They gave me some BS story about how they have to wait a few days to correct the address. until they correct the address they can't schedule the delivery. this makes absolutely no sense to me. Came here just browsing for furniture. The value of the items seemed reasonable. It was a nice store and we generally didn't have any problems until I was approached by a male salesman (he was bald). When I told him we were just browsing, he told me "well browsing and can lead to shopping and shopping can lead to purchasing what you are browsing." As I walked away I told him "yes but we will not be purchasing anything today." He kept making going off about how "browsing didn't make sense unless one was going to shop/purchase something." I would strongly warn anyone considering buying furniture from Ashley in Somerville that a couch was delivered to my apartment with bed bugs. I have documentation from an exterminator 2 days after it was delivered that the only spot of bugs in my apartment was on the new couch - the company's only solution was to pick it up and return it 8 days later. I love Ashley Furniture. I had an Ashley sectional in my last house that was amazingly comfortable and was hoping to find something for my new house. We were greeted INTENSELY by Orlando the moment we walked in the door. Like the man has energy which probably works well for him at times, but it was a bit anxiety-inducing for us. We just wanted to wander and sit on things while we thought about how we wanted our living room to look. When we informed him we were comparing to another furniture company, his first comment was to bash that other company. I'm not here for a competition, I'm here to find the furniture I'll be happy with for several years. We found a sofa we were interested in and asked for a quote, because of course we qualified for some nonsense VIP discount (as does anyone who walks through the door). The sales pitch was hokey and forced. Initially, I visited the store hoping to find better pricing, but the in-store offers were the same as what I found online. I decided to make my purchase online on October 14, signing up for a $50 email discount. Unfortunately, the email took so long to arrive that I ended up completing my purchase without the discount. The next day, I received a call from the Somerville, MA location about a special promotion on October 16, which included no tax and free delivery. I asked if I could cancel my online order to take advantage of this offer, and they assured me I could cancel and that they would honor the price I had received in-store (I even have a photo of the quote). However, when I tried to cancel online, I encountered errors, so I called customer service. The representative was friendly but informed me that he needed to call another number to process the cancellation. Unfortunately, that number was closed for the day, and I was advised to wait until the next day. He did provide the number in case I wanted to call myself, but I found the situation very frustrating. It felt like a foreign call center, and I couldn't help but feel let down by the company. The next morning, I called the provided number only to find out that my cancellation request hadn't been received. They said they would process it, but once I received an email, I would need to call another number to request my refund. When I reached out to the Somerville store again, they claimed the promotion was only valid in-store. After a lengthy and frustrating call lasting over 80 minutes, I learned that they could only honor one of the prices--the original quote or the current promotion--despite my earlier assurances. At one point, they even hung up on me, though I remained patient throughout the conversation. We all work hard for our money, and I did my research to find quality and price, trying to take advantage of sales and promotions. Buying a dining set is not an everyday purchase, and now I'm left with no furniture and over $2,000 charged to my credit card, plus the added stress of needing to call again for my refund. We are happy with our purchase of the queen Nectar Premier mattress and were able to secure a nice Labor Day mattress deal with the help of several salespersons. I called today 6-22-23 and asked Alexis for the General manager contact information and email address and she told me she doesn't know who the general manager is and she doesn't know the phone number nor contact information. This is my second review because you need to know as a business manager that everyone that worked at that store are horrible, liars and each one give different misleading informations. This is very annoying to me that they wouldn't give me a new cocktail table and a new arm chair that was delivered damaged. I notice it 48 hours after delivery on 2-6-2023 and was a nightmare up to now 6-22-2023 to received a new cocktail table that was delivered damaged and one arm chair. Matthew Heighes told me he put a new ticket on 3-3-2023 for a new cocktail table and a new arm chair but he didn't because when I called the warehouse they told me they cannot give me a new table nor cocktail table. And Jennifer at the warehouse referred me to call extended warranty and told me they would be able to helped ne because they cannot. Do not buy Ashley Furniture if there is any possibility you'll need a replacement part!! A knob of an Ashley nightstand got lost so I need a replacement. Here has been my ordeal with Ashley Furniture to try and get this part - -Contacted local store and was told they can't help me, contact customer service number -Contacted customer