Updating my July 25th review of Acute Nails and Spa. When I got home I realized my left toe was bleeding from a large cut done by Julia. Bleeding cuticles and bleeding left toe is certainly the worst experience I have ever had at a Nail and Spa business. Very disappointed. I recently moved to the area. It's my Birthday and I wanted to treat my daughter and I. And I wanted a relaxing experience. I showed the gentleman a picture and he said he could do it. Every time he asked me a question he was very rude to me. He kept rolling his eyes at me as my daughter watched. Towards the end he very rudely said..... do you want the ombré or not. He never said there would be a higher price. He charged me $20 more than my daughters. And it's not even what i asked for. I was charged $70 and my daughters were $50. I am so bothered by the way he spoke rudely to me. I wanted to bring my daughter back for other services. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

First time customer. Will not return. I won't even get them removed from this place. I got my nails done YESTERDAY. Woke up this morning and my pinky nail is missing? Never had that happen before. Honestly this is the WORST establishment I've ever been to. The guy doing my nails kept getting up and walking away? Pretty annoying. And he was so rude. I kept my hands on the table, only got on my phone when he walked away, because what else am I supposed to do, it was like 6 times. But he wasn't friendly, my first red flag should've been when I walked in for the appointment and he asked if I wanted a fill or full set and as I was talking he walked away saying "I'll look at it when you sit down". Then don't ask a question if you're not anticipating an answer? I should've turned around right there. Then sitting down as he's cutting my nails off I said "I figured it would be a full set because they're pulling up underneath" and he said "I could've filled them but you want a full set" 1, I prefer a full it's faster 2, he started cutting the nails off before looking at them. Also, I'm not sure what was wrong with him, but he kept forgetting what he was doing IN THE MIDDLE OF WORKING ON ONE HAND, he would move to next steps leaving one or two nails not files or buffed. He left 4 fingers unworked before I said "you forgot this hand" When he was applying the pink power, it's not all the way to the nail bed, I had to ask him to add it to the full nail. And he was rude about it. I didn't check his work after he added it because he was so so soo rude with his comments. Even after I got home, it's the thinnest layer of acrylic. You can see the natural nail still. The remaining fingers, he made sure to add acrylic to the first knuckle of every finger. I'm not even exaggerating. He was peeling acrylic off my fingers, my skin, and his hands and gloves because he used WAY TOO MUCH. As he applied the powder to my nail, he dropped a glob of acrylic on my nails, so much so that it dried as it was falling off the nail. When he didn't catch it with his paint brush and plop it back on top of the nail then smear it around. New experience for me. But there is SO MUCH dried acrylic underneath my nails, it's disgusting. I even asked him to clean it and he said he did. But again, he was the rudest person I've ever had "help me" with something. Wasn't worth the fight at the time, looking back, I should've. It was the strangest thing I've ever experienced in my life. He also couldn't keep his eyes open and he had to keep blowing his nose. I honestly think he was on something other than oxygen but I'm not a doctor. I will not be returning. Save yourself the headache and go to the other nail place in the same parking lot. They're better at their job. read more

I walked in for a pedicure and was taken in 10 minutes. She did a very good job and I did not feel rushed. I was allloud time for the toenails to completely dry before leaving. A week later now and they look great. read more

We were able to walk in to get a pedicure and dip. The place seemed clean and everyone was nice but it was the longest nail appointment of my life. It was 2 hours. The gel Pedicure was more expensive than my dip. The staff was friendly but I wouldn't go there. My nails don't even have powder all the way to the edge and they are not filed correctly. I was supposed to get pink and white Gel and got barely pink gel with white polish and a top coat. When I told the guy two nails had high points he (and I can not make this up) said it was my fingers. I am a retired hair dresser and I did gel nails for 15 years and these look horrible and the owner just shook his head and didn't even care. The largest issue I had was the fact that the nail tech used the nail drill to remove regular polish. This just should not be done, period. I understand using a drill to remove excess gel polish AFTER soaking it off, but not regular polish. I ended up going home and repolishing my toes because it was so bad. Went here for my wedding. Wee was awesome and did my nails better than I could've imagined. My nails are very small so he worked with the stickers to make sure they were exactly how I wanted, even redoing a nail twice without being asked. Highly recommend. Today I had a gel pedi and dip/gel on my hands I can not use the word mani because that is not included in the $46 for the dip/gel. This visit grand total was $86 which I'm happy to pay with all the extra work and the increased durability of dip/gel. Here is the part I find incredibly ridiculous: upon completion of my nail service oil was applied to my cuticles and I was told to use the lotion located next to me if I wished to do so. At this point I was confused because there was no mani, no pushing the cuticles back, no trimming of the cuticles and no hand/arm massage. Maybe I'm old school but I have never had my nails done and a proper mani wasn't included. I spoke with the owner and he confirmed cuticle care is extra. He also explained the little machine they use basically sands off your cuticles ‍ Tip for the day - if you wish to have a traditional, proper manicure be sure to request it with your service and be prepared to pay extra. read more

