Fortunately the homeowner advocates for us as renters, because Scout is unprofessional, greedy, and lazy. They do not communicate or respect our time or wellbeing. They are chaotic in their communication process, constantly switching between email, text, or their app. Most recently, they scheduled the house exterior to be painted without telling us. This resulted in pressure washing while windows were open (the crew tried their best to shut them), damaging our blinds and soaking the home's wood floor. It also got paint chips in the flower pots and on our toddler's toys. We had no communication about the painting, which caused strong fumes that we did not feel were safe for a toddler. Scout's failure to even attempt to inform of us the painting damaged our property, damaged the owner's property, and risked the health of our baby. Unacceptable, but not surprising from them based on our experience living here for the past 2.5 years. We do love the rental house itself and the location, the only thing that is terrible is working with Scout.

This was by far the best property manager I have ever rented from. We lived in one of their houses…read morefor 3.5 years, and of course in that time minor issues come up that need fixing. Brook did a great job balancing professionalism and friendliness, was easy to work with and always sent a maintenance person within a few days when needed. (It was never "Oh we'll send someone out in a few days," it was more "How does Thursday morning sound? Can you wait til then?" - this is an important distinction because if something had been really urgent I know they would have worked maintenance in ASAP.) Another small thing - many times when I emailed them, I would receive a helpful message back not just within the day but within an hour or two. My roommates and I were respected and treated like humans, not just warm bodies to fill the space and make money. I was shocked when I learned that Willett has a bunch of properties because it felt so personal and down-to-earth to work with them. We even got our full deposit back - after ALMOST FOUR YEARS of living there. To be fair, we scrubbed the heck out of the place over several long days, but I've never worked with a property manager that doesn't try to grab as much of the deposit as possible. We only terminated our tenancy because I got a job in another city, but if we move back to Portland we'll be in touch with Willett about their vacancies for sure. It's not that we were really "spoiled" by Willett... it's that this is how property management should be: clear, communicative, and relational.

We closed on a manufactured home during the summer of 2017 in which everything was paid, including…read morethe prorated property taxes. We were told by the realtor he would handle the title transfer. Several months later, after numerous attempts to contact him and still no title, we were finally contacted by the previous owners and informed they were being held responsible for the current year's taxes because the title was never transferred. After getting that paid, the realtor finally got in touch with us because he needed new forms signed to process the title transfer, in which he printed them for the wrong address. We got that fixed, signed and submitted the forms to him, and waited. Several weeks later, he informed us the property taxes had to be paid for the upcoming year for him to process the transfer. 17 months after closing on this house, we just now got the title to it in our name. This man is a procrastinating hack who has no business being in this line of work. The only reason I'm not filing a complaint against him with the BBB is because, eventually, the issue was resolved, but steer clear of this organization if you value your time and sanity.