service and told they can't help me (furniture item is no longer available), was told to email wecare@shopashley.com -Emailed wecare@shopashley.com photos, model number, and serial number. Also included model number of a piece that is currently available with the same/similar knob. Specifically asked, HOW CAN I ORDER THIS KNOB? -Received email back that they can't help me, contact Parts at 803 228 4848. -Representative at that number couldn't help me. Was told to call 251-220-1815 or check ashleyfurniture.parts for the part. -Checked ashleyfurniture.parts website. Part not available (I already knew this since the model# is no longer sold) -Called 251-220-1815. Spoke to Margie who told me that no orders can be placed because credit card dept is not open. Also didn't know the diameter of the knob, which is very important and not available on the Ashley website or anywhere else. HOW DOES THE PARTS DEPT NOT HAVE THE SPECS FOR THEIR PARTS?? -Margie told me she would email another dept to "try" to get this information and "has no idea" when she might hear back. Took down my email to send me the info *if* she ever receives it. So far I've made 4 phone calls and sent an email and am no closer to getting this replacement part than when I started. I have completed 2 separate purchases at Ashley (still waiting on delivery) but the in store service was great! I purchased 2 pieces of furniture from Joana at the Assembly Square location and she was fabulous! She made me feel very comfortable and I never felt that looming pressure to purchase anything. Joana was there when I needed her and was very personable. The store manager Tim and another checkout employee Hope were also incredibly helpful at checkout and again, I never felt pressured to purchase something that didn't make sense for me (such as a protection plan or full install of the furniture). The district manager is rude and has no customer service and people skills. He lied despite multiple store managers confirming that I paid for a new item but was given display furniture. All I wanted to do was return a display item that I did not purchase but because the item was in my home longer than 72 hours ( which if store employees called mw back like said they would, the item could've been brought back next day). It is disheartening because I genuinely love Ashley's furniture and I have purchased furniture from the NH location in the past. Also a few of store managers and employees that I met at this location had great customer service but the district manager and individuals I had to deal with over the phone were terrible and I will never be purchasing from Ashley's again. I truly feel bad for the staff that have to work with the district manager. You can tell they try to do good business but that's not carried over with management. Absolutely horrible experience. When I purchased my furniture, I specifically mentioned that I could not have the furniture delivered on Thursdays but literally any other day of the week was fine. Both the salesman and the manager who was helping him said that was absolutely no problem whatsoever. Nonetheless, they keep trying to schedule me on Thursdays and claim I'm going to have to pay extra to have it delivered on a day other than Thursday. Ironically, they managed to have a truck come out to my place on a Wednesday, but even after speaking to the drivers, I was told they didn't have enough people on the truck to do the delivery that day and therefore had to leave. Now, despite having the conversation with drivers and receiving a call from other staff members that same day, they claim I have to be charged a fee because I supposedly wasn't home for the deliver (odd since I literally had a conversation with the driver ON MY PORCH) and also received a call from another staffer saying they were going to come on another day with 3 drivers. Now they claim I'm going to have to pay extra because they supposedly can't deliver on days other than Thursday (despite staff promises) and I have to pay a 30% fee if I don't want to proceed after being lied to about when they could have deliver. I would have never ordered from them if I knew I'd be lied to repeatedly and would be treated horribly by the staff. read more

I have been searching for several bedroom, kitchen, and living room pieces to furnish my new condo, and Nick Rose at Ashley Furniture hands down provided the best customer service of any store - and I've been shopping for a few months at small and big name stores like Jordan's and B&Ps. Nick was super personable and really sat down to explain and answer every question I had regarding the various pieces I was looking for as well as financing options to make my purchase a possibility. But he did so without being too pushy, which requires striking a healthy balance between selling and being helpful to the customer. Matt also helped in affirming some detailed questions and made me feel at ease about making a large purchase to furnish an entire condo. Yea, no. Ashley's is not it. I picked up my dresser and chest/mirror set from the warehouse. Upon arriving home, one of the chest drawers was broken. I reached out to them, and of course they took FOREVER to reply, thus passing the 7 day mark, and telling me it was too late to fix it. I've been relentlessly calling them to no avail. I would advise you getting your furniture from elsewhere. And that 5 yr warranty? A joke. You have to fight tooth and nail to get them to cover anything that happens to your furniture. It is not as good quality as they make it seem and it's significantly overpriced. read more