I will NEVER go back to this place. First of all, the technician certainly needs a course in customer service, as she did not speak to me the entire time, only gestured. I also had to tell her 3 times to file my nails shorter, because they grow so fast. And even after the 3-times, they were still longer than I wanted, but I was on a time limit and couldn't keep going over and over the same thing. The pedicure was not relaxing at all. She was entirely too rough with the legs and feet treatments. It honestly felt like I was going to have razor burn on my legs and chewed-up feet. She was not wearing a name tag, so I am unable to give you her name. I can only say she is younger, wore a mask, didn't speak, looked Korean, and never made ANY eye contact until it came to being paid at the register. I got both a manicure and pedicure, but I have to say, she did not deserve a tip, period. The service was substandard and the results below par. However, I am a woman of honor and believe in karma, so I did give her $20.00. She had a lucky day. Of note...the equipment used IS NOT STERILE. The technician pulled everything used on my nails from a drawer, not a medical centrifuge like I have seen in professional nail salons. The entire place looks dated and unclean. How this place can call themselves a 'spa' is misleading, to be sure. Perhaps this review will be a wake-up call to whomever is in charge of, or owns, this 'spa'. It must be realized that word of mouth does work and that THEY are NOT the only rodeo in town. I will drive a further distance to spend my hard earned money, because this business will never get another penny of my money. Don't bother making appointments at 'Acute Nails and Spa 2' by the Safeway on White Mountain Blvd in Lakeside Arizona, just show up as a walk-in. Each of my last 4 appointments have been delayed by 40+ minutes because whoever is next on the list is called up, appointment or not. I've even come in 30 minutes before my appointment, signed in, and watched walk-ins get preferential treatment because they have a quick fix request or need a specialty from the Spa side of the business. It doesn't appear to be a question of staffing, more like lack of managerial professionalism. If I respect your time enough to make and be on time for an appointment, I expect you to respect my time enough to honor my appointment. Spa 2 was the worst experience today, though. On time for my gel pedicure appointment, the tech seated me 40 minutes late to soak in cold water, no jets, before disappearing She returned 15 minutes later and spent 5 minutes filing my toes, then left. I didn't see her again. After the first 20 minutes I asked another employee where the tech went and was told she was giving two walk-ins eyebrow waxings. An emergency, no doubt. After the second 20 minutes, I asked my sister if we could just leave. She had been sitting next to me the entire time, soaking her feet in cold water, no jets, no tech, no service. Waiting. So, 1 hour and 40 minutes after arriving, and having received nothing anyone could describe as "service," we dried our feet, got up and left. On our way out, I stopped to say goodbye to the lady we visited with while waiting for our appointments. She had been seated 10 minutes before us (one whole hour AFTER her appointment time), and had just finished her mani-pedis. As year-round residents, we try very hard to support our local businesses to help offset fluctuations in the economy of this mountainside summer/winter resort community. Fortunately, there are several nail salons in Lakeside and the surrounding area that provide professional work and great service. Our advice: check them out and give "Acute Nails and Spa 2" a hard pass. Seriously. read more

Went for dip powder Nails and left with raw bleeding fingers with top coat peeling up. The tech forgot the activator phase of the process then tried to blame me for moving my hands around during drying. My cuticles were cut to the point they won't stop bleeding--I can't decide if I want to go in for a refund or just never go back. They won't touch my hands ever again though, that's certain. read more

Very reasonable prices, clean salon and great work. What more could you want? I have been around to a couple of different nail salons and this one has had the best service and work. My pedicure lasts about 4 weeks on average which is a long time for me! I recommend making an appointment as this place gets very busy, especially on Saturdays. read more

The two of us scheduled appointments the day before to assure that we could get our pedicures at the same time. Unfortunately, when we checked in, they didn't bother to tell us that they were short handed. We were brought to chairs and put our feet in to soak. We sat and sat, and eventually one person came out and started on me. We expected the second to come out momentarily, but my pedicure was completed before my wife's was even started. She commented later that she felt it was hurried compared to what she saw I got. It also took a lot longer than we had planned because of this. I think it is good customer service to tell clients about what is happening, rather than have us feel resentful. I would give an even lower rating, but the actual pedicures were good. read more

Called them this morning at 9am, got an appointment for 10am. Cue (so sorry if I'm spelling it wrong) was my nail technician. Absolutely the best experience I've had with a pedicure. I have some challenges with two nails, and I always have pain from previous nail techs, but Cue was excellent! No pain, great results, and in and out in wonderful time!
