. I managed to get her to go over to where they keep the nail polish for sale. She brought 2 over, picked one. When she went to go put one of the polish back, she said the man tried to take the polish we were buying away from her & she ran to me. He did come over & ask me if it was polish we were buying because she had been messing with the polish before. I told him that it was, and I wasn't aware the other polish didn't come from where it wasn't on sale. Once again, I had to console a sensitive, crying child for over 10 minutes because some woman didn't bother to explain to my child that the polish she was using wasn't for sale and show her what was available for sale. My child isn't stupid! She would've looked at the polish for sale & stayed away from their stash. It's polish, people! My husband is still irritated about it, & told me I shouldn't go back. I'm torn because, as I said, I love my hair by Alma, but I hate the rudeness showed to my child. I probably will go back when I get back from out of state to have my second child since there are no specialists in Show Low. Hopefully, I won't be as irritated in about 6 or 7 months. I edited my review from 3 stars to 1 star for the reply to my review. Ashten's Salon Heather you are a horrible person for posting such garbage about my staff and salon. You paid no attention to your child and expected everyone to watch your child. Don't blame us for your bad parenting They then went on to say that I did admit that she was playing with polish by saying she asked me if she could buy it. She didn't open any polish until she knew it would be hers. I have decided to not go back, and I'm not going to go anywhere that I can't keep my eyes on my children all of the time due to people calling me a bad parent, which I am not. In my opinion, their reply post reflects bad customer service. I discovered that he copied a picture of my Facebook profile & a picture of the review. He had people calling me obnoxious & telling me things I could have said & done when in fact they weren't there. There was one person who said she was there & my daughter said something out of line, & they also stated she was younger than she was. I took my review down & changed my privacy settings for Facebook. Maybe I didn't make myself clear in the review, but I didn't appreciate whoever it was taking the polish (which I thought was for sale by the way) away from my daughter & not telling her why. There were 2 other kids there & my daughter said they were playing rough. The lady who took the polish away put up all of the toys. That is why my daughter was trying to find polish to paint her nails! read more

Kim did a great job on my five year old daughter's haircut. She was sweet, patient, and paid careful attention to detail. The price of her cut was a fraction of the price I pay in Vegas (we were just visiting the area) and the salon was clean and spacious. Very happy with our experience! read more

My haircut was OK, cut the way I asked. The styling was not what I asked for. The environment was terrible. For the very high price I expected fantastic customer service and a professional atmosphere like I get when I go to Ulta's in the city. Instead there was a loud obnoxious male hair stylist that clearly needed to be heard by all and he would not stop talking. He had his little groupie girls following him around that thought jokes about seniors was appropriate. He was rude. Will never go there again. I was lucky to get the one nice stylist there. Have better service at Fantastic Sam's for a fraction of the cost. read more

Very nice shop. However, for a short hair perm, I was charged $ 95.00. Ridiculous!! The girl that completed my perm did not do a good job....supposedly she had 8 years in the field. I have straight hair on the crown of my head and possibly in other areas not visible to me. I do not recommend this shop! read more