NIGHTMARE!!! We will never be ordering from Ashley EVER again. This started in May when we bought a couch from Ashley in Sommerville. We were told we could book our delivery date for June 1 as we were moving. Come the weekend before June 1 we received a phone call saying our couch would be delivered May 25th, we said that would not work as we booked June 1 and were told if no one was at the house then we would receive a $200+ truck fee. We made it work and the couch came broken and ripped, as I tried to express to the delivery drivers this was not acceptable, they said they would not take it back and I would have to talk to customer service. Once we called they took 2 weeks to send out a couch tech to examine the broken couch who told us a support beam was broken, the fabric was ripped and torn in 3 places, and 90% of the time they had to fix it in-house and no get a new piece. AKA fix their broken product in my house when it should have arrived in perfect condition. Once we fought with customer service for a replacement because the sectional was very broken they delivered the new piece in NOVEMBER! Another spot ripped by a box cutter when delivered was reupholstered this week. The issue was that it was supposed to be fixed months ago. We called to schedule a date and time frame, but the time frame was moved from the morning to the evening and the technician never showed. We had no communication from the company explaining how the tech would be late or anything! When we called back they only had weekends till the end of the year! We took the weekend and requested a morning timeframe. They gave us 11-2 pm and by 2:15 we got a text saying the tech was on his way, he showed up at 3 and was not finished till 4 pm. To make things better the fixing job he did make it puff out which we were told: "That's just how it had to be now". All above is the WORST experience ever, customer service does not help, and when you try to elevate the situation you get a mid-level sales rep. We will NEVER buy anything from Ashley again they use outside companies for everything and when you express to them the situation they have no power. Wish I had known this before buying as we would not have used them. Add on: they tried to use our warranty even though there was a separate warranty for the delivery. So when they tell you if you don't use your warranty you will receive $200 to spend, it's a lie. Hope this helps other first-time "couch-buyers" like us because whatever sale they have its not worth it. Would give ZERO stars if possible. read more

I cannot even begin to convey what a horrible experience this has been! DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING AT THIS STORE!!!!! I ordered a couch here on over a month ago. The salesperson gave us a good deal and we were excited for our couch. They told us it would take a few weeks for delivery and although that was unexpected, we were able to be flexible. Not once did they ask us what floor of the building we lived on or if there was an elevator. The day of the delivery finally comes and the delivery people find out that the couch is too big to fit in the elevator so they turn around a walk out. After calling both Ashley and the Warehouse, we are informed that deliveries are only allowed to be made for the third floor, and after that it costs $100 per floor to deliver. Again, NO ONE TOLD US THIS BEFORE. They reassured us they would cover the cost and that them couch would be delivered the next week. The couch still hasn't been delivered and the store is now ignoring our calls. They told us this morning to stop calling them and hung up. This store is horrible. Go somewhere else. This is the first review I've ever written. I am compelled to write it due to the absolutely criminal behavior of people at this store. We ordered a couch in early March, with the promise from the salesperson that it would be delivered to our place within a few weeks. This was changed to 4-6 weeks to the warehouse and then another couple weeks for delivery. We were upset but dealt with it. However, they then sent the wrong couch. And stated it would take another 4-6 weeks to get us the correct one. At this point, due to the lack of communication and inability to live without any couch for this length of time, we wanted the order cancelled. We have since been given the run around for over a month. The general manager, Matt Heighes, constantly lied- first saying that he had started the return but we found out 2 weeks later when they kept calling to schedule delivery that he had not. Then, he said he had submitted request for full refund- but we never received it. I called the warehouse and they called him, insisting this be refunded and it still has not happened! We are fighting to get our 4K back still. Matt lies, dodges our emails and calls, and in general is the most incompetent, childish manager I've ever dealt with. I STRONGLY encourage anyone considering a purchase from this store that you look online at all the poor reviews (I wish I had!) and go elsewhere. Otherwise, the likelihood you will at minimum be disappointed and possibly be robbed is quite high. read more

I attempted to shop at Ashley Furniture in Somerville but the high pressure sales person was too difficult to deal with. I overheard a manager say to the sales associate , " do not let them leave, close the sale". As I walked through the showroom , it was filthy and dusty. My wife attempted to use the restroom and told me it was horrific. Not sure why a company thinks they can compete when treating their customers with such disrespect.
