Not a dollar store. They make up prices at the register. I wasted my time here, don't waste yours.

RATE: NEGATIVE 100…read more THIS LOCATION IS YUCK!! Who owns this place? Is it a chain/franchise? Does the City of Santa Barbara realize the disgust? I will be complaining to my COUNCIL MEMBERS & FILING COMPLAINTS, with State and FEDS. Many, many ordinances & LAWS are being violated. This store is HORRIBLE and reflects the heart of the fy owner. It is very UNKEMPT. DOES THE OWNER VALUE THEIR CONSUMERS? HOMELESS or NOT. No AIR CONDITIONER for 6 months. The bathrooms are disgusting. The reason you have a code for the bathroom is because corporation keeps and maintains bathrooms clean, tidy, and they only allow their valued customers to enter. No, at this dollar store their is feces on the wall, no toilet paper, no toilet seat covers, broken paper towel dispenser. I don't know how or why the employees have not sued? Atrocious working conditions!! And, they are very customer service oriented in spite of their working conditions. This place gets a BIG FAT zero. i'M NOT ALLOWED TO RATE ZERO. IF I COULD I'D RATE IT A NEGATIVE 100. I guess, when they say, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR ...is TRUE.

In these inflationary times, who doesn't want a deal? So, Dollar Tree stepped in and now it's open. My preliminary comments: No fresh produce section, and not much in the coolers, which is a big bummer. The prices are great: almost everything for a buck twenty-five. I'm not sure, but it feels like it doesn't have the same variety as the old 99. Maybe just because the word isn't out yet, it's dead in there. Quiet, no bustle, not many people, no big lines, and, wonder of wonders, plenty of parking!

I was able to find a blue summer dress for the hot weather outside since I didn't pack any. There were alot of work clothes there that I definitely would love to buy but due to my limited time I decided not to try them on but I was very shocked to see the nice designs of clothing they had in the store. I most definitely will check out the LA location to see if it matches up. Great PRICE!

Sales woman was very nice and friendly, I forgot her name but she said she had just moved here from Utah. I noticed she liked to talk to her customers as much as she could, which is great if the room is empty, or the customers were in a hurry, but not great if they are in a rush(depends on the situation). Pricing for jewelry is quite weird, because it's based by tags instead of each tag having it's own pricing. I think it would of just been easier to price each one individually, so we wouldn't have to look at the sign for it's correct pricing. They should also keep an eye on their jewelry, because the first bracelet I saw had massive rhinestones missing. I do not like that they have to tie each bag for you with a string. A waste of string if you ask me and a waste of time, because those on the go or on a time frame has to wait a couple more minutes for the person to cut and tie the string on the bag.

They also have one hell of a wine section. If you are flexible about brands, you can get great deals on all kinds of wine, from pino to Cab, rose to sauv blanc. They even carry European varietals. The beer selection is also very good. Again, if you aren't picky about brands, you can get all your bread, cereal, produce, frozen foods, condiments, beauty products, and more for a very cheap price relative to other grocery stores. The place is also pretty clean, but some of the clientele struggles in that department, maybe because of the allure of said alcohol section. The workers are mostly nice, but they are almost always understaffed and lines can take a while. Definitely worth checking out!

I work as a server and know it isn't always easy to be pleasant but to not say thank you or you're welcome or to be given the side eye is kind of off putting. There's a cashier I avoid just because her inexplainable sourness makes me want to go for a more friendly cashier if I see one is there. I've worked with customers probably longer than this gal has been alive and know my attitude toward others is my choice. Anyhow! I shop at more than one store in this economy so I hope the deals will keep coming. I've bought some duds at this store and only made the decision to return something once because it was a pricy fail but the overall experience is usually positive.
