After living with it for three weeks we decided that it was to big and we didn't feel it comfortable. I called and talked with Phillip Perish again and asked if there was something he could do to help us. He said "come on in and I will help you find something that you will be comfortable with" We went in and He met us with a smile and spent time helping us pick out a sofa,2 recliners and a guest chair all with accent pillows. The expensive dresser came with a broken latch on one of the doors. We went back the same day we delivered and set up our new furniture, and we were told there was nothing they would do, we had to call the people who made it, send them a picture, blah, blah, blah. Since when does the customer have to take time and money to fix someone else's mistake? The gal who sold us made a nice commission. These people should go into politics, screwing people for profit. Funny thing is, it is probably a $2 part from a hardware store. They would rather have bad reviews and word of mouth stories than actually have a satisfied customer. Had we known this is how they treat their customers, we'd never have purchased anything from them. Don't make our mistake.

The store is run by a family who care about their customers & will look out for them. This place is a huge warehouse full of couches, living room furniture, beds, tables, and more. The stock on the floor is all brand new and at outlet pricing -- their stock fluctuates and is never guaranteed, so if you like something you better pick it up! You can check their facebook to do a little browsing but I highly recommend coming in to browse and sit in the furniture before you make a decision. One thing that really sold us on this place was the financing that was offered. It's something like 100 days with no extra fees to pay off your furniture -- after that marked date there's a pretty big markup. Here's the really nice part: the guy who owns the place will help you figure out if the piece you're looking at financing is a good financial move for you. He'll help you calculate what your monthly payments would work out to be and even advises you not to buy something if you can't pay it off within the time before the extra markup kicks in. You can tell that he cares about the customers and wants them to have a good experience. I appreciate that SO MUCH. We love our couch and actually just paid it off this week. It fits perfectly in our house - the store has measuring tape for you to borrow - and really elevates our living room. We paid probably $60-$80 for delivery from this location to St Louis Park. It was a no brainer. Delivery setup was easy and speedy. Just keep in mind that all sales are final and that their stock is here today and gone tomorrow!

One recurring theme in customer service workshops is that it is not price, product, or place. Those are ties. I had fellow in one class for a national retail chain tell us his nearest competitor is one mile away and they both represent the same company. He said we have same price, same product, and nearly same place. All I have that he does not have are my employees and service they require. My point is that it is not place, product or price that dictates good service. It is policy and personnel. Today I was buying new mattress from Mankato Mattress Man (Ben). We bumped into a store policy that I considered archaic, in appropriate, unnecessary and a barrier to my doing business with Mankato Mattress Man. Ben said I would like your business here are two things I can do. One is I can work out a work around so that this policy can be tabled. Two and I prefer this approach is that it will take me a minute or two to explain why this policy is in place. I said since I have been treated great to this point, since I want this new mattress, and easisest workaround seems to be explanation go that route. Ben did. I bought the mattress. So if you are looking for a new mattress you can probably find equal products, equal prices in Mankato market. Personnel and policies make Mankato Mattress Man a great last stop while mattress shopping.
